Chapter 11

During a commercial break, Peter muttered, “You guys aren’t even trying to play it right.”

“I got one answer,” Thad said between chuckles. “Jamie’s the one who’s coming up with some shit.”

Jamie balked. “Hey! You obviously think I’m funny.”

“Funny but wrong,” Thad pointed out.

From his desk, Peter sniffed in disdain. “Even if you were right, you’d be disqualified. Each answer has to be in the form of a question. You aren’t—”

“What is your momma?” Jamie joked.

Peter glared over his shoulder at them, the look on his face so stern, Jamie started to laugh. “It’s just a game,” he said. “Jeez, Pete. You act like I’m being graded on it or something.”

“You’d never graduate if you were.” Peter returned to his textbook, his back to them. “Thankfully you’re not a Jeopardy!major. Oh, wait. You’re not anymajor, are you?”

Jamie felt his face flush. “I have to choose one. I’ve only been here a few months. God, you sound like my mom.”
