Chapter 47

Evie woke up with a splitting headache, her whole body was in pain and she could not help but groan whenever she tried to move.

Looking to her side, she found Juicy sleeping peacefully.

How long has she been asleep? She just couldn't remember and she felt like her memory was blank.

Something was off and Evie could feel it, she tried to remember what happened but it only added to her headache.

"Ouch," Evie heard her friend groan in pain as she turned to view her.

"What happened?" Juicy asked, trying to get a grip of herself.

"No idea, I feel empty," Evie complained as she got out of bed and stretched her body.

"Well, my whole body aches!" Juicy yelled in pain, stretching as well.

"I feel like we are missing a part of our memory," Evie complained but Juicy paid no attention to her blabbering.

"You like to imaginate nonsense," Juicy hissed.

Just before Evie could open her mouth to say something the door to Evie's room flew open giving a view of Xander with a tray containing two glasses of water in it.

"You guys would need this," Xander stated.

Juicy collected the water and then the pain relief and drank while Evie was lost in her thoughts.

"How long have we been asleep?" Juicy asked.

"For about ten hours now," Xander replied while Juicy only nodded her head and turned to see her friend lost in deep thoughts.

"Earth to Evie! What on earth were you thinking?" Juicy chided.

"Nothing, I feel like something is off. Xander, can you please do me the favour of reminding me what happened?" Evie asked while Xander groaned inwardly.

"Well you guys were tired and went to sleep," Xander lied.

"That is a lie! I can't remember being tired," Juicy roared from behind.

Xander closed his eyes for a moment and then opened it again, it was obvious that he didn't like the way the conversation was going.

"Can you guys just take the pain reliever and stop asking too many unnecessary questions?" Xander asked and he was grateful when the ladies didn't ask him any more questions.

He let out a breath that he didn't know that he was holding when he left Evie's room.

After dropping the tray in the kitchen, he headed for Ezekiel's room.

As usual Paul was talking while Ezekiel was listening, or let's say picking the few important points in his entire speech.

"How was it?" Paul was the first to ask when Xander entered.

Xander didn't reply but made himself comfortable on the large sofa in Ezekiel's room.

"Zeke, I must really say that you have a very smart wife," Xander complimented.

"Did she bother you with questions?" Ezekiel asked and Xander nodded his head.

"Yes, that is true. I mean, Evie is every man's dream. She has the brain, beauty, charisma…" Paul trailed off seeing Ezekiel's deadly glare.

"Hold it right there Zeke! I am just admiring your wife, nothing more," Paul said, raising his hands in surrender.

"And stop being possessive," Paul added with a chuckle.

"She is really having an effect on you," Xander said.

"Xander is right. First you agreed to marry her when you dislike the opposite sex so much then you become possessive of her so much that you almost killed the man she made out with in the club and then you were seen hugging and comforting her. She is melting your cold heart, Zeke," Paul explained.

"You guys shouldn't take it to heart, I am only playing my role as her husband," Ezekiel added coldly.

"Since when did you start playing your duty as a husband? I thought you just married her to satisfy your mom?" Paul asked tauntingly.

"What if she is the one from the prophecy?" Xander asked.

"Arrant nosense," Ezekiel retorted, " I don't believe in that cock and bull story," he added.

"Neither did I, but looking at everything now, I am beginning to feel like it's true," Xander chipped in.

"She is the one from the prophecy because she is already having her way in Ezekiel's life," Paul added.

Ezekiel banged his hands on the table causing a loud noise. His gaze on his friends was deadly and he sent them a signal not to speak again.

"If you two don't have anything important to discuss then get lost!" Ezekiel roared.

Despite Ezekiel's anger, the two were unfazed, in fact they were less bothered about Ezekiel's anger.

Ezekiel shut his eyes and shoved his hand in his black hair. Maybe he was going to easy on his friends that was why they were taking him for granted.

"Leave Evelynn out of that so called prophecy. I am too be blamed for every damn thing that has been happening so far," Ezekiel growled.

"Fine, we agree, you caused everything. You were and still are the reason why Elijah is behind the bars. But do you now how many centuries that you have kept blaming yourself for what happened? Do you know how long you have been living in self regret?" Paul asked.

"Remember that you were young back then, you were stupid and rebbelious," Xander added.

"Stop it!" Ezekiel roared, he hates remembering what happened centuries ago. It made him feel weak.

Trying to calm himself down, he left the room to the garden to blow off some steam.

Normally when he was in their world, he would ask for someone to beat up so he could calm down but now that he was married and now in the human world, he has to learn to reign in his anger.

Evie was in the garden, playing with some flowers when Ezekiel arrived.

Ezekiel watched her as she played with the flowers happily. The air blowing her red hair backwards.

Ezekiel did not know when a smile appeared on his gorgeous face as he watched her little figure play.

"Seems like you are becoming too attached to my best friend, I must say she really moves you," Juicy's voice was heard from behind.

Ezekiel stiffened. She was right! Her friend was really affecting him.

What was really happening to him?
