First kiss

In Layla's small house not far from river Nile, a few maids were in front of her house. Some were packing some clothes out while some were busy cleaning.

Asim will be introducing her as his newest Concubine that night so they were preparing her since she wasn't naturally royalty.

Some maids were helping her with her hair while some were putting on henna on her hands and legs.

Layla didn't seem to be enjoying all this one bit but she sat there anyways as they continued their makeover thing.

"You look stunning, Lady Layla." One of the maids complimented and Layla smiled before groaning.

"Are you done yet? I'm going to get sick if I sit any longer than I already have." Layla complained.

"And there, you look perfect now Lady Layla." Try said before bringing the mirror to her front.

One couldn't believe it took them over five hours to put on the makeup and accessories. It looked really simple and brought out her natural beauty.

Layla sighed before she stood up to wear her golden gown.

It was approaching sunset already and the palace was already getting filled with nobles and high ranked people in the village.

Kissa lazily laid on her bed with Gold on the floor with his tail around her wrist.

"Can I just sit inside and do nothing? I don't think I am in the mood to leave my room at all." Kissa complained as Sabola and Ramla walked in and out of her bathroom with different dresses each time.

"You know that is not possible my lady. The feast wouldn't start without you and you haven't even started preparing." Sabola pointed out but the lady remained in bed doing nothing.

"Which of the dresses, my lady?"

Kissa turned her head to see them holding more clothes in hand. "I'll just go for the blue and gold one with Sabola."

Kissa finally sat up, making Gold crawl away. Kissa yawned lazily before she stood up.

They helped her take her bath and dress in the blue gown with golden Usek and belt. They dressed her hair with a golden headband and rings around her curls before covering it with a transparent blue veil.

Kissa stood up and looked at herself before smiling. "I am beautiful." She complimented herself before stepping into her golden sandals.

By the time she was done, the sun was already halfway down into the sky and the guests had filled the palace.

Immediately the sun set, Lapis walked into the room in an occasional outfit too.

"The Pharaoh sent for you already Lady Kissa." Lapis said.

Hearing her voice, Gold crawled out of the he has crawled into and seeing the golden creature stand, Lapis gritted her teeth.

She also never liked the snake. Everyone who was Dina's enemies didn't like the snake because it would attack them if not careful but Sabola was naturally terrified of snakes, cobras to be precise.

Kissa knelt next to Gold and patted its head before stepping out of the room with Ramla and Sabola behind her and Lapis before her.

As they walked down the passage, they could hear the musical instruments being played on the large terrace they were using.

After Kissa and Asim settled on the terrace, the general came over to have a quick conversation with Asim.

Kissa looked around and noticed all the concubines graced the occasion.

Different types of food were laid on the table for the guests to eat. She was sure there would be leftovers that some shameless nobles would take home.

Kissa was just looking at the entrance, waiting for Layla to walk in so they can get this over with and she can return to bed.

After a whole hour of torture and drinking, Asim finally stood up.

"Tonight, we celebrate our soldiers who will be going into the enemy's territory tomorrow. I arranged this feat for them and also, to introduce my next concubine." Asim said as he raised his cup.

Nubia was shocked because she hasn't even been his concubine for a month and now he was bringing another concubine in?

"You have to get used to it. The highest he has stayed without a new concubine was half a year." One of the concubines behind her whispered.

Everyone looked at the entrance and a beautiful being appeared before them. Everyone gasped as they saw her unreal beauty.

Of course she wasn't as beautiful as Kissa but she was breathtaking. Some of the noble men recognised her because they asked her hand in marriage lots of times already but she refused.

When Kissa stepped down to welcome her, they communicated with their eyes for a few seconds before Kissa took her hand.

Unlike other concubines, Layla stood victorious in her vision and it could only mean Kissa would be free.

"I welcome you Layla." Asim kissed her forehead and she smiled sweetly before sitting on his right.

Nubia was fuming that she angrily stood up and walked away. Kissa saw her and as she watched her go, she spotted Cairo on guard outside.

Kissa's heart melted as she hadn't seen him since the previous day.

Kissa stood up and excused herself before walking out of the terrace. She gestured to Cairo to follow her and he did reluctantly.

Kissa walked down the passage with Cairo still trailing behind her, when they got a bit far away from the terrace, Kissa turned her back to look at him.

"Cairo, have you been avoiding me?" She asked.

"No, I've not." He replied but even making eye contact with her, making her sigh.

"I understand uf it's too much Cairo. I don't mind being rejected, let's just go back to the way we were." Kissa said before walking past him.

Cairo suddenly grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, their lips crashed against each other and Cairo cupped her cheek with his other hand.

Kissa was shocked to the core by the sudden action that she stood still.

'He kissed me.' 'We kissed.'
