Chapter 53:
"What is your choice, Zeus?" Marcus asked with a cold, hard tone. The latter didn't respond and only looked at the ground with blank eyes.
His pride was hurt, and everything felt unreal to him. The Olympians looked at Zeus with a new kind of gaze. Zeus had never looked so weak before. They always saw him with a regal and powerful look and aura, yet here he was, like a helpless old man.
Marcus didn't spare any emotion for his old man as he continued to ask for the last time.
"Choose now." Zeus looked at him and stood up. Thunder and lightning crackled around him as he shouted with a heaven-shaking voice.
"I choose my pride!!" With a Spartan-like scream, he summoned the master bolt and was about to hurl it towards Marcus, but suddenly something strange happened.
A dark orb of light emerged from Marcus's hands. Zeus released his bolt, but Marcus managed to dodge it by tilting his head to the side. Then he slammed the orb he was holding into Zeus's torso.
Suddenly, an astral figure came out of Zeus's body, as if it had been pushed out. Marcus then coated his hands with dark light and grabbed the astral projection.
"You! What are you doing?!!" Shouted Poseidon with fury.
But he fell silent when a huge purple lightning bolt came down from the sky and struck him.
"Arrhghhh!!" He screamed and kneeled.
"Stop him! Stop him at all costs!!" Shouted Hades. He knows what is happening right now. As someone who rules over the underworld, he knows what a soul looks like.
Feeling the urgency in the God of the Underworld's tone, all of them rushed towards Marcus, even though they were injured.
As they all banded together, a strange phenomenon suddenly occurred. A dome of murky gray divinity flowed out from Marcus's body and encompassed everyone.
The world within the dome suddenly came to a halt. Everything slowed down—the air, the energy, the space. Everything was frozen in time, including the Olympians.
'This is impossible!!' They all thought in unison with great shock.
"The time domain," Marcus muttered.
"Even with his soul scattered and in pieces, his Divinity is still remarkable," Marcus said, referring to Kronos, whose soul he had devoured earlier.
Marcus's words confirmed what they were all thinking. It seems that Marcus had obtained the Divinity over Time from Kronos.
This was shocking to them, since right now Marcus was holding two major divinities pertaining to the Origination of the Universe.
The Soul and The Time.
Two major divinities that are part of the six origination: The Space, The Reality, The Time, The Soul, The Chaos, The Order. These are the divinities believed to have created the entire universe, and right now Marcus is holding two of those powerful divinities.
Marcus grabbed Zeus's soul and intended to devour it the same way he devoured Kronos's soul, but…
"What are you intending to do!??" Suddenly, someone from afar came down and shouted. It was Susanoo, his teacher and the Japanese God of Storm and Lightning.
"This is far from what I agreed to help you with. Our deal is to make them surrender and apologize to the dead souls of my people! Not this abomination!" He roared with fury.
Behind Susanoo was the entire Japanese army that he had brought with him. They all had their weapons ready in case Marcus went rogue.
"The deal we made was for you to help me achieve my goal. You swore to what you hold sacred; there is no backing down," Marcus said with an irritated tone.
"This is not what it's supposed to be!!" Susanoo wailed with contained fury, to which Marcus responded.
"I no longer care what it's supposed to be. What I only care for right now are the duties given to me by my mother." With a piercing cold tone, Marcus responded.
Then from the crowd of the Japanese army, three figures suddenly came running towards him.
It was three figures. One was a man in his twenties wearing a Japanese student's uniform, another was a woman with feline features, and the other was a beautiful woman with robust proportions.
They were the first three friends he made after he crashed in Japanese Territory: Taku, Yuki, and Harumi.
"Stop this, Marcus! This isn't who you are!!" Harumi, the beautiful woman, cried with tears.
"Marcus! You are a true man! I know that this isn't what you want!" Taku, the one he considered his older brother, shouted.
"Come back, Marcus! I want to play with you again!" Yuki, the one with the feline features, wept to Marcus.
Finally catching his attention, Marcus returned his gaze to Zeus's soul and was about to devour him when he suddenly heard Harumi shout at the top of her lungs.
"Please, Marcus! This isn't the you I know!!" She wailed and pleaded with Marcus. For the first time, Marcus's attention was caught. He returned his gaze to them and said in a cold tone.
"Then who do you think I am?" He asked.
"You are Marcus! The kind-hearted man who saved me from the blue demon! The one who is compassionate and playful! You are not this monster!" She wept to him.
"Then you don't know me enough!!" Marcus, for the first time, raised his voice. The heavens shook from his mere increase in voice, and the ground almost split from the pressure.
"I am not kind! I am not compassionate! I am not playful! I am miserable!"
"I want everything to burn down more than anyone else, but I can't! I am duty-bound! If I were to fail this mission, I will go back to that miserable realm my wretched mother put me through!"
"You don't know enough to judge me as your friend! I am not anyone's companion! In this world of misery, I alone am the only one!!!"
He shouted with fury. For the first time, genuine emotion came out from him, which shocked everyone. The entire time he was so aloof and cold, but now he was shouting with emotions behind his voice, declaring his true feelings for the first time, leaving everyone stunned by the raw emotion in his voice.
