Chapter 167- Soul master?

Chapter 167

As everyone was confused as to why the high and mighty yin soldier suddenly retreated in a panic, an old voice sounded right in everyone's minds, including the yin soldier, like the speaker was standing right beside them, but was actually nowhere to be seen.

"Your reaction is quite fast. Unfortunately for you, this old man has prepared for that"

As the voice sounded, everyone felt their soul shake. An extremely powerful soul aura surged into the sky, passing through the physical world and suppressing everyone's very soul!

Runes appeared on the floor across the entire underground territory, each rune and symbol giving off an extraordinarily powerful soul power.

When everyone studied these runes, they felt astounded as an inconceivably shocking thought emerged in their minds.

"This…is this a… formation?" Someone muttered with a quivering voice. In this silent underground territory, his voice was quite loud and resounding.

This was also the exact same question running through everyone's minds, but hearing someone say it made them feel disbelieve.

"That's impossible! How can a formation cover such a large area?" The yin ghosts instantly flinched as they looked around, searching for the mysterious speaker.

"Hmph! Measly tricks!" The Yin soldier's expression was extremely ugly as he spread out his perception. A glint flashed in his eyes as he turned his sharp gaze to one of the old human masters at the peak of the spirit realm. The man looked very old with all his hairs been grey his vitality was relatively weak.

But sensing the yin soldier's gaze on him, the man had an inexplicably calm smile on his face filled with experience.

"You… who are you? And why did you sneak into my territory?" The yin soldier asked with a cold tone. Everyone was instantly astonished.

Who was the Yin soldier referring to?

They followed his line of sight and were more dumbfounded seeing him staring at an old spirit realm human who seemed to be at the end of his life. The yin soldier even seemed extremely wary of this old man.

"You think too much of yourself if you think I would want to sneak into your territory. Your underlings just happened to run into me and oppressed this old man, forcing me to come here, so I thought I'd return the favor"

The Yin soldier's expression darkened even further as he looked over his shoulder to glance at the yin ghosts behind him. They all instantly lowered their heads.

"Bunch of trash!" The Yin soldier spat. These useless servants… they went around the forest capturing every human they spotted without measuring the true depths of the human's strength. Now, they ended up bringing a master to his territory.

The old man slowly stood up from the floor, his peak spirit level aura being very eye-catching.

By now though, people were already sure that something was going on. This old man was apparently a powerful master who was taken by the Yin ghosts as a prisoner. They were already guessing what the old man's real cultivation was.

The humans here we're undoubtedly feeling a great relief in their hearts.

"You really are at the spirit realm, then…" the Yin soldier frowned. His perception sensed that this old man was really only at the spirit realm and he was not concealing his real strength, yet the yin soldier was feeling a great threat from the man.

What exactly is going on with these damn humans? First it was a crazy youth and now, this mysterious old man…

The old man laughed, a carefree expression on his face.

"This old man never said anything about not being in the spirit realm. I am not anything great in terms of the martial path…" he paused with a meaningful smile on his face.

The Yin ghosts and even the Yin soldier we're still confused. If this was his real strength, then where was this feeling of danger coming from?

But the humans had gleaned something from the words of the old man. He wasn't anything special in terms of martial cultivation…

That's right! He was weak when it came to the martial path, but is that the only path available? Someone who can set up such formidable formation could only be…

"But I'm not sure if the same can be said about my soul cultivation" the old man added. A tremendous amount of soul power gushed out of his body and poured into the formation on the floor. His soul power was vastly different from the normal ones. Normally, soul power was like a mist, formless. it couldn't even be seen sometimes, only sensed and it gave off a very complicated aura.

The soul power was very elusive just like the soul itself was a very mysterious and formless energy. But this old man's soul power was different. It had a more mysterious aura, and it had a very faint crystalline look making it a lot similar to martial power. In fact, his soul power wasn't any weaker than the yin soldier's aura purely in terms of power, which was inconceivable, as the soul power was known to be weaker than martial power. Some of the more knowledgeable humans had looks of understanding and respect as they noticed this.

The entire underground territory instantly lit up as everyone, including the yin soldier felt a great suppression on their souls.

"A soul cultivator!" The yin soldier's expressions dropped further. The yin ghosts were weak in terms of the soul and the human's soul cultivators could particularly suppress the yin ghosts when they had similar strength.

"It took me a while to set up this formation to seal up this entire underground area without alerting you. Luckily, this little friend here managed to distract you and gave me enough time to finish up the formation. With this violent rain sealing formation set up, all of you you ghosts here have no chance of escaping" the old man slowly explained as he glanced at the unconscious Long Feng with a faint appreciation in his eyes.

The yin soldier gritted his teeth. "So you two were together?"

The old man shook his head. "I never knew him before this and even though I sensed their arrival, I didn't expect him to risk his life and charge out like that. He did it all to save others. I only took advantage of the opportunity he created… Anyway that's enough. I'm a little bit talkative due to old age, but you really should get going now"

He waved his hand as he spoke. A mist slowly poured out of the formation on the floor and surrounded all the humans, protecting them from the effect of the formation.

After that, the formation flashed as soul power surged upwards and  condensed into what looked like water drops.

Then, the crystalline drops began to pour down densely like a rainfall. But each of these drops had unbelievable power, able to instantly tear apart the souls of peak spirit level yin ghosts, killing them in a matter of moments.

Half of the spirit level yin ghosts instantly died while the remaining were barely able to protect themselves. Their ghost energy was useless before the soul power drops which directly attacked the soul.

Watching his subordinates being slaughtered like this, the yin soldier was so enraged that he roared angrily. Alas, he himself was having a hard time defending against the soul power raindrops. It was impossible for him to assist the other you ghosts.

He gave up defending and shot towards the old man who was standing in the same position without moving a step.

"Die!" The Yin soldier snarled as he threw out a palm, suffused with his entire strength. A cloud of ghost energy weighed down on the old man, threatening to flatten him. If the yin soldier had gone all out like this against Long Feng earlier, then Long Feng wouldn't have been able to even use his technique before being crushed.

But facing this powerful attack, the old man merely smiled.

"You don't seem to understand that from the very moment I laid down this formation, victory was already in my grasp. Your resistance will only bring you more harm" saying this, he slowly pushed out his palm. His crystalline soul power surged out and formed a formation above his palm in a split second.

The formation revolved and turned into a palm sized white sword covered in runes. It was clearly condensed from soul power.

The sword shot out with a loud explosive sound as it tore through the yin soldier's attack, destroyed it and continue on towards the yin soldier.

The yin soldier's eyes shrank as he roared, using one hundred and ten percent of his strength to form a protective energy screen in front of him.

Unfortunately, the protective screen was quickly weakened by half due to the soul power rain which was still pouring down. Immediately after, the small sword pierced straight through the screen and under the bewildered expressions of everyone present, it shot into the yin soldier's forehead and vanished.

"Argh!" The yin soldier let out a miserable scream as a heart wrenching pain seized him. He felt as though his soul was split in two, making him wish for death.

The old man's attack was actually one that targeted only the opponent's soul.

As the yin soldier was screaming in pain, the old man's eyes flashed as his soul power surged again and condensed into a needle. This time, he didn't use any formation, only using his pure soul power to attack.

The condensed soul power shot into the yin soldier, pierced straight through his soul and causing him unimaginable pain.

Taking this opportunity to close the distance between them, the old man placed a palm on the Yin soldier's forehead whose face immediately froze up.

"You…"

"Extinguish!" The old man spoke with a cold tone. His soul power poured into the Yin soldier's head and directly ripped his soul apart.

The Yin soldier's eyes dimmed as his lifeless body fell to the ground.

"Your master is gone. It is only natural for you all to accompany him so that he doesn't feel lonely" the old man turned to the surviving yin ghosts and spoke with a benevolent smile.

The power of the soul formation rain increased and a few breaths later, the last few yin ghost had their souls torn apart.

The entire yin ghosts in this territory were wiped out completely!…
