The Fruit of Awakening

Chao Feng felt extremely confused and bewildered, everything had happened way too fast for his brain to even register anything.

He had been transported to a strange world, an old man had asked him a few questions and given him a strange book and then he was transported back, all in a blink.

He went over the events that had just occurred and after verifying Liu Mei's safety, he tried to go back to the place where he saw the white light, but now, there was no white light to talk about.

The only tangible thing proving that the strange grey world wasn't a dream was the book in Chao Feng's hand, which had a title: "Control".

Chao Feng was confused, it looked similar to Martial Techniques and so he was enticed into flipping through the pages of the book.

"This is a technique only for those who are blessed by the heavens."

"If you have this technique, you are one of these blessed people, a Spirit Grandmaster."

"This technique is the fundamental technique of Spirit Grandmasters, to awaken the Summoning Power and control it, gaining a huge advantage over normal people."

Chao Feng was confused, but he kept on reading.

"Throughout this book, I will teach you ways to awaken the Summoning Power for the first half, and for the second half, I will teach you how to control it and circulate it."

"To awaken the Summoning Power, one must either have it from birth, have it awakened by a high-level Spirit Grandmaster or eat multiple Fruits of Awakening."

"However, the process of truly awakening the Summoning Power is not complete simply when it is initially awakened. One must be able to feel and sense the power inside their dantian and notice the separation between the power and the spiritual energy."

Chao Feng continued to become more and more confused.

He closed the book and stored inside his sack, since he had no idea what the book was talking about.

Although, the book had been somewhat useful to Chao Feng as it helped him remember something.

"That fruit, it was the Fruit of Awakening." Chao Feng had come across a mysterious fruit that he knew the name of, but he couldn't remember it. The book mentioning the fruit had jogged his memory.

The Fruit of Awakening was a special cultivation medicine that allowed mortals to awaken their dantian without going through the usual painful process of tempering, according to this book, if you are multiple of them, you could awaken the so-called 'Summoning Power', but many questions and complications arose from that.

Did you have to eat them all at the same time? How long could you wait before eating another one? How many did you have to eat? If you eat too many, will there be negative repercussions?

Due to all of these factors, Chao Feng decided to rule this method of awakening his 'Summoning Power' out.

The only possible method of awakening the mysterious power was to have it forcefully awakened by a high-level Spirit Grandmaster, but when would he ever come across one of these existences that he had never even heard being mentioned, even in the entire Chao Divine Clan which ruled over most of the entire Lower Chaotic Realm.

Chao Feng sighed. From the mystery and strangeness surrounding the old man, the white light, the strange world, Summoning Power and Spirit Grandmasters, he had been excited and exhilarated by entering such a strange section of cultivation.

After placing the book back in his sack, he retrieved the Fruit of Awakening from it. The Fruit of Awakening was round and smooth all the way around, reminiscent of an extremely clean ball.

Chao Feng started at the fruit for a few seconds before deciding: "I will give this to Liu Mei and awaken her cultivation so she can protect herself. I don't want any limitations on the path of cultivation."

Chao Feng couldn't fall asleep again after experiencing such a strange occurrence so he opted to instead practise the Unrivalled Sword of Purity and the second destruction style.

Although he had mastered both techniques, it was rumoured that one could go further than complete mastery and innovate a new style of the technique entirely, this was called the conceptual mastery stage.

After practising all night, Chao Feng could say that he had completely mastered both techniques. With this newfound strength, he could beat fifth level Origin realm cultivators and potentially fight against sixth level cultivators.

He was satisfied when the sun rose, and instead of searching for cultivation medicines, he decided to make preparations to return home, waking Liu Mei up and walking back to the entrance they came from.

After they left the mountain, Chao Feng spun around and said to Liu Mei: "Liu Mei, have you ever wanted to become a cultivator?"

Liu Mei's eyes lit up as she nodded profusely, saying: "My family would never let me become one, but I have always wanted to."

Chao Feng smiled lightly and took out the Fruit of Awakening.

"Here is your opportunity. This is a special cultivation medicines that does not require refining, you simply eat it and after it is digested, you will be a cultivator at the first level of the Origin realm!"

"Huh?" Liu Mei's large green eyes widened. "Is this real? You are not tricking me?"

"Test it out for yourself." Chao Feng smiled and gestured at the fruit.

Liu Mei ate the fruit after a few moments of silence, and her face suddenly bore an expression of happiness.

"I can feel it! I can feel it! My dantian, it is awakening!" Liu Mei began to jump up and down in excitement, making Chao Feng laugh.

"Oh, I forgot something this entire time. What is your name?" Liu Mei asked.

"His name is Chao Feng." Suddenly, a deep voice answered her question for her. It was Chao Zheng. "Chao Feng, who is this?"

"Liu Mei, a girl I met in the forest." Chao Feng answered.

"Liu Mei… Could it be?" Chao Zheng's eyes widened. "The daughter of Liu Ming, the emperor of the Spectral Province?"

Liu Mei looked down at the ground and silently nodded.

"Liu Mei… Why didn't you tell me?" Chao Feng was shocked.

"I thought that… You would be scared of my father and that you wouldn't want to be involved with me." Liu Mei replied quietly.

"That was not a very clever thought. Who's scared of your father, isn't he just the emperor of the Spectral Province?" From Chao Feng's words, it was clear he didn't put Liu Ming or the Spectral Province in his eyes.

"…" Liu Mei was shocked, nobody had ever said such things about her father before.

"Chao Feng, that is a figure we cannot dare to disrespect, who knows if he is listening right now?" Chao Zheng placed his hand on Chao Feng's shoulder and shook his head.

Chao Zheng was right, cultivators beyond the Origin and Servant realms were mystical beings, who knew what hidden methods they had?

Chao Feng nodded his head in agreement and smiled: "Brother, I found a Fruit of Awakening and just now, I gave it to this lady."

Chao Zheng was shocked. A Fruit of Awakening would go for over a thousand gold coins, a price even Liu Ming could not afford to think about, and Chao Feng had unhesitatingly given it to a random lady?

What was the relationship between the two, for him to not think twice about such a precious treasure?
