Chapter 21 Visiting

"I didn't come in immediately because I wanted to check what she was trying to do before I would jump to conclusions so immediately I noticed that she came here to seduce daddy, I just said anything that came to my mind so she would quickly go back to her house. Actually... She didn't say it but I could clearly see it in her eyes. I'm sorry I lied, mommy. I won't do it again." Joanne lowered her head and sniffled.

She had gotten HUGE points out of embarrassing that woman, so of course she wasn't going to feel bad about it, but she knew that Esme may get mad with her if she didn't apologize.

"Joanne... Even though I'll be honest and say that I enjoyed the expression that she had on her face, I don't want you to hear the kind of words that she said. You are still a child..."

"I'm not a child anymore! I'm seven now, I was six before but I'm now seven! And being seven is turning into an adult." Joanne did not have any reservations about employing the strategy of a young child on anyone so long as it was successful.

Esme let out a hearty laugh. Joanne pretended to be an adult for such a significant amount of time. She did not engage in a lot of conversation, and she did not play like the child that she had been. Joanne was coerced into becoming an adult much too quickly.

On the other hand, Esme felt that arriving at this location was a very positive thing since it helped Joanne behave more like a kid than the adult she was forced to become.

"Come on over here." Joanne ran into Esme's hug as soon as she opened her arms. Esme was surprised.

"Joanne, I am grateful to you for advocating on my behalf. I feel humiliated that I was unable to complete the task by myself and that it was necessary for you to complete it for me. Don't be concerned, for from this point forward, I won't back down from any challenge that stands in my way! I'm going to make it a point to toughen up." The fire of resolve was shining in Esme's eyes as she continued.

"Yay! Mommy is such a cool person!" Joanne smiled and applauded enthusiastically, but her expression betrayed her true feelings. She was interested in seeing Esme's demeanour when she was confronted by her brothers as well as her parents.

"You are very kind, Joanne! Thank you." Esme murmured something as she buried her head in Joanne's neck and kissed her. They shared a bed that night and went to sleep together.

Zachary appeared frustrated as he sat on his bed with his arms crossed and a frown on his face. The audacity of that sly young child to take his wife away from him! The nerve of her! He was fuming.

"Achoo!" Joanne gave a very loud sneeze, which roused her mother from her sleep.

"Are you okay? Did you catch a cold?" Concerned, Esme posed the question.

"No. I have the impression that someone was referring to me. Daddy must be the one. I'm still feeling sleepy so..." Joanne yawned and announced, "I'm going back to bed."

She nodded off with a sneering grin on her face before falling asleep. Not worrying about the envious feelings that Zachary was experiencing.

"Joanne, are you ready?" Zachary inquired while carrying Joanne's purse in his arms at the time. He had a stony expression on his face as he strutted around with that bag.

"Coming! Daddy, with that bag on, you truly bring out your good looks. How about you keep it for me even after we've arrived at our destination? In addition, I would like to snap a picture of us if that is alright with you." Joanne grinned joyously.

If she had a phone, she certainly would have snapped a photo of this priceless occasion to share with others.

"Shut it and take your bag." After holding Joanne's hand and putting the bag over her neck without any prior warning, Zachary essentially dragged her to the car and left her there.

"While I go find your mother, you need to wait right here until we get back. Will you even listen to me if I tell you not to touch anything and not to move?" Zachary remarked while maintaining a threatening gaze.

He was still harbouring resentment over what had occurred just a few days earlier.

"Yes, Daddy, make sure you spend your time with Mommy and take your tiimeee with her. I'll just sit here and be patient till the both of you arrive." Joanne gave the chair that she was sitting on a light pat while maintaining a sly grin on her lips.

"What on earth are you pondering, you strange little brat?"

"You're an odd person too, and I'm your child."

After giving Joanne, who was still giggling in the car, a snarky eye roll, Zachary exited the scene while she was still having a good time. Joanne heaved a sigh of relief as she leaned back on the chair.

It has been exactly four weeks since she arrived in this world, and over those four weeks, she has put in an incredible amount of effort to ensure that she completes each and every one of her covert tasks. If she is indeed successful in meeting her grandparents this time, then this will just be one of her many side missions, which she will complete very fast.

"Show me my status board."

Immediately, a blue window appeared and Joanne started to look through the interface.

"Will I finally be able to tick this task off my list once I've met that guy's grandparents? Or do I also need to get them both more acquainted with each other, just like I'm going to do today?" Joanne cocked her head to the side in order to question the floating Jewel.

"You are free to act in any way that you see fit."

"You never answer my questions directly, and I don't think that's fair." Joanne showed her displeasure before removing the interface.

After a few minutes had passed, Esme and Zachary got inside the car. Esme's cheeks were red all the way down to her neck, and her face was flushed as well.

Joanne smiled wickedly and made a little opening in her mouth before continuing. "Mommy, why is your face red? Did daddy bully you?"

"N... No. Daddy didn't do anything to me. I was merely experiencing some little heat, and nothing more."

"Okay... If you say so." Joanne smirked. She wasn't a little kid.
