Chapter 39-2

"You know what, Gracie?" I mumbled, rubbing my thumb across her back as I continued to scan the far away wall of all our past memories. She made a sound of enquiry in return, shifting her head slightly so she could listen better, "I don't think anyone could ever hate you. And the only reason Momma and Daddy left was because they knew you'd have your Uncle Charles to look after you. You'll see them again one day, I promise."

She sniffed loudly, "... Yeah?"

"Yeah," I smiled sadly, tearing my eyes away from the wall to look down at the doey eyes little girl with afro hair, staring back up at me, "So how 'bout you and me go downstairs to get you some juice, eh?"

"...Apple?" She asked, looking up hopefully at the prospect of consumables.

"Apple." I nodded, smiling down at her before standing to change my shirt. I hadn't left the room in two weeks... I guess I kinda needed to change out of the shirt I entered this place with, "Give us a sec okay, princess?"
