“Maybe you’d prefer I’d aimed higher and killed her.”
“It might have been more humane. You’d have done that much for a dog.”
“Dogs don’t fire guns at me.”
Lacey brought both her hands up and jolted Cam hard in the chest. Cam was tensed and stood her ground, not allowing herself to be pushed back. She had to stop herself from throwing Lacey to the floor. Let’s see if this could be settled without resorting to aggression, she thought.
“You wasted my whole family, man. Shot Rashi, put me here. My poor mama’s stuck with taking care of my three kids. And Rashi’s son.”
Cam stood face to face with her. “Maybe she should have thought of that before she brought you into this world.”
Lacey took a wild swing, but Cam sidestepped and blocked the punch, using Lacey’s weight against her. She threw Lacey off balance against the wall. Grabbing her by the throat, Cam held her there, preventing her fall.
