Cam felt like she was making progress with the Judo, Jujitsu and other martial arts moves that Michael was teaching. She knew that Michael was still not fully reacting to her moves, but she was growing more confident and knew that Michael had to use more and more countermoves to thwart her. Cam felt confident, however, that by the end of this training, she’d be able to handle herself reasonably well in a tough situation. Michael was a good teacher, patient but persistent.
But her situation with Charlie…well, she had no way to judge that. He never responded to her except to point out her mistakes. He never acknowledged her achievements, if there were any.
Maggie watched as Cam slowly placed a few pieces of stroganoff in her mouth. Elbow on the table, her hand supported her head that rested wearily against it. “I think we’re at a place where we deserve a Time Out,” Maggie announced.
All three just looked up at her.
