The Bitter Truth

Just like that a few more days passed. The time for the matchmaking of the land was also drawing near. Bhumi asks Nargis to help her prepare for the matchmaking. Nargis assures him not to worry at all. A day before the matchmaking, Nargis applies beautiful mehndi on Bhumi's hands. There is an atmosphere of happiness all around. The inspector also puts up a pavilion in front of the house. He happily invites all the acquaintances of the village to attend the matchmaking. He also goes to Mukhiya Daria Singh with an invitation. The chief makes him an excuse for work. Amar was standing nearby. He feels that if it is the engagement of Nargis's friend Bhumi, then surely Nargis will also come there. The inspector requests the chief that he will be very happy if he comes. Amar also persuades Mukhiya to go and promises the daroga that he will definitely come. Here Bhumi also invites Nargis to come for the matchmaking the next day and asks Sarfaraz to bring along. Nargis tells that her father's health is not good right now, so it is not possible for him to come but she will definitely come.

Eventually the day also comes when Bhumi was about to get engaged. Everybody was very happy. Nargis teases the land by calling it 'husa husa'. In the midst of this laughter, Bhumi's husband Sarthak comes with his family. Nargis takes Bhumi to the room. The officer goes ahead to welcome them. He asks everyone to sit. Everyone sits down. Nargis comes out and looks at Sarthak. Sarthak had tied a yellow turban on his head. High stature, chubby body and big mustache. Nargis goes to the room and tells in a low voice in Bhumi's ear that her future groom is very bad in appearance. Bhumi had never seen Sarthak.She gets a little scared. Nargis laughs and says she was joking. Bhumi gets a little angry and then starts laughing. The inspector tells Nargis that it is time for Muhurta, call Bhumi. Nargis goes inside to collect the land, when the chief comes there with Amar. The inspector welcomes them and gives them a cot to sit on. The chief hugs the inspector and congratulates him. In the meantime, Nargis also brings the land. Nargis gets shocked seeing Amar. She asks Bhumi in a low voice what is she doing here? Bhoomi tells that this is the village headman Daria Singh and Amar will probably be Darya Singh's younger son. Nargis felt very strange hearing this. He could not believe that both Amar and Kuldeep were real brothers. Amar looks at Nargis with her loving eyes but Nargis keeps staring at her. He did not understand how to behave on this matter. After sometime the engagement ceremony starts. Both Sarthak Bhumi make each other wear rings. Everyone applauds happily. The mother of the land makes everyone's mouth sweet. Eventually Bhoomi's engagement program goes well.

All the guests prepare to leave one by one. Mukhiya and Amar would also leave. After everyone leaves, Nargis asks Bhumi if both Kuldeep and Amar are real brothers. Bhumi tells that she had never seen the chief's younger son as he was always engaged in studies. He did not attend any wedding or festival in the village. But the whole village knows Kuldeep. Kuldeep's actions have always been throwing mud on the honor of the chief. Because of this Mukhiya has thrown Kuldeep out of the house and he now lives only with Amar. She did not know that Amar was the chief's younger son. Nargis tells Bhumi that she wants to meet Amar and that she should somehow convey this message to Amar. Nargis writes a letter and hands it over to Bhumi. Bhumi asks Nargis what she wants to do. What is the reason for suddenly meeting Amar like this? Nargis says that she wants to tell Amar that the boy who teases her while on the way is none other than his brother Kuldeep. Bhumi asks Nargis to think one more time as this will further aggravate the rift between the two brothers and Mukhiya always wanted to bridge the distance between the two brothers. Nargis says that she will think about it but for now it is very important for her to meet Amar. Bhumi conveys Nargis's message to Amar at the hands of Shahid. Amar Nargis has a letter. Nargis had invited him to meet him at the same dargah the next day. Amar is overjoyed to get Nargis's letter. He feels that he does not know what Nargis is going to talk to him. He delivers a message at the hands of Shahid to Bhumi that he will definitely come to meet Nargis.

The next day at noon, Amar prepares to go to meet Nargis. He puts on his new clothes and sprinkles a lot of perfume on his body. Amar reaches the mazar humming the song of Khushi Khushi. He goes to the back garden. Nargis was already sitting there. He slowly approaches Nargis and salutes her in broken Arabic. Nargis laughs and replies to Salaam. Amar smiles and sits next to him. Nargis asks Amar how his injury is now. Amar says that he is fine now. Nargis was hesitant to ask about Kuldeep. She just started talking here and there. Sometimes Jashn-e would ask about his preparations for the freedom competition, and sometimes about his studies. Eventually Nargis gathered courage and asked Amar about his family. Nargis asked Amar who was there in his house. Amar told that only he and his father live in his house and his mother's bodyThat happened a few years ago. Nargis asks him if he is the son of Mukhiya Daria Singh. Amar says "yes". Nargis tells Amir that Mukhiji has two sons as far as he knows. Amar tells her that he also has an elder brother, Kuldeep. He had become addicted to alcohol. Gambling, drinking, stealing had become his habit. So his father threw him out of the house. Amar bows his neck down in embarrassment. Amar narrates the full story of ousting Nargis from Kuldeep's house, how Kuldeep had pushed the chief and then went away threatening to get the family land. Amar gets a little emotional. Nargis puts her hand on his shoulder and asks him to keep calm. Amar takes care of himself. After talking for a while, Amar realizes why Nargis is suddenly asking about Kuldeep. He asks Nargis but Nargis gets a little nervous and tries to cut things off but Amar asks the same question again.

Nargis tells Amar that the boy who used to tease her everyday on her way to college is none other than Kuldeep. Hearing this, Amar was furious. After what Kuldeep had done to Mukhiya, Amar had started hating him anyway, but after hearing this, he lost his cool in him. Amar stood up. Where did Nargis tell him to calm down? But Amar was very angry. Nargis did not want two brothers to become thirsty for each other's blood because of her. She tries hard to stop Amar but Amar does not agree. Nargis even makes Amar take the oath of the chieftain. But Amar's anger was not subsiding. She promises her friendship to finally stop Amar. Amar stops. He controls his anger. Nargis holds his hand and vows their friendship to forgive Kuldeep. Amar's anger subsides a bit. Amar sits down on the grass below and starts crying loudly. Nargis feels very bad seeing Amar's condition and tears well up in her eyes. To ease Amar's mind, she starts telling him about her life and how her mother left her in her childhood. He and his father had to face the taunts of so many people for their studies. When Amar's anger subsides completely, Nargis recites him a poem on their friendship. Amar likes it. He gets happy and thanks Nargis for giving such a high status to their friendship. Both laugh and sit in the same garden talking for several hours.
