Truce forced his nerves to calm as he stood before Anna in her bathroom. Emotions were a state he handled excellently in business, but failed wolfly when it came to the people he loved… Love, yes that explained his reactions to this woman. He loved every bit of her, but was scared to death at the thought of what the result of that declaration would bring to them… considering the circumstance.
"I-I can explain alright?" His voice suddenly had a soothing edge that made her relax in an unexplainable way. She didn't see him move close. "Just have a seat, so we can talk this through." His hands were on her shoulders now, leading her to a seat which was a brick extension from the wall and was painted in white. He nudged her gently to sit on it, and fell in beside her.
They faced the marble covered bathroom, with gold railings on the edges of the vanity on both sides of the walls, the legs of the free-standing tub, the taps on the sink and the separate shower.
Deliberately refusing to look at her, he began his explanation. "You remind me of someone I used to know, Anna." A thick lock of his hair fell into his eyes and Anna saw it from the corner of her eyes, her hands itched to push them back, but she sat still, wondering if he drugged her with his words. "You knew who I was before you met me, Anna. The strange cold CEO who never smiled at you. I've lost touch with that man now" He chuckled. "You see people from Valdi… we're are born with special abilities. I am not like other men, Anna. Can you grasp what that means?"
"Still, that's no excuse for invading my privacy, Mister Truce. I'm entitled to that right in the least."
"Yes, you're right. I'm sorry. Okay?" He turned to face her now, looking deep into her eyes to register his apology. She looked away, feigning anger. "How long has this been going on anyway?" she shook her head, and he smiled. "For a while now. Still angry at me?'
"Make it stop, and I'll consider it." She replied, her voice thick in a challenging manner.
"Deal." He said, and stretched his hand, she took it and they shook hands in agreement. He held on bit longer, caressing softly and staring at her face. She bent her head, and they snickered together at her embarrassed state.
She had come to recognize that look on his face now. He stared at her like that every morning at breakfast, when they collided in the living room last week, or when he was about to step out. Sometimes she ignored him in fact, focusing on what she did at that moment. He shouldn't look at her when he wasn't ready. That was always the lady's excuse.
"Where did you learn to dance like that? I was magnetized!" She giggled softly, like an excited child. "Mom was a dancer, I learned how to dance to put my emotions at ease from her."
"Dance for me, would you?"
"What? No!" She covered her face; her voice muffled. "It's always a challenge for me when there are eyes watching."
"Then let's dance together." He said, pulling her to her feet. She squealed in embarrassment, her hands still on her face. "Oh, no. I'm extremely shy now. I can't do this."
He laughed, a deep rich tone warming her ears. His hands slid to her waist and she felt a spark on her body; she jumped at the touch, her breasts bounced before his face and he drew her close. "Don't worry about that. You can close your eyes."
He lifted her hands and placed them around his neck. Their bodies were so close, she forgot how to breathe. They waltzed in the marble-covered bathroom without music, Anna closed her eyes, forcing herself to breath. He smelt like a refreshing ocean breeze, combined with a note of citrusy bergamot and lavender; she inhaled deeply. Their hearts thumped like a traditional rhythm and her body came alive.
I'm not dreaming. The CEO is actually dancing with me. This is real, oh my god, somebody wake me-
He didn't let her finish, and cut into her mind. Please hear me out Anna. The moment he spoke inside her head, she froze, and he held her closely in his arms till she nodded.
You're so beautiful, I think my heart would bleed. She gasped behind his ears. Can I kiss you? He asked, and her eyes and mouth widened in surprise, swallowing his scent.
She slowly nodded, and turned to face him, her eyes were as innocent as a snowflake. Anna gently pulled his head down and lifted her mouth to his and…
It was better than any of his fantasies. She kissed him slowly, sweetly, coaxing his mouth open with her tongue. Not that he needed coaxing. She met his tongue in a slow, sensual dance, like she did minutes before. He felt drugged and intoxicated.
He heard booms and crackles of fireworks, he thought he was in heaven, until she pulled away, smiling at him. He opened his eyes, curious to know why she stopped the blissful contact.
"Merry Christmas, Mister Truce."
"What?" He looked genuinely perplexed, and just then, the music in his head faded out and he followed Anna's gaze outside the small bathroom window. The sky erupted in a dazzling display of fireworks, casting a kaleidoscope of colors, accompanied with cheers and applause from the men outside.
He turned to look at her, his forehead meeting hers. "I want to show you something."
She squealed as her feet left the ground, she gripped his shoulders for support and he carried her in his arms, out of the bathroom, crossing her room to the sitting room, and then up the stairs, down a quiet hallway by the left. She had not seen this part of the house before.
"Where are we going?" her voice carried a musical tone as she asked. He pushed a door with his right foot and they entered a spacious part of the house. He dropped her on her feet, and she immediately forgot about him. The view of the night celebration in the sky, and the sea was breathtaking. She walked down a few stairs, moving to the window. She passed-
