Shard Disease

Shard Disease is another strain of the Madman Disease but affects the skin of the person, the disease first appeared on the planet Nerati.

The disease is spread by a creature called "sharder" from a cut, bite, or scratch. The disease is very rare and is found deep in the forest of the planet, the disease is only reported about once or twice a year or even none on some years. The disease may also be contracted from any shards that fall from the body of the creature, or may be contracted from the blood of the creature.

When one is infected they will experience nausea, headache, rashes, and insomnia. The disease will then take hold of the body and things will fall rapidly from there, the symptoms at the height of the disease are the following: fatigue, joint pain, fever, constant spasms, and a terrible headache. After the disease grows to its peak the symptoms become more violent such as: Stiffness, aggression, small growth of crystal-like shards from the spot where the sharder bit the host, and a cracking sound when moving. Once the disease takes over the body the body will become a walking humanoid of crystals that will become hostile and will react violently to any contact.

There are treatments that may destroy the shards and some portions of the disease itself however there will still be a chance that the medicine cannot help the patient anymore, due to new laws prohibiting passing inside the forest where the animal was last seen infections have gone down but rumors came out that one victim wasn't located and roam around the city of the planet waiting for it's next prey.

Fortunately there are no known cases aside from the rumored "crystal Hunter" reported and so far the disease is the least of the country's worries.
