Chapter 9

Valhalla in an underground base.

Inside a bright room, there were various samples grouped together on a table in a neat and orderly manner.

There were a few people in a white lab coats, inspecting the material diligently while checking on the computer screen.

Meanwhile, Ren is seen looking at a micro scope while poking a needle in a blood sample.

Inside the micro scope, an orange color cell the size of 0.0000001 nm (nano meter) could be seen.

When mixed with other normal cells, it leaves a small trace of itself and doesn't seem to react much even after separating itself.

"Base on my hypothesis, cellular abnormalities with spontaneous mutation only happen to people when there's a phycological burden like revenge or a destructive urge resulting from unsatisfied desires"

"But without having this orange cell nobody could transform into a monster, who made this, it acts like a living being, but it's actually a catalyst making the impossible possible"

"The most dangerous part is that all living beings have a trace of this orange cell" Ren face darkened even him, he was no exception.

'I could come in contact with Dr. Genus and learn about monster mutation from him, but I might get captured. It all depends on his mood.

I'm still not ready to fight a dragon level threat never mind, I'll wait a few more years' Ren thought.

"Guardian, make a file name Earth parasite and let our people focus mainly on this project, we need to find a way to neutralize this cell or better yet, a cure for monsters"

"And observe the people who'll be researching on this project carefully, I don't want a mad scientist abusing the knowledge of mutation"

"I give you full jurisdiction on this project, If the need arises you can terminate suspicious people for precaution" Ren said in a cold tone.

"Affirmative, sir" Guardian replied.

While the nearby researchers who heard his command felt a cold when looking at Ren who issued such a cruel command.

"Sir Nakamura, isn't this command too cruel?"

"Yeah, I don't wanna work in a dangerous environment like this, I have a family back home"

"Sir, can I join the other base?"

The people inside the room started panicking.

"Silence"

"The command I gave will only include people who work on this particular project, if you think it's a dangerous environment than you can go and join another project" Ren said in an annoyed tone.

"I'm only giving this command so that this project stays confidential, since monsters will only keep appearing in the future, we need to prepare"

Ren could understand their sentiments, since most of the people he had hired were brought blindfolded so that his self-made city wouldn't be exposed.

Most scientists who were brought to the base thought they were going to work on some illegal stuff with all the tight security.

But all Ren did was assign them to various practical experiments from his theories so that he could have a leisurely time from his busy schedule.

Though to this day, they still think there's something shady going on.

'SOMEONE'

'ANYONE'

'PLEASE HELP US'

'GOD PLEASE SPARE MY CHILD'

'MOMMY WAAAH'

'QUICKLY RUN!'

Ren was about to go to bed, but his ear twitches slightly and his face harden.

Opening his bedroom window, he sneak out and quickly flew away in the night sky, heading towards the city outskirt.

A few miles away from A-city.

Smoke was rising from the front engine of a black BMW, inside the car a child and his parents were struggling to get out.

"Dear take Giyu and quickly run toward the city" said a middle age man while looking at a silhouette gradually approaching.

"Hurry" he said urgently as he quickly dragged them out of the car.

Suddenly, a shadow loom over him.

Turning around he saw a giant monster with its entire body made of wood, fear gripped his heart, freezing him to a standstill.

The child mother panicked, holding her child tightly, she prayed in her heart.

"Mommy Waah" In a soundless night, a weeping voice rang out.

The sound of crying immediately woke him up.

"QUICKLY RUN!" The father shouted.

"Kid, how dare you throw a canned coke at my face, you humans have no respect for nature, driving around throwing trash and polluting nature everywhere"

"From now on no more will I Kodama tolerate you humans and your transgression on nature" Kodama said menacingly.

"Please leave my family alone, you can do whatever you want to me" the father said as he gave them a signal to run away.

Ignoring his words the Kodama swatted him like a fly, seeing the mother and child running in slow paced, he slowly approaches them.

"Waah Mommy I'm scared, what will happen to dad" the child said with tears streaming down his face.

"Don't worry, Dad will be fine" the mother said in a quivering voice while she ran as fast as she could.

A tree bark suddenly came crashing toward them.

Luckily, she manages to dodge it in time only for her to fall flat in the ground.

Kodama approach the mother ready to end her pathetic existence.

Gazing at a distance he saw a shimmering light gradually approaching him with high speed.

Suddenly, before he could react.

'BHAAM'

'BHOOOM'

Ren came flying in with supersonic speed and push him far away from the family.

Leaving a long line of destruction.

Destroying everything in its path.

Along with the road and trees, dust rose in the surrounding area.

A few kilometers away.

"Scanning the area" Guardian voice rang out

A red light scanned the surroundings.

'BANG'

A tree monster came out from the ground.

Its gaze fixed on the flying armored man.

"Take this" it shouted and started throwing a large boulder at Ren.

Ren flew around the sky and, dodging all the incoming attacks.

As the monster was about to throw another boulder.

'BOOM'

Ren immediately fires a repulsion beam from his palm.

As smoke rises Ren appears behind the monsters and kick the monster leg, breaking it immediately.

The monster, losing its center of gravity, fell to the ground.

With quick follow-up of combo, he started breaking all the monster limbs.

"EEEEKKKKKKK" the tree monster shriek, creating a strong sound wave.

Ren quickly backed off while hold his ears.

With his sensitive ears the sound wave affected him alot.

Kodama after losing his limbs got so angry that he stop caring about anything and his root started to dug through the ground.

Its body started growing larger and larger as he absorbs the nutrients of nearby roots.

"Human, you've made me angry!" it shouted in with red eyes and crazily absorb the nutrients.

Its height kept growing, 50 meters, 60, 100, 200 with no sign of stopping.

The trees nearby, in the radius of one kilometer, all started to weather rapidly, leaving only a husk of a shell.

Kodama shadow loom over the forest with its massive body.

Ren wanted to stop him, but it all happened too fast that he couldn't react on time.

Many roots started coming out of the ground like snakes, with a pointy sharp end, they all aim at Ren.

Flying around in the sky, Ren kept dodging.

'BHAAM'

Ren got struck into the ground as many roots started rampaging, hitting him everywhere.

Failing to react on time, he couldn't get out of this situation as they kept striking him with dust filling the area.

But the monster enraged it doesn't stop his rentless attack.

'BHOOM'x100

The ground was filled with craters along with broken trees, losing its mind to rage, Kodama kept hurling different kinds.

Ren kept receiving an endless barrage with no time to react, he got mad not being able to find a way out of his situation.

"ENOUGH!" Ren said angrily and release a strong burst of kinetic shockwave.

Destroying everything in the surrounding while at the same time knocking the giant monster away.

"ARGHHH, Human, how dare you!" Kodama got up and roar.

It charged madly towards Ren with both his arms and legs rushing forward.

Inside the crater, Ren draws a long breath.

Panting slightly, He shook off his head to get rid of his disoriented state.

'I didn't want to rely on external factors, but it seems I'm still not ready enough' he sighed softly.

He pulls out a small device from his utility belt, and it quickly expanded, turning into a two-handed sword.

It had gold coating with a dragon head connecting to its handle and had a sharp pointy end.

The sword body glowed slightly, and it read "Sword of justice"

A burst of gold color energy coated around both of the edges.

Seeing that, the gigantic monster was dashing over.

He took a long breath and calm his mind.

Gripping the sword tightly, Ren took a step forward.

The ground caved in as he vanished.

Suddenly, he appeared behind the monster.

"[VOID SLASH]" Ren said in a cold voice.

Behind him the monster suddenly halted its steps and looked behind only to realize Ren had passed over him without even noticing.

He didn't even manage to react before his body starts to split up in small pieces.

As if cut like a tofu.

For the first time, it felt fear.

But it was too late, with his body falling apart, silence regain its place.

Sorry, I was a few hours late in updating today chapter.

Unexpectedly, this chapter took me a lot longer to write.
