OP: Gun God

The Gun God descends and hails the deadly bullets from heaven. ... Okay, Usopp has been acting weird lately, it's like he's a different person. You think he ate something weird last week? I knew those shrooms from yesterday were suspicious.

Chapter 1

If somebody asks who the God of FPS was, they'd either receive a confused glance, ignored, or be called a geek.

But, amongs a certain fandom, which consists of at least half the population of the world.

They'd all tell the same name.

"Probably [SolomonOath]?"

...

What do you mean probably? Definition [SolomonOath]!

He's the world's rank 1 player in God Of Guns, a state of the art full dive VR FPS, consistently for years now. He's won several world championships, he's taken on many other uprising stars, old stars and peak stars and won.

He's undefeated, unbeatable, he's truly the Gun God.

But, as of this moment, [SolomonOath] real name, Elijah Thomas, was in a bit of a pickle.

Okay. Maybe a major pickle?

...

Fine. Elijah is fucked.

*

It all started after a normal PvP game defending his rank 1 position from various low quality stars, constant 1v1's and so. He decided to go outside for some fresh air as he's just had a crazy but usual 10 winstreak that he would probably make 100 by the end of the day.

He lived in some rich people hotel, rented by the team that he is in. So, it stands to reason that this place shoud be safe right?

Right?

Well, apparently no. Because, the next thing Elijah knows is that he was pushed and was now plummeting to his death.

And, that's the problem.

Elijah didn't want to die.

He wasn't a virgin.

He didn't have any revenge backstory either, no.

He left plenty of money for his little sister and parents to live to their fullest 5 times over.

No, those mundane stuff weren't the source of his regrets.

It was something even more world ending.

As Elijah watched the smooth pavement grow closer and closer, he could only shout his regret in hopes that something or someone might grant his one and only wish at the moment of death.

"MY BROWSER HISTORRRRRRRYYYYY!"

Splat.

*

Elijah gained consciousness all of the sudden, which was pretty weird. He does remember the splat.

He was afraid to try open his eyes because he might never see anything. Maybe, they saved him and he was now blind or he was in one of those telenovela coma where he could hear everything.

Haha. Yeah. Splat. No way.

So, with bated breath, as if his lungs suddenly had a literal whistle stuck in it, he opened his eyes with a weird squeak.

And, saw the sky. The sun. The world. Heavens.

Okay, maybe not.

He tried to sit up and wipe his face, but something weird and long was in the way.

"Ugh, feels like my nose."

Pat.

The tip was itchy.

He tried to feel for it.

...

Huh.

Yeah, so that's a really long damn nose.

"I can't even be shocked about this. Is this really what I think it is?"

He pinched his cheeks. Bit his knuckles. Slapped his tummy.

"Right. Reincarnation stuff..."

And, so. Elijah simply went back to lay down on the grass. There was no rush after all, if he was reincarnated then he'd figure out later, if not then that sucks.

Yep. No need to stress out.

[Mission: Shoot 10 Birds]

[Rewards: FPS interface, 100PTS]

[Status: Ongoing]

"A system too? Neat."

...

Oh fuck yeah.

"10 birds you say? Fine, this is going to be easy. I'm [SolomonOath] after all."

Elijah scanned his surroundings, and seeing as birds were flying quite freely above, he brought his attention to a sling shot nearby.

Which was awfully convenient.

He scoured for possible bullets nearby and picked about 15 stones. He was still a bit groggy.

"My accuracy should be at around 60% to 70% without my go to guns. But, that should be enough."

They're just birds after all.

Target Sighted, Aim, Shoot.

Piw. Pak.

Repeat.

Piw. Pak.

Again.

Piw.

Missed.

Piw. Pak.

Eventually, Elijah wasted 14 stones out of 15. Which was pretty bad for [SolomonOath].

"Eugh. I blame the weapon."

He didn't kill the birds. It's not like they'd die from just a slingshot. His mission was only to shoot them.

[Mission: Shoot the birds]

[Status: Finished]

His eyes blurred a bit, and then after a blink. Something new was added.

It was a crosshair.

A really, really familiar crosshair.

This was the crosshair for GunGod. Specifically, different ranks give different crosshairs for customization, and [SolomonOath] is the only person for the past years to have the honour of using this crosshair.

It was a crosshair that was in the shape of an X.

But, the special thing about it was that it was in the shape of... a small X.

...

Okay. Fine. It was useless aside from being gold than the usual red and circle.

"But, it did say interface. So, if it's GunGod, my username should be right above my head."

[Usopp]

Hm. Well damn. What the hell.

Shouldn't even bothered. Usopp dropped right back down at the grass.

"Weakest guy, even compared to that clown."

Ah. But, wasn't this almost the same case back when he just started GunGod.

He made [SolomonOath] without any attachments to it, tried the game and sucked. Then he wanted to quit because he was bad at it.

He reincarnated as Usopp and because he's weak he doesn't want to bother.

Then, he decided not to give up and keep practicing until he became rank 1 in GunGod and the name [SolomonOath] is known by any person and their grandmas (not).

So, why can't he try to do the same?

Usopp was considered weak in the source material because he just was, he was a coward, a liar, a cocky weakling, useless in most cases. Even his own voice actor said that he wanted Usopp to remain the weakest no matter what and the author probably took it for real.

...

"Fine."

Usopp sat up and lazily looked up at the skies. What's up with this lame ass setting, reincarnated as someone weak with a system that somehow is thematically correct in a world that goofy as hell?

It's so boring. Instead...

He slowly aimed the slingshot at the skies.

"Why don't I shoot down the heavens?"

...

Gaaaaaah. Amagawd. Oh lawd he cringe.

Usopp covered his face with his arms and subsequently rolled on the grass to shake it off.

"Oh man. Oh Goddamn man. I hope no one heard that. I really hope I forget I ever said that."

Gaaaaaah. Cringe. Cringe.

No, seriously.

"What the hell am I even supposed to do?"

And, then following those mission prompts was the all too familiar stat page.

[Usopp]

[STR: 5]

[AGI: 15]

[INT: 10]

[VIT: 5]

[+1 = 100PTS]

[Marksmanhip 3/5]

[Engineering 1/5]

[Bluff 2/5]

[Instinct 4/5]

[+1 = 1000PTS]

[PTS: 5100]

...

"GunGod didn't have this. So, I can improve skills too? GunGod only had stat pages for solo PvP, but even then it was a point per level instead of whatever PTS is, but it shouldn't really matter. The stats are still the same."

Usopp placed a finger to his chin. Taking in a semi-thinking pose.

"How to build Usopp. An ordinary long range sniper? Or a medium range slinger? He's good with slingshots, but I don't think I can recreate most CC bullets like in GunGod"

Ah.

"But, Usopp did have his own type of pellets that were similar to CC bullets. But, nah. Usopp is weak close range, but excels as a sniper. So, maybe a Reap Sniper? But, they're too squishy and in this world, too squishy is bad. Ah, no. Let's try thinking ahead..."

Future missions had blueprints for SMG and Sniper, which was kind of a dead giveaway at what this thing wants Usopp to choose. But, again.

This isn't GunGod. Why the hell would he limit himself like that?

"That's right, there's no such thing as levels in this one. Which means... I'm free to raise any stat with no limits. Which then means..."

Usopp's eyes grew smug.

"I don't have to choose a build, when I can just be all the build."

Usopp quickly decided to see what he can do with his 5100PTS.

"Instinct seems useful, and it's got 4 out of 5 levels, it's worth it no?"

[Instinct 5/5]

And, then... Marksmanhip, although I don't REALLY need it. Better max it.

[Marksmanship 5/5]

"3000PTS gone. Reduced to skill points."

[Marksmanship has evolved to Advanced Marksmanship]

[Instinct has evolved to Observation Haki]

...

A smug look came to Usopp's face.

"See? Actual genius here and– woah, observation is trippy."

It was as if like, I viewed the game from the perspective of a watcher of my gaming stream.

Which was trippy because I'm experiencing it at first person, which sounds weird, but Haki is weird anyways.

"Enough levels of this and it becomes future prediction, huh?"

[Observation Haki 1/10]

[Advanced Marksmanship 1/10]

"Of course. Classic. What a grind... it's going to increase to maybe 20 to 25 points is it?"

A small price to pay for OP-ness. Not that he needs better marksmanship.

He's [SolomonOath] after all.

Usopp finally, for real this time, stands up and stretches.

"Alright, path to becoming the number 1 marksman in this world? I technically already am, but let's go!"

And so, starts the adventures of the Gun God. Who doesn't use guns the way you're actually supposed to, but he's massacring countless enemies, so I guess it works?
