Inside the elevator, Jett Adler's brows furrowed into a tight frown when he recognized the woman beside him to be the one who seemed to be having a fight with her hospital from the hospital earlier.
The same one whom he had met at the airport and yesterday morning.
He scoffed slightly and slid his hands into his pockets.
She had graduated from making it look like their meeting was a pure coincidence into shameless rushing into his private elevator.
Despite meeting with her husband just an hour ago, she was already trying to hit on him.
The boldness of this woman.
Did she think she would be able to sway him with her beauty?
Just what kind of a man did she take him for?
As he had these thoughts, Kelsie suddenly realized whom she was in the elevator with.
And to think she had tried her best not to come this close to him.
Right. She would just apologize for barging into his elevator and hoped he'd give her the cold treatment and say nothing.
With that plan in mind, she raised her eyes to look at him, but it was at this moment that Jett also made up his mind to turn to her.
When his eyes met hers, the frown on his face tightened even more and he hummed coldly, "Don't even think about if."
"What?" Kelsie blurted out and narrowed her eyes at him in confusion.
He didn't need her apology?
If he didn't need it, then could it be they were in just another elevator in the building, not his personal elevator?
As she wondered this, a look of disgust flickered through the man's eyes as he saw the confused look in her eyes.
He had been in the company of several women and knew this was the face they always pulled whenever they realized they had been seen through.
"You were in a hurry and the other elevators were filled, so you couldn't help rushing into mine, isn't that what you're about to say?" The man recounted in a mocking tone.
Although having no idea why it sounded like he was mocking her, she nodded in agreement.
"Yes, that's why I'm here."
The corners of the man's lips curled up in disdain as he turned away from her.
"You women should come up with better ways to tell lies. I know I'm irresistible and wealthy, but a woman like you shouldn't look at me for too long. Have some shame, will you?"
Kelsie was even more confused.
A woman like her shouldn't look at him for too long? Shame?
What was this man going on about? When had she ever looked at him for long?
This was the first time she was looking at him for more than a second.
And what was this about him being irresistible? The only good thing about him was his height.
Irresistible, her foot!
As she had this inner monologue, she failed to realize she had her eyes pinned on him.
As a result, the man concluded he was right with his assumptions and snorted.
"Which floor are you getting off at?"
In as much as she wanted to defend herself, she didn't want to spend any more time with a rude and narcissistic man like this.
So she just turned her eyes to her front and replied, "25."
As she man pressed the button for floor 25, he immediately began chiding her, "Your husband must be working his ass off to give you a comfortable life if you're living in floor 25, but instead of being loyal to him, you have your eyes on another man. You should be ashamed of yourself!"
As someone who usually didn't care what other people thought of her, hearing him tell her to have some shame twice was really offending.
Hence, she turned to glare at him, "Hey, watch what you're…"
The man interrupted her when he turned and carefully pulled her by the sleeve, then shoved her out of the elevator with the words, "Don't get into my elevator ever again and stay far away from me after today."
In the corridor of floor 25, Kelsie massaged the middle of her forehead for a second before she exhaled three times in anger.
She had better things to worry about than what he had just said to her. So instead of dwelling on what he said, she just got into the elevator again and headed up to the 49th floor.
When she got to her apartment, she found Jesse and Zade sitting by Keira's side as they hugged her tightly to themself.
Keira stared into the air blankly, the usual liveliness in her eyes gone.
Kelsie carefully slipped out the envelope she had taken from Callum Shaw and opened it.
She took out a tiny transparent glass bottle which looked like an eye drop of about 7 millimeters from it.
Then sat beside Keira and transferred her to sit on her lap. Raised her eyes and dropped the liquid into her eyes until there was nothing remaining.
As soon as she finished, Keira's eyelashes fluttered a few times before her tight grip around Kelsie loosened and she fell asleep.
Kelsie picked up the envelope and her eyes fell slightly seeing the remaining one bottle in it.
Upstairs, Eric Lance walked into the master bedroom and walked up to Jett who was sitting on his swivel chair, with his face raised towards the ceiling and his eyes wide open.
Although his eyes were the same, there was blankness in them.
Eric walked up to him and procured an eye drop bottle of about 7 millimetres from his breast pocket and dropped it into his eyes until there was nothing remaining.
Then he took a step backward and respectfully lowered his eyes to the floor.
"I've moved all activities for the day to tomorrow. If anything pops up, I will take care of it in the. In the meantime, don't be in a hurry to wake up again."
Jett hummed lightly and his tensed muscles slowly relaxed as he instantly fell asleep.
