Chapter 15 Making Alliance

In the evening, a man appeared at our door to drop off the box sent by Paul Miller for me.

Curiously, when I opened the box I found a dress which looked awesomely expensive.

Taking it out, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Has the man dropped someone else’s parcel here?

How could Paul Miller send such a beautiful dress for me?

I doubt.

“See, Amy, I told you how much your father cares for you…” My mother beamed at her husband’s generosity, but I don’t believe in his generosity at all.

Paul Miller could be anything, but generous, and to me?

It’s an out-of-frame question.

This could never happen.

I pulled the dress higher in order to inspect it carefully and my mother gasped in awe behind me.

“Look, Amy…. This is so gorgeous.

Tonight, your father wants you to look the best of all…”

Her eyes twinkled as she spoke, while my eyes narrowed further at the dress.

What is it about this event which made Paul Miller spend such a large amount of money on me?
