Chapter 65
Barnaby had been waiting for him, because as soon as he approached the front door it opened. Without a word, his brother pulled him into the house and into a hug. Calvin made sure it was brief, because too much and he would start balling like a baby. He was on the verge as it was, and Calvin did not cry.
“I got some of that green tea you like, just for you,” Barnaby announced. “I’ve made some for you.”
Calvin forced a smile. He thought he had cracked his face doing it, but at least he’d made something of an effort. “Thanks.”
Barnaby eyed him sadly, took his hand, and led him into the kitchen where his tea was steeping. “Tell me what happened.”
Calvin accepted the mug of tea after Barnaby had discarded the tea bag. “Well, I guess Matt was never really in to me at all.”
“What? I can’t believe that.”
He nodded, forcing away the pain as best he could. “It’s true. I found out it was all some stupid game.”
Barnaby frowned. “What are you talking about?”
