Tate had told Luke to do his best. He had Luke's back. Now that Luke stood outside Lexy's hotel room, he drew from that encouragement. This dinner felt like it came with a lot of pressure. Why was beyond him.
It wasn't like he had a huge investment in dating Lexy. The time he'd spent with her had been fun and sometimes a real turn on, but he'd not fully invested his heart yet. It was more like wanted to invest his heart in her or someone because so many of his inner circle were pairing up. He felt he should too.
Luke also found Lexy a rarity in a world filled with fake people with fake smiles. So many of those people were eager to get close to him only to slip a hand in his wallet and see how much they could walk away with. The minute they did, bile would rise in the back of his throat, and he was done with them.
