Bastard of Mourya

" Look at that bastard…. "

" Sleeping without a care in the world…. "

" I tell ya' they say all bastards are devil spawns…"

Marv felt wind on his cheeks, smell of grass and nature like warm ; sunny spring afternoon. And when his senses became focused he was hit by the noise of people chattering ; hammering ; shouting and cursing.

Marv shot open his eyes.

Something was wrong here, there was no spring in his 6 by 6 room and certainly no old sweaty, shirtless dudes either. He was under a giant tree, and beside him was a pickaxe made of stone.

" Wake up ! you lazy bastard enough with this shit… " one muscled dude said, kicking Marv in the legs.

" Yeah, we all know there is no pain in your stomach, and even if there is ; no one cares. " another old dude chimed in, settling his face on the butt of a shovel.

" Look boy we get it that you are a lazy bum of a nobility, but we have to finish our quota or that bastard Petrov will cut our rations again. " continued the muscled dude.

'What in the hell is going on and why are this ugly fuckers lecturing me for no reason ?!'

He decided it was wise of him for now to stand up, grab his pickaxe; if it was mine to begin with and start following the two guys in case he was kidnapped or something. But for some reason everything looked a little bigger than him, and then Marv saw his reflection in the puddle ; it was definitely not the face of Marv - the twice-failed law student.

'emerald green eyes, dirt silver long braided hair ; and dark skin tone. nope not me - not in a thousand years ! but it does seem kind of familiar, like some anime characters or… oh shit !! it's Kaalkey Mourya from kingdom & glory !'

A pebble landed in a puddle and splashed mud & water on his newly acquired handsome face which broke his thought process. Looking in the direction from where it was thrown two topless dudes were fuming with rage ; jumping up and down, calling names that were definitely not PG13. Marv or now known as Kaal trailed after them into a tunnel which was a coal mine judging from the black spots here and there.

Few minutes later….

It was hell, Kaal passed out twice before his so-called group threw him out to dry like dirty laundry. This body was weak. And not like ' can't run a marathon weak', it was 'I can't even walk two minutes without sweating weak'. Kaal was once again laying under the tree looking aimlessly at the vast sky.

Kingdom & Glory was the most anticipated recently released AAA gaming title. It was everything people had hoped for. A third person role playing game in which one could play as any of the 16 characters, one of them was even a villain. Story revolved around the 16 characters in which one had to clear various quests and collect glory points. There was no clear ending to the story yet - one could say that the more glory points you had the more successful you were. One could achieve them by doing feats such as conquering another kingdom, making important connections, inventing new potions and magic tools, discovering new lands, and most importantly killing people.

The reason Kaal recognized this character in an instant was because he was obsessed with this game ; so much so that he even failed his lawyer exams because of this game. What started as a joke while playing a villain character had made his Youtube channel soar through heaven.

As Kaal was eternally single he hated all the mc cringey romance scenes in the game ; so he started playing as a villain character and tore down every flag in any character's relationships. And not just that, while killing a most annoying gold digger heroine of one of the cringey shonen hero characters, Kaal discovered that he got a tremendous amount of glory points for showing amazing creativity in various killing methods. From there after he just slaughtered his way to becoming top 3 in world ranking leaderboards. On social media people hated him like religion ; entire groups and websites were created in his opposition, people were hellbent on never letting Kaal be the top player in the world so they started supporting all kinds of other players.

Kaal conquered kingdom after kingdom in his quest to become an emperor. Kaal was even the first player to discover that when you conquer 17 kingdoms ; you get an invite from heaven to a different server in another smaller planet where you could pvp against other conquers. And even to this day only his flag was standing on that planet of the 'Starsea Challenge Region'.

The only problem was that the Mourya kingdom or more specifically Kaalkey Mourya was sentenced to work in black mines of north-east area by himself when Kaal was playing as the villain character - Solo Nightmare. Kaalkey Mourya was also one of the main characters one could play as ; his father was the king of a little kingdom called Mourya in the north. Marv had killed his entire family as a Solo Nightmare & sent Kaal to work in the mines. It was pretty early on in the game so Kaal still had some morals left in him ; that's why Marv sent Kaal here because he was a bastard son of Mourya king. Kaal was already treated as a dog in the palace so Marv pitied him.

'If i am in the north - east mines and since i look like Kaalkey Mourya it's safe to assume i am in my own gameplay as a Solo Nightmare.' Because Marv was the only one who sent Kaal here ; every other player liked Kaalkey Mourya so much because of his backstory and the potential to become a Swordmaster. They always recruited him after conquering Mourya kingdom.

'I still look like a 11 year old kid so it must be pretty early on in the game.'

Kaal was not sure when he fell asleep but when he woke up all the prisoners were lining up for food in the distance. Kaal got up, washed his hands and face and joined them in line. His group sneered at him when he joined them but nobody said anything else.

After eating his dinner with his group of posse, Kaal got up and walked up front facing them ; making eye contact with each and every one of them he said loudly in grandeur..

"My friends…..let's escape this prison !!"

The reaction was as expected. Everyone stopped eating for a second and looked at him like he was some annoying beggar on the side of the street. Few even cursed at him, most just ignored him. The dudes from earlier even threw some pebbles at him.

Kaal endured it all, he knew these people had tried time and time again to do what he suggested but not even once was anyone ever successfully escaped from these mines ; until Kaalkey Mourya in game does so by killing all the supervisors and becoming Swordmaster at the age of 25. And even then he succeeded only because he found an ancient sword artefact named "Hellbringer." but that's still deep in the mines. He was not worried though, because he had something better.

There was nothing he could say that would encourage these guys to revolt. So he showed them….

Kaal took a deep breath, catching some of the guys' attention back to him. And then he started saying the oath these lands had never listened to in the past 100 years.

The oath of binding..

" My hands for justice

My mind for judgment

My heart for suffering

I bind thee of the abyss

Hear my call O' long forgotten…"

And then Kaal started to glow. His innate energy flows from inside him like a caged beast. The pain in his stomach dissipated, his weak constitution because of holding so much energy in his body without losing his senses grew strong as steel. His senses were enhanced 10 times from normal. And a glowing green sword made of pure magical energy formed in his hands.

And the world witnessed the birth of "Abyss knight" for the first time in 100 years.
