Explosion part 3

A/N: Alright part three!

Elodie's POV:

Pushing the horses to follow my faster pace was my second mistake of the day the first being not being able to take care of Nica and the other campers. The horses gave out after a few hours from the rapid pace, and we had to stop to rest we had brought feed and water and once they were well-rested, they would be carrying a lighter load.

The girl we had rescued, Kumi, had not spoken a word since we've stopped and hadn't said anything while they were one the horses. The rest of them had talked a bit in hushed voices and now we're sitting in different groups Àine, and Lilly sat near the fire they had started while Cever and his Knight's tended to the horses and had put themselves on patrol for the time being. I sat quite a bit away as my thoughts were swirling around my head berating me for all the bad decisions I had made throughout the day.

I was giddy and wanted to get going because of my pressing thoughts about them not making it. I had to pull myself together before my emotions get out of hand if I shifted because of my emotions, they'd have nothing to calm me down. Magic might restrain me but unless they know how to forcibly shift me back then I'd stay a werewolf till going back to camp. And if I did shift, I could get out of control because of strong emotions.

I tried grounding myself and shaking my head so the thoughts would go away it worked a bit, but the constant worry I could feel in myself and my other packmates. I stood up abruptly needing to take a walk to clear my mind and rid it of the awful thoughts. I walked away from the fire and away from them.

As I walked, I could hear footsteps coming from behind me, I continued walking it could be an animal or one of the other campers. When the footsteps started getting faster and closer, I stopped and turned around towards the direction of the sound. As Kumi came through the trees... so she was the footsteps.

I tilted my head in confusion at why she was here, I didn't feel like talking or comforting. Why was she following me? She looked back at me her expression also filled with distrust and curiosity.

"What happened to my girlfriend and where did she go?" She asked, her voice filled with distrust and suspicion. I sighed in exasperation and crossed my arms, I could see why she didn't trust us she woke up on top of my shoulders, we hadn't really answered her questions and her girlfriend had been taken back to camp before she could see her.

"She was taken back to camp because she was caught inside the base when the bomb blew up and Skyler our angel who we had come get your girlfriend along with Àine and one of Cever's knights. He teleported with your girlfriend and my packmate Nica as they both were severely injured," I told her in a monotone voice as I looked right into her eyes, not feeling enough energy to be able to show any emotion beside slight irritation.

"What do you mean camp?" She said mirroring my action of crossing my arms. I moved a hand to rub my face slowly not really wanting to talk or deal with this even though normally I'd jump at the opportunity of telling her all about camp and comforting her. But I just couldn't bring myself to do that this time, but I managed to put on a small smile.

"It's a camp for supernatural beings and everyone different from the humans," she looked even more curious, and her posture became loose. I could see her many questions just by the look on her face. I let out another sigh and started walking back the way we came so she could ask everyone questions and get to know others and we could also sit down. She followed behind me and I could still feel her distrust, but her curiosity was winning.

Once we came back to where the camp was the others were frantically looking around and when they saw Kumi they immediately let out a collective sigh of relief. I came closer and sat down motioning for everyone to do the same, Cever's knights opted to keep watch, once we were all sitting, I motioned for Kumi to ask her questions.

"If you all live in a camp, where did you guys come from before that, or did you always live there?" She asked her first question, and I could tell it wasn't the only one and that she was trying hard to keep them all in so we could answer.

"Well, I lived as a witch in New Orleans with my mom's before being brought to the camp," Lilly was the first to speak answering confidently.

"I was ruling my kingdom in my universe before being transported here to this modern one," Cever answered next with a little distaste.

"I was my princesses, Enyo Pendragon's handmaiden and I was a powerful sorceress back in Camelot before we were transported here together," Aine said.

"I lived with my whole pack before going to the camp with my smaller pack," I was the last to answer. And after that, there were a few more questions before the knights came back and told us the horses were ready to go.

The others got them prepared to ride and once they were on the horses and ready, we were off, riding back towards camp.

-Camp-

Hel's POV:

Once I got wind that some of the members from the mission had come back in critical condition, I had rushed to the med tent, hoping it wasn't Nica as I had been worried sick about her since she left, I got closer, and my worrying thoughts heightened as I saw four out of the six pack members surrounding the entrance of the tent. All the expressions held worry and concern I sped up.

"Guys, who's in there?" I asked worry evident in my voice. All four of them turned to me, Nico looked like a wreck in fact all of them looked like a wreck. I could feel a sinking feeling it was either Elodie or Nica or maybe both of them which was bad, really bad. I stormed into the tent to see one of the girls they had gone to go save on a cot getting treated for second-degree burns while the cot next to it held...

Nica!

I was in shock for a moment as I looked up and down Nica's body which was wrapped in bandages almost everywhere. I came closer to her cot and pulled up a chair and just plopped down knowing now no one would ask me to leave. I gently took her hand in mine being careful not to hold it too hard so it didn't hurt her more than she was, and I brought it up to my face so I could gently place a kiss on her injured hand.

The rest of the pack came in with all their ears down to show their distress and they all took chairs from around the tent and bring them to Nica's cot and they all dropped down onto their seats.
