Chapter 6: Gunshot

T H E A

The library has a circular shape and there are bookshelves attached to the wall. It has a vintage design, but it is actually quite modern. There is a mini-machine where you will only type a keyword of a book you want to read, then it will find all of the possible books, and it will bring it down for you. You only have to wait for it to finish its search, then ta-da! You have your book.

I'm with Apollo in the library. We sat in front of each other, reading our chosen books. He is reading a book about programming while I'm reading a science-related book.

"You love programming, but why did you choose medicine?" I asked, making him avert his gaze towards my direction. He really looks so cute!!! His body is a bit petite and he looks like a nerd, but he is so cute!

"I'll transfer to a different major next year. I just followed my parents' wish, for now. It's fine with me since I already studied the 1st year computer science lessons," He answered, and I nodded in agreement, then averted my focus back on my book.

"How about you? I thought the major you want is business management?" He asked.

"Didn't you know? Every student here has one or two majors. Business management is a must in this school. There are three types of majors here. Mandatory major, which is business management; Main major, the course you really want and where your focus is; Sub major, can be one or more courses that you're interested in."

"So your main major is medicine?" He asked.

"Nope. Medicine and Audio Production are my sub-major. My main is the mandatory major. Mandatory major and sub majors will only teach you the basics, everything else is a self-study, but the exams are hard since it is more on the application not written. Don't you have any sub-major?" I asked.

"I just found out about the type of major. Maybe next week, they might be fixing something," he answered.

"By the way..." Should I really ask him? What will he answer though? I'm so nervous!

"What is it?" He asked, looking straight into my eyes.

"Do you...have anyone you like or love now?" I asked, trying not to avert my gaze away from his eyes.

"Study first. I don't want to enter any relationship until I reached my goals. But it doesn't mean that I don't have that someone I love. I want the two of us to reach our goals first before I ask her to be mine. Being in a relationship can get her hurt and distract her, I don't want that. I want her to be happy and successful. You don't have to be in a relationship to have that special person as your inspiration, she is my inspiration even if she is not yet mine," he answered, and returned his focus on his book.

Even though he is dense, he is really sweet. The girl he likes is really lucky. He is smart, not only in academics but also in love. He is very hard to read, in terms of love, but in terms of other things, he is like an open book. I know him like the back of my hand, but his love interest is my main puzzle.

"What do you wanna sing?" I asked Chase. We are in the music room. The music room has a vintage design, but all the equipment is the latest technology. There is also a part where all types of instruments are available.

"Who are you dating now?" He asked, making me stop. He is as straightforward as before.

"I can date whoever I want to date," I replied.

"And let your heart get played again? Is that it, Julia?" He asked, clearly pissed.

"Why do you care so much, if I get hurt again?! I like the person, what can I do? He also likes me, what's wrong about it?!" I almost shouted.

"You don't like that jerk! You're just using him to fill that void in your heart! Stop breaking your heart, Julia... It's breaking my heart too. We both know that I'm the only one who can fill that void in your heart..." I can clearly see the pain and sadness in his eyes. Who is he to decide that? But... I do agree...

"Then, be my boyfriend. Choose me over that girl you are forced to be engaged with! Show me that you love me...fight for me, my love..." My tears start to drop, one by one.

"I can't...not yet. Can you...give me more time?"

"This bullshit again! Time? I already gave you six years! Do you even know how hard it is to see the guy you love, holding hands, and being sweet with another girl?! I don't care if they play with my heart. They can temporarily fill the void inside my heart. That's enough for me than waiting for a jerk who will just torture my heart!"

"Stop letting them play with your heart! If I have to hurt you just to save you from further pain, then I will!"

"The one who is breaking my heart the most is you!" After I said those words, he didn't answer for a while, shock, and pain evident in his face.

"I... I'm sorry. I just... don't want any other guy near you. I don't want to see you get hurt. I just want you to be happy...I want to be the one who makes you happy. But in the end... I'm the one who hurts you the most... I'm really sorry, my love..." he said, and for the first time, I saw him cry.

I can't stop myself, and I ended up hugging him. We cried and cried in each other's arms.

His family is cruel. We both love each other deeply, but they did everything to force us to forget our feelings. But it's the opposite. We loved each other more, even if he is already forced to get engaged.

I dated many boys just to ease the pain, every time I see them together. They managed to fill the void in my heart, but only temporarily. We are both dating someone else, but we still loved each other deeper than before.

We are basically torturing ourselves. Can we rewrite everything? I just want to be happy with him. That's my only wish.

Some minutes have passed, when the alarm suddenly activated. "What's going on?" Chase asked, wiping his tears.

"An intruder," I said, and quickly fixed myself. When we are all good, we went back to the living room.

"Who is it?" I asked the moment we arrived. Everyone is already here.

"All of the CCTV is off for some reason," Naomi said, making us shut our mouths. We turned off the cameras in our chosen places.

"I know you idiots did it. Now we need to hunt those trespassers the hard way," She said, quite frustrated. We can't even look at her direction, because it is clear that she is quite pissed.

"Let's go get some blades and guns. For safety purposes only," She said and pushed a button on the watch in her wrist. The cabinets, sofas, and walls opened, revealing different types of weapons.

I took a Sniper rifle and a dagger. Pistols for Thea, ax for Nike, and rapier for Alexa. Naomi took a bunch of daggers, two pistols, and a scythe.

Kyousuke took a katana, kunai, and daggers for Chase, and pistols for Elijah, Apollo, at Ares.

"Let's go hunting?" Naomi asked. "By pair?" I asked. They all agreed, except for Naomi. "You don't want to?" Ares asked. "I just have a bad feeling...can we stick together?" Naomi replied, looking away.

"Sure." We first went to the pool area, and we guessed right, the intruders are there.

"What are you doing here," Naomi stated. Why do I feel cold? This girl is really scary when she is mad.

"Is this place yours? So you're the so-called, demon queen? It's nice to finally meet you, Naomi Shiba," The man standing in front of the intruders stated. Why does he look familiar?

"Who the hell are you, and what are you doing in my place." She asked, more like stated.

"I'm...Adonis Caedem. The boy who killed someone for you. And here you are, asking me who I am. Why do you have to forget me, my lovely queen?" He asked, making all of us stop.

Shit! Is he the one who kill Naomi's childhood friend? But if I'm right, she is his sister! And also, Naomi has amnesia. It might trigger her memories, and it's bad news if that happens. We need to make that boy leave.

"I do not know you," Naomi sternly stated, then she started to shoot their group. We then exchanged bullets, some of them got shot, but they are still many of them.

"My lady, do you hate me that much? Why won't you love me?" I heard Adonis said. We heard a gunshot the same time Ares fell down to the floor.
