Aaron's House

Kani's POV

I sat on Aaron's bed in his light blue room. I had my legs crossed and his computer on my lap looking at clothes that I wanted, but could never get.

Aaron steps out of his closet and rolls his eyes. He sits in front of me with his legs crossed.

"Your no fun and your not even helping me choose an outfit." He says looking at me.

I closed the laptop and put it next to me."I'm a very fun person your just mad that you can't see the fun side of me and Luke wants a date with you not your clothes."

"Whatever and since you interrogated Luke and our relationship I'm going to interrogate you." Aaron said with a sudden smug look on his face.

I raise an eyebrow at him. I sit criss-crossed on his bed to face him better.

"So how's my ship?"

"We're fine we're just friends, we hangout, we pretend." I said while rolling my eyes at him.

"Do like pretending?" He looked at me like he already knew the answer and knowing him he probably did.

I looked at his bed sheet and fiddled with it while I spoke."Not...really..."

Aaron gasped dramatically."Kani are you actually saying that you don't want to be in a pretend relationship anymore?!"

I pulled at the sheet a little harder while I spoke." No, I don't know." I admitted.

"Fake relationship's never work Kani. Someone has to fall in love with another. Love can't be toyed with you know." Aaron sounded like some expert, but what does he know.

"I guess, but sometimes I would let myself forget that we're just pretending. I would just have fun and I guess he's not really an idiot that I make him out to be." I said as I remembered all the stupid things we've done together.

Aaron lied down on his back still in front of me."You're in love with him aren't you?"

I look up at him, but he keeps his focus on the ceiling of his room."Yeah, I guess I am, but I can't love him."

"Why not? Is he that bad?" Aaron said now hugging a pillow.

"No, he said so himself. He needs to find the right one. He only sees me as a friend and that's how I should see him too, but it's hard." I said and started playing with my curly hair.

"Whatever happens I'm here for you Kani. If he breaks your heart I'll get Luke to beat him up." Aaron said proudly.

"Thanks Aaron your the best." I said in between laughs.

I got message on my phone it was from my mom." I've gotta go my mom has an important announcement she wants to share with the whole family."

"Sure just lock my door on your way out. Audrey tends to bust in through the door when I'm too quiet." Aaron said and rolled his eyes.

I laughed again. I got out of bed and proceed to walk home.

I arrive through the front door and was immediately greeted by my mom.

"Kani your finally here come on have a seat." She says as she leads me to the living with my family seated.

I put my backpack down and sat next to Safari who was on her phone."What's this about?" I whisper to her.

"Some family is coming to stay with us and she wants to tell us, but I already knew about the whole thing." She whispered back.

My mom sat in the arm chair on the left side of the room facing us."I gathered you all here, because I thought it would be nice if our empty rooms had been filled."

"Mom we already have our own rooms." Devanie said angrily.

She wore her butterfly hair pins to hold back her giant afro from her face. She was in a blue overall with a green stripped sleeved shirt under and her red converse.

"I have invited a family from Australia to come and live here until they get a new home. They also have a son so Kani you and him would be great friends." My mom says happily.

This family and their son sound oddly familiar.

I sighed. Our house was already crowded enough. With Safari coming back and forth from college and Devanie in third grade, and me who is struggling to stay alive in my Sophomore year.

"I'm not dealing with this." Safari said as she got up from her seat and went to her room.

"Our house is already crowded. Why can't they stay somewhere else, plus boys are icky and gross." Devanie said crossing her arms angrily.

"It'll be a nice experience so be nice to them when they arrive. They'll be here tomorrow afternoon." My mom said and looked at her family proudly.

"Alright, this was fun, but I'm going to my room." I said as I got up and went upstairs. My dad had fallen asleep while my mom was explaining. Oh well.

I flop on my bed in exhaustion. Boys just love to enter my life don't they?

I get a message from my phone so I answer it. It was from Jason. I forgot I gave him my phone number.

Jason_the_idiot: hey cupcake

Kani: don't call me that

Jason_the_idiot: why do you sound so angry? To make you feel better I even changed my name

Kani: it's the perfect name for you

Jason_the_idiot: hey! I put some real thought into this name

Kani: how so

Jason_the_idiot: I only get it from the best cupcake

Kani: don't you have any other nickname besides cupcake

Jason_the_idiot: how about honey

Kani: gross we'll sound like a married couple

Jason_the_idiot: how about flower

Kani: nope

Jason_the_idiot: marshmallow??

Kani: really come on!

Jason_thd_idiot: fine how about..

Jason_the_idiot:Cookie?

Kani_the_Cookie: I like it

Jason_the_idiot: aww how cute

Kani: I'll punch you through the phone

Jason_the_idiot: okay I'll stop

Kani_the_cookie: your an idiot

Jason_the_idiot: and your a cookie 🍪🍪🍪

I rolled my eyes and put my phone down.

He's an idiot.
