We all huddled around the small wooden box on the table. We are currently in Alex’s room, deciding on what to do.
“Should I open it?” Alex asked.
“We might as well, right?” Lady Viola voiced. “Isn’t that why we came back with the box instead of opening it on Church’s grounds?”
“Alright, Alex, open it,” I said.
Alex took a deep breath and opened the box. Inside was a small golden cross on a red cushion with a purple gem in the center. It was only two inches big in size. I assumed it was gonna be bigger.
“Take it out, Alex,” I voiced.
“What? Why am I the one touching it? You touch it!”
“It was entrusted to you, wasn’t it? So you should be the one to hold it,” I reasoned.
“I also agree,” said Lady Viola.
“But what if something happens to me?! L-Like…” Alex thought about her excuse. “Like what if I get electrocuted when I touch it?!”
I rolled my eyes. “Now you're just exaggerating, Alex.”
“Am I, Reiré? Am I?” she challenged.
