"Students, stop talking and try to solve the problems." The teacher said loudly.

They stopped talking immediately. The teacher looked at the boy sitting behind Lina Ran. He was lost in the world of mathematics. The teacher smiled.

Everyone knew that in his class only Davis Lane was serious about his studies. He was proud of their school. The only thing that has always stood in the way of his progress was his poverty. Although he was poor, he never accepted any help from anyone. All the teachers tried to help Davis Lane financially, but he refused it politely. Everyone knew that he had to work in a restaurant after school to cover his allowances. The teacher sighed.

"Sir. I have done." The teacher snapped back to the present to hear the voice.

"Oh.Davis! Have you done it? It's too early to solve all those problems. Have you solved all the twenty problems?" The teacher asked him in a surprised tone.

"Yes sir. I have solved all the problems." Davis Lane replied with a small nod as he handed the teacher his notebook.

"Ok. Please go to your seat. Let me check it." The teacher said with a smile.

Davis Lane nodded and went back to his seat. As he was returning to his seat, his eyes stopped in his face for a second without realizing.

'What is it? Why am I doing this? I should keep myself away from those types of things.'He thought and shifted his gaze immediately.

"Well done Davis. You have solved every problem correctly. Keep it up. Students, you should learn something from this boy. You always keep yourself busy doing unnecessary things. You should study hard instead of wasting your time. "The teacher said in a serious tone."Next year you are going to appear in the board exams. How will you be able to pass the exam like this? Try to solve all these problems yourself. I am giving you one day to complete it. Show me your notebooks tomorrow. Now your class is over."

All the students yelled loudly as their teacher left. It was their lunchtime. Everyone left the class hurriedly with their lunch boxes. Lina Ran stole a glance at Davis Lane and left with Dora.

"Hey, Davis. Let us go to the canteen. Today we will have our lunch there." Davis's Friend Kairo said.

"No Kairo. Today I will not go anywhere. I have not completed my homework yet. I have to complete all these now. You go and have your lunch." Davis Lane replied without looking at him.

Kairo said nothing. He looked at him and left. He returned after ten minutes with two packets of lunch with him.

"Here, take this. As you are too busy to go to the canteen, I have brought lunch for you here. Now hurry up and eat ." Kairo said and handed him a packet of lunch.

"Thank you, Kairo, but I can not accept it. You have already done a lot for me." Davis Lane tried to return the packet to Kairo.

"Davis, Please accept it. I have not done any great thing after all. You have been helping me to complete my homework for all these years. Otherwise, I would have been scolded by our teachers. Isn't it? It is just lunch, which I can share with you. Now don't waste time. We have only fifteen minutes now." Kairo said and opened his lunch packet.

"Thank you, Kairo. You are so nice to me. Someday I will return all your favor." Davis Lane smiled and said.

"No need to return anything. Now let us have it before it gets cold." Kairo opened the lunch packet and both of them had their lunch together.

Kairo knew that Davis's mother died when he was only five years old. His father also had some chronic diseases. He could not get proper treatment due to a shortage of money. He was a street vegetable vendor. Most of the time he could not go to sell his vegetables due to poor health. Davis Lane had to work in a restaurant on a part-time basis after school.

The expanses of Davis's study were somehow managed by earning from the salary he got from the restaurant. They have to starve often if their father could not go to the shop. Kairo knew that as Davis Lane had not brought his lunch that day, then he must be starving.

He always tried to help Davis. Although Davis Lane never wanted to accept anyone's help, as a good friend of Davis, Kairo knew how to persuade him to accept his help.

The Excel care International School was listed as the best school in the country. Almost all rich parents' first preference was that school for their kids. The fees of the school were too high. So no poor student even thinks about getting admission there.

But a few years back the school management decided to introduce a scholarship program for the students, who are good in their studies but could not afford the fees of the school. They decided to select one student every year for the scholarship. The qualified student had to pay only one-fourth of the fees to get admission to the school. The eligible students had to attend an entrance examination to get admission to the school.

Davis's father always wanted to give Davis Lane the best education. So when he came to know about the entrance examination, he advised Davis Lane to take part in it. Although Davis Lane was not interested, he attended the examination for his father's sake and got selected for admission. His father was very happy to get the result, but his happiness did not last for a long time. When he saw a large number of admission fees, he felt frustrated. He never thought that the one-fourth admission fees would be that much.

He tried hard to collect money but failed. As the admission date came closer, he was getting more worried. At last, he sold his house, which was his only property, and deposited the fees. He knew that Davis Lane would be a more successful man if he could study in that famous school. He did not let Davis Lane know all these, as he knew that Davis Lane would never accept this. He somehow convinced the new owner of his house to let it rent to him.

Davis Lane came to know all these only after two years. That day he promised himself that he will make his father's dreams come true by becoming a successful man in the future. He started a part-time job in a restaurant and saved some money to help his father. But it was not that easy for him. Davis Lane had to stay late for work and only could return home late at night. The salary was also not that high, but as he received something good, he was satisfied with it.

Both father and son were trying their best to make their economical condition better. But nothing happened as they planned. Kairo's father fell ill suddenly. When they visited the doctor, he was detected with some chronic diseases. As per the doctor, it would need a huge amount of money for the treatment. Kairo spent almost all the money he saved for the treatment, but the condition of his father did not improve. He even could not go to the shop regularly.

Day by day, their condition worsened. They have to starve for days. Davis Lane decided to leave his studies and do some full-time job. But his father did not agree to it. How could he let his twelve years old son leave his studies and do his job? He convinced Davis Lane to continue with his studies. He hoped that their condition would be improved someday if Davis Lane continued with his studies.
