7. Horse and Fairy part 2

For the one who found her stranded in the wild, she swore she would follow her and serve her until the end of her life. The horse obviously didn't deserve this. Kay knew and so did Ignam. Being one with the spiritual beings, a fairy is one of the descendants of the gods themselves or it was believed. She flew up above the animal and circled around it. The dust that came off her wings formed a magic circle. It glowed and attracted the attention of Damien and Kay.

"Calm down, we've- look!" Damien pointed at the glowing horse.

"Ignam?" she elbowed him in the gut. Damien coughed from the surprise but he deserved it.

Ignam was forming a magical circle. Kay read something about this but could never picture it in her head. A calming wind started blowing and Ignam spiralled upwards more and in her hands formed an orb. She lifted it above her head it grew more and more until it was bigger than twice her size.

It was ready. She took a deep breath as she feared that it wouldn't work. She hasn't practised this in years and it served as a risk but, looking at Kay, she felt like it was worth a try. An unsuccessful attempt could cause permanent damage to body and soul and she wouldn't be able to reverse the effects.

'All or nothing,' she thought and released the orb towards the horse.

For a few seconds, the light was blinding that you weren't able to look at it and then it disappeared. Kay gasped, seeing the horse without any wounds.

Ignam tried to fly towards her but she suddenly collapsed and fell from the sky.

"Ignam!" she called and slid on her knees to catch her from hitting the ground. Damien went to the horse and brushed its skin.

"Wow, there isn't even a scratch on her. How did she do that?"

"I don't know. She never told me that she had those sort of capabilities."

Kay held Ignam as she got closer to the horse who was waking up. Damien went to the river and got some water in a bottle and filled up in a small bent tree crust. It accepted the water and thirst that the poor thing was experiencing. Eventually, with the help of Damien, the horse was back on its feet. It could finally move again.

"Well, now what?" Damien turned to Kay, who was still holding on to Ignam, "Do we let her roam free?"

"We can keep her around. There is room in the back of the stable."

"You think? What about the captain?"

"We'll explain when he gets back," she started walking back home.

"Yeah, better than leaving her out here,"

He brushed her head,

"We'll take you somewhere safe, don't worry..."

He explained while Kay was observing Ignam and her condition. She was exhausted and in a hypnotic coma. Hoping she would wake up after some rest, she quickened her pace back and opening the door, she encountered Nashiro.

"O-oh um, I was just getting some water..."

He tried to explain why he was in the kitchen.

"Don't stress about it," she said emotionless and left for the lift.

"Hey, Nashiro, can you give me a hand here?" Damien called from the door.

"Sure, what's it for?"

"We found a horse and I need you to help me get it in the stable."

"Alright," he went outside and saw the horse. It looked so familiar and when he got close, he recognised it. By the scar on its neck, it was Daisy. The horse that caused the commotion to allow him to leave the stable of that evil noble before he got found and killed.

"Daisy!" He called and the horse jumped for joy.

"Easy! You need to rest girl..." she calmed down after Damien said, "You know each other?"

"Not really," he rubbed his head, "I met her in her owner's backyard. She saved me from being found that morning by him when I spent a night there."

"Ah, I see..." Damien nodded, "That's why she was so beat up when I saw her."

"Yeah, her owner was scum. He whipped her without regard for her feelings and health."

He glanced at the scar on her neck. He touched it, running his fingers on it.

"I can see that. Some people just don't seem to know how to care for anyone else but themselves. No remorse at all, not even for the animals."

"I'm just glad to see her again," he admitted, "Oh, I have something for you..."

He checked his pocket and got an apple he received from the merchant that day. He received two but he only ate one and left the other for later. He probably didn't have the appetite after today.

Daisy opened its mouth and took the apple in one bite.

"Are you hungry?" He asked Damien.

"Nah, I'm alright. I still have to finish up here and do my choirs," he relocated some hay to Daisy's part of the stable, "If you are feeling hungry, get Kay to make you something. She is a good cook and she usually makes delicious meals."

"Sure, she won't mind?"

"No, she likes it. It's a hobby for her."

"Good luck with your choirs then," He waved as he left. What was weird to him was that there were no other horses in the stable. They must have all been taken by the other members.

Walking back to the tree, he found her in the kitchen making something. It was like she knew that they were talking about her and food. She glanced at him.

"Just in time," she grabbed the pot with the kitchen gloves and placed it on the table, "Where's Damien?"

"He has his choirs to finish. That's what he said to me," he sat down as he turned over his wooden bowl.

"He should have eaten something first. That idiot!" she mumbled the last part in an aggravated tone. She was all about order and taking up responsibility but she didn't want him to starve because of his laziness.

"I'll take a bowl to him." Nashiro volunteered.

"I should take it to him. You are our guest so no need to do my job."

"It's not a problem for me. I'll find him."

"Alright, if you say so," she loaded a bowl with mushroom stew and put a wooden spoon with it.

He took it off her hands and went back to the stable to see if he can catch him there. No luck! He was already gone. Daisy was fast asleep so he snuck out through the back and looked around for him.

"Yes sir, " Nashiro stopped as he heard a voice in the nearby trees, "Everything is going according to plan."

Nashiro walked over and saw him holding some type of communication orb. He couldn't tell who he was talking to.

"Damien?" Nashiro spoke and Damien turned it off and glared at him.

"Yes? What do you need?" he sternly answered.

"I brought food for you," he felt like he shouldn't have interrupted his call. It seemed important. Another thing was the orb just disappointed from his hand. How?

"Thank you, " he took the bowl from him, "Anything else?"

"No, just that," he smiled, "Sorry for interrupting you," he apologised.

"The captain called and asked about the situation. So it's nothing you should worry about."

"Well, I'll be going now" he turned around and left him.

'Very strange behaviour,' Nashiro thought, "He wasn't like that a few minutes ago.'

He went back inside and sat down to eat his part of the meal.
