First Mission

You and Asta met up with your squad mates for breakfast. Asta sat down next to Noelle and you sat next to Asta on his left. On the table were various meat dishes cooked by Charmy's magic sheep chefs. You both filled your plates and began digging into your food. Asta paused in the middle of eating and asked Noelle a question.

"Hey Noelle, how come you don't ever help out with the cleaning and stuff?" Asta asked Noelle as she ate. She finished her bite of food then answered him.

"The cleaning? I'm royalty you know." She said, using that royalty excuse again.

"And a new recruit!" Asta added.

"I've never done any cleaning or laundry in my life! Why would I start now?" Noelle said as you shook your head.

"Are you bragging about being lazy?! Come on, we're on the same squad here. Ever heard the term team effort?" Asta said to her loudly.

"I am royalty!" Noelle responded.

"Yeah and you won't let us forget it! Why can't you be more like Lil here? I forget she's royalty all the time and she doesn't care if I do! And she even helps with the cleaning and stuff!" Asta said, continuing the argument while pointing at you as you just kept on eating.

"Little insect." Noelle spouted.

"Oh we're back to that?" Asta responded. Then he turned to Magna across the table from him.

"Hey uh, just wondering. What exactly does a magic knight squad do?" He asked Magna who had just finished a bite from a drumstick.

"Huh?!" Magna said as he put down the drumstick and got up from the table and walked around to Asta's side of the table.

"Are you seriously serious right now?! We protect the country you idiot! We keep the people safe! It's the manliest job in the world! Why'd you even want to join up if you were so freakin' clueless, huh?!" Magna raised his voice at Asta as he grabbed him by the shirt collar. Magna started ranting as Asta began apologizing over and over again.

"Geez! Will someone tell him what a magic knight squad does?" Magna said as he let go of Asta and walked away back to his seat. Your squad mates took turns explaining all the benefits of the job of being a magic knight.

"Well runt? Are you starting to understand what being a magic knight is all about?!" Magna asked Asta who had his mouth full of meat that Charmy had stuffed into his mouth. Suddenly Captain Yami kicked down the door and called Magna to go with him on a mission. Asta wanted to go too, but Magna told him he couldn't.

"Listen gang, no breaking stuff while we're gone." Captain Yami said.

"'Kay! Have fun, bye!" Vanessa said as she drunkenly waved them goodbye. Then Captain Yami and Magna left the dining hall and headed out.

~Time Skip~

You, Asta and Noelle were downstairs tending to the beasts when Captain Yami and Magna returned laughing and wearing only their Black Bulls robes, nothing else. You and Asta just stared and Noelle blushed at the sight.

"Guess what? I've got some news you're gonna like. It's time for your first mission." Magna announced to the three of you. After Magna and Captain Yami got dressed, you, Asta and Noelle met up with them in the lounge area of the dining hall to discuss the mission.

"Go to Saussy Village for some boar hunting." Magna revealed what your first mission was. Noelle wasn't excited about it at all unlike you and Asta. The two of you were pretty psyched for it. Captain Yami explained it was a favor they owed the chief of Saussy Village for losing to him at poker. There was one question on the three of your guys' minds. Asta was the one to ask it for you all.

"Oh oh, can you explain what this has to do with us?" Asta asked loudly. Noelle then chimed in.

"Yes exactly! You were the ones who lost. It was none of our doing. So why-?"

"You idiots! Do you seriously expect Yami to clean up his own mess?" Magna interrupted Noelle.

"Yami doesn't deal with these things. That's what he's got us for." Magna further explained as you, Asta and Noelle started to understand what the deal was. Captain Yami stood up and breathed out the smoke from his cigarette.

"Either go or die. Your choice." Captain Yami as the three of you gulped nervously.

"We'll go!" You, Asta and Noelle said simultaneously, frantically nodding your heads. Captain Yami then left the room to go outside. You and Asta didn't care about what the mission was. You guys were just excited to be going on a mission.

"I still don't understand why you'd be sending me." Noelle said as Magna was starting to get sick of her complaining. And to be fair, you were too. You just didn't really say anything about it.

"Come on! Do you ever do anything but complain?" Magna asked Noelle who explained what she just said wasn't intended as a complaint. But the way she worded it could've suggested otherwise.

"It's just given that I can't control my magic power... should I really be going on a mission?" Noelle asked quietly as Magna loudly interrupted her self doubt.

"Dummy! That's the whole point! How do expect to get any better if you aren't even willing to try?" Magna made a good point, making Noelle realize something. Then Magna told you guys he would be accompanying you guys on the mission. Asta was thankful that Magna was going with. Noelle on the other hand had a bit of a different perspective on the matter.

"Well I suppose if you insist, I'd be willing to accompany you." She said with a stuck up tone.

"Really? Thank you- hey wait a minute! How come you're always looking down on us huh?!" Magna said to Noelle.

"It's not like I choose to look down on you. You just happen to be below me so what else can I do? And besides I don't look down on all of you. Just you and Asta." Noelle said with a condescending tone.

"What kind of logic is that?!" Magna responded to Noelle.

"Well Lily is royalty too so she's on my level." Noelle explained herself.

"That's not what I meant!" Manga said as you giggled a little at how ridiculous the whole conversation was.

"I appreciate you thinking of me as your equal, but please try to treat Asta and Magna nicely too. It doesn't matter what social class we all belong to. We're squad mates." You said to Noelle.

"Exactly! What Lil said!" Asta said loudly.

"Yeah! You tell her Lily!" Manga said just as loud as Asta. After things had calmed down, the four of you went to go find Finral to ask him to make a portal to Saussy Village for you guys. But Finral explained he couldn't portal you guys over there because he hadn't been there before. Magna was frustrated that now they had to travel by broom. The problem is that you, Asta and Noelle couldn't fly a broom. Noelle couldn't control her magic power and you and Asta didn't have any magic at all. Magna was frustrated yet again.

"Fine... we'll just have to ride together. Are you ready to meet my baby?" Manga said, a smile appearing on his face.

"Your baby?" You, Asta and Noelle asked in unison. Then Magna brought you guys outside and showed off his custom broom which he called Crazy Cyclone. Asta thought is was awesome, Noelle thought it was lame, and you thought it would look better if a couple changes were made to it. Magna was offended with the way Noelle worded her opinion of his ride. The four of you mounted Crazy Cyclone. Magna was at the front, you were behind him and Noelle was between you and Asta. At first Magna was having trouble with getting the broom to go. You stood up slightly trying to see over Magna's shoulder to see what was wrong. Asta was cheering even though you guys haven't even lifted off yet. Noelle doubted Magna's ability to fly all of you guys. Just then, the broom roared to life and sped off. Right before you guys crashed into the treeline, the broom shot up in the air and you guys were off! You were on your way to your first mission.
