"Do you think Amber will approve of this?" Bella whispered to Daniel, who blinked his eyes.
"She has to. She loves him. This is the right thing to do. Xavier suggested this whole thing." Daniel replied.
"Xavier is such a good guy." Mrs. Darlington replied.
"He says, he realized at the last minute, that he will only be ruining his life and Amber’s life if he gets married to her and he has found someone he thinks he is in love with... I always knew Amber was not happy with this marriage, but she didn’t want to say it, because she doesn’t want to disappoint us." Daniel said. Bella sighed and looked downwards.
"I think this is all my fault. I scolded her for having an affair with Mason." Bella said, with her eyebrows lowered and pulled together.
"It’s never too late to correct your mistake; that’s one of the things I learnt from Xavier; now shut up; let’s enjoy the wedding." Daniel said with a smile as Mason climbed the altar. Daniel smiled at the priest, who returned the smile.
"M…Ma…Mason, you are here." Amber stuttered with her lips trembling.
"Yes, my love, do you think you are going to get rid of me so easily?" He asked with a dashing smile that exposed his beautiful set of teeth.
"But where is Xavier?" she inquired. He moved closer to her and put his hand around her shoulder, pointing at a row in the crowd where Xavier was making out with Diana. All the crowd turned to look at them. Amber gasped.
"What’s this? Someone should stop them. They are stealing the thunder." Amber said with a frown.
"Are you jealous?" Mason teased.
"Of course not, I am happy for him." she said, smiling effortlessly, as Xavier pulled away from the kiss and put his hand around Diana’s shoulder, with her partner, looking at them with jealous eyes with his hand folded across his chest.
"Now back to us," Mason said, and let go of her.
"Let’s start with the wedding vows," the priest said.
"I will go first." Mason said, and Daniel tossed him a card, he caught it. He went out of his way to arrive at the wedding. Xavier was the one that begged him to come back and arranged for him to be brought back to the city in time while he bought time by pretending to be Amber’s groom.
Mason had told his parents that he was going to get married to Amber. His mother was angry, but his father was the only one that followed him to attend his wedding. Mason smiled as his eyes traveled to his father, who was holding an iPad in front of him. His mother’s face was on the screen; she was watching the wedding.
"Stubborn woman," he said under his breath, and opened the brief wedding vow he had written in a hurry.
"When you walked into my life, love walked in. It was a magical moment that I will treasure forever with you. I will walk together with you and with love." He squeezed the card and looked at her face through the veil.
"They say that love is a many-splendored thing, constantly changing and evolving. My love for you will be ever-changing like a chimaera and ever growing like a verdant valley. I don’t care if your skin is darker than mine, the colour of our skin doesn’t define us," he said and touched his chest.
"It’s what’s in here that matters," he said with a smile. Her heart melted hearing his vow. Her vow wasn’t as good as his, but she wanted to say something to him and make him feel relieved that he had married the right woman.
A romantic song started playing in the background; it was "All of Me." by John Legend. It created a romantic atmosphere. Amber blinked the little tears in her eyes. She was blushing uncontrollably under the veil.
Everyone was waiting for her to say her vow, but she was suddenly shy. She pursed her lips. Mason was overwhelmed with joy. Daniel started clapping his hands, and everybody joined in, boosting her confidence.
"To be honest, the first day I met you, I wasn’t a fan of you. I hated you. I never thought that I would fall in love with someone like you. The day I fell in love with you, I realized that you do not find true love but love finds you." she beamed, smiling widely at him as if he could see her face. He couldn’t wait any longer. He wanted her in his arms.
She took a deep breath and saw the last line of her wedding vow. "I promise to walk with you, hand in hand through life, as your biggest fan, your shoulder to lean on, and your best friend," she beamed.
"Mason Arthur, do you take Amber Darlington for your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" the priest asked.
"I do," Mason said flatly. Then, the priest asked Amber the same question.
"I..." she paused. She wanted to make Mason a little nervous, and her plan was working. His heart skipped a beat waiting for her reply.
"I…I do," she replied. Before the priest could ask him to kiss the bride, he pulled her closer to him by the waist and removed her veil.
"Wow, the groom is feisty," Bella remarked.
Amber stared into Mason’s eyes. His beautiful eyes were sucking her in. She felt a spark of electricity all over her body. His eyes were lingering on her lips. He leaned in, bending her with his hand, supporting her waist. He landed his lips on hers. This kiss was much more intense and filled with passion. Their lips locked while their tongues danced with each other in fervent need.
"Whooo!!" all the guests yelled, and got up from their seats. Bella smiled, filming the whole moment on her phone as the photographer took photos of them. They were both locked in a warm embrace. Mason wasn’t ready to let go of her. He had waited for this day his whole life. Xavier held tightly to Diana’s hand with a smile. Daniel was the happiest person in the room because his sister was happy.
The priest had to break the kiss. Mason’s lips were covered with lipstick marks, and the crowd couldn’t help but laugh. She moved closer to him and wiped her lipstick off his lip with her delicate hand.
They both signed their marriage certificates as everyone started congratulating them, including Nate, who came forward and dropped his gift for the couple close to the altar. Amber was still waiting for him to go to her. She was holding tightly to Mason’s hand as they talked to their family and friends, who wanted to take pictures of them.
"Congratulations." Elsa beamed, staring at Mason, who blinked his eyes.
"Thank you, Elsa, it’s good to see you," he said. Amber elbowed him, still clinging to him.
"Congratulations, Amber," Nate said, as he walked over to them with a girl by his side. They both looked like a couple.
"Thank you," Amber said, smiling genuinely.
"I am sorry for giving you a hard time in college. You win in the end. You have Mason all to yourself. It’s not like I am jealous. This is my girlfriend, Chloe," he said.
"Girlfriend?" Amber and Mason chorused stunned.
"Yes, girlfriend, my family doesn’t want me to be gay anymore, so I got myself a girlfriend." he beamed. Amber’s smile faded.
"Never let your family influence your decisions; do what makes you happy," she advised.
"Thank you, Amber. You are still a good friend to me, and you will always be in my heart," he said.
"What are you people doing standing around?" Bella inquired.
"Come on, let’s take a picture together, people!" Bella yelled as she grasped Lily and Eric’s hands and hauled them to stand with Amber and Mason as two photographers started taking pictures of them. They were all glowing with excitement and smiling continuously.
Everyone escorted Amber and Mason out of the venue. They didn’t want to attend their after-party because they were both exhausted and wanted to go home. Amber walked away from the crowd a little and tossed her bouquet in the air. Bella ran to catch the flower, and it landed in Lily’s hand. Lily opened her eyes wide in surprise as she held the flower.
Amber and Mason wanted to enter their wedding car, that has "Just married." written at the back but her wedding dress was too big and there wasn’t a place to change her dress. Elsa stepped forward and grabbed one part of Amber’s dress on her waist and drew out the ball part of her dress, leaving a straight short dress on Amber.
"Wow, what did you do to my wedding dress?" Amber asked, turning around as Mason checked her out, she looked sexy and seductive in the dress.
"I just give you a little makeover so you can get into the car." Elsa said.
"You are going to give me back my dress." Amber said as Mason pulled her into the car.
"You talk too much." He whined and shut the door. She gave him a light kiss on the lips, and cuddled him in the car as the driver drove off to their family members, waving them goodbye.
"Where are we going?" she asked, confused.
"You will see, our new house is amazing." he beamed.
