"Dreadful!"
"Genuinely terrifying."
Mine quivered in the newly established base during the nocturnal assault, fear palpable in her voice.
Even animosity paled in comparison to fear.
"Are our endeavors truly effective against such a foe?"
"Why not showcase the empire's situation her directly?"
"Didn't you mention Esdeath is kind toward her soldiers and the Empire's civilians, despite her cruelty towards foes and foreign tribes?"
"Make her comprehend the populace's suffering, and perhaps she'll forsake the Empire?"
The onlookers regarded Mine with disbelief, then fell into silence.
They hadn't anticipated Mine letting go of her resentment.
Yet given Esdeath' formidable display in the footage, their apprehension seemed justified.
"Seems nearly impossible."
After prolonged contemplation, Najenda opined, "Esdeath will not become anyone's pawn or instrument."
"No, if what is shown on the screen is true, then the man who just defeated her offers hope."
"To my understanding, Esdeath only pledges allegiance to the Empire."
"So long as the empire endures, ministers come and go, and emperors ascend and fall, she remains indifferent."
"The rebellion aims to dismantle the empire and rebuild it. She'll never join."
Najenda's tone was resolute.
Upon hearing this, a heavy silence fell over the group.
The enemy's might was formidable, and their convictions seemed absurd to many.
"Don't lose heart just yet. We don't know if the information in that screen is genuine," Najenda reassured them. "I'll return to the Revolutionary Army base to discuss this and put Esdeath to the test. If everything shown on the screen holds true, we might need to reconsider our stance."
Najenda understood that some within the rebellion were driven by personal ambition. Without tangible benefits, how many would truly fight for ideals alone?
The fall of the old aristocracy would only give rise to a new one. Her reason for joining was simply to pave a clearer path for the empire's reconstruction, ensuring a better life for its citizens.
If Esdeath truly possessed such power, combined with the enigmatic figure lurking in the shadows, the rebellion would be doomed. Even the opportunists would retreat. She'd have to revise her ideals accordingly.
"Yes, BOSS!" The members concurred.
Meanwhile, Esdeath and Ran engaged in dialogue after Ran had successfully defeated Esdeath.
"You truly have no interest in acquiring any of my abilities?" Ran queried unexpectedly.
"No, I prefer to rely on my own efforts to grow stronger," Esdeath replied earnestly, admiration shining in his eyes.
It was an unprecedented sentiment.
"Acquiring some of my power wouldn't hinder your personal growth," Ran reasoned. "After all, isn't the Teigu you wield an external force?"
"It's different," Esdeath retorted stubbornly. "I refrain from becoming a Teigu user because those are merely tools. The Demon's Extract I wield has become a part of me, and my strength stems from my own training."
"I see where your priorities lie," Ran acknowledged, pondering for a moment. "Then, perhaps I can offer you a Chakra seed, along with the Ice Release Bloodline Limit and the cultivation method. These will expand your potential without providing an immediate boost in strength. What do you think?"
Esdeath' eyes sparkled with excitement.
She hesitated, though she found herself inclined to agree.
"I suppose agreeing to this wouldn't hurt," she murmured, her uncertainty palpable.
"I mean, isn't me visiting your world occasionally a kind of reward?" Esdeath asked, her tone tinged with nervousness.
How could she resist the allure of falling in love with a man who surpassed all her expectations? Yet, she couldn't ignore the reality of her situation. But still giving up was not her style.
"I'd love to help, but I'm afraid it's beyond my capabilities to promise such a thing," Ran admitted with a hint of resignation.
His current strength was nowhere near sufficient to traverse between worlds.
"That's a shame. But what about the Golden List?" Esdeath suddenly suggested.
"The Gold List?" Ran was taken aback.
Indeed, if Ran couldn't manage it himself, perhaps the Gold List, capable of communicating with other worlds and their gates, held the solution.
"Golden List, is there any way for me to visit the world of the Akame ga Kill?" Ran inquired, addressing the light curtain.
The peculiar nature of his request made it clear what he meant.
A series of messages appeared on the light curtain:
1. The inheritor desires for the inheritor to visit their world.
2. Persuade the inheritor to relinquish the inheritance reward.
3. Fulfill the Gold List's delegation task under the conditions of the first two.
Note: Upon fulfilling the second condition, you will temporarily possess the World Gate to the other side's world for one year. Complete the task within that year, and you will permanently gain ownership of the World Gate.
Ran was left speechless.
Who would have thought it could be this simple?
