A life that cannot contact you

As soon as I returned to reality, I held my katana and stood guard, protecting the twins.

"It's futile. You are too weak."

The crier spoke, which echoed all around me.

"Face me, you fool," I said while turning around to look for the crier.

"Nova, why do you have a Katana?" Aaron asked me while I searched for a crier.

'I'm not surprised he can see me,' I thought to myself as I felt a little bit of pressure coming from under a bridge that was over a few metres from where we stood.

"I'll explain later." I respond to Aaron and charge towards the bridge.

'Where is it?' I thought to myself as my vision blurred and I stood behind the railing of the bridge.

"What the hell is going on? This is all so confusing," Annie screamed at Aaron and me.

I didn't pay much attention and started to sense more of the pressure.

"See, it's futile." The crier spoke again. The voice was loud and terrifying.

It was behind the twins. It looked and sounded hideous as well.

'Shit, it's behind them. I got to protect them' I thought to myself as I saw the crier attack the twins.

"Aaron, run!!' I screamed at him, only to realise it was too late. Aaron flew across the street. He was badly hurt.

As I saw the crier attack Aaron, I was consumed by anger. My vision blurred instantly, and I was in front of Annie.

I pulled her towards me and swung my blade towards the crier. The crier dodged the blade and sprung behind.

"Annie, go aid Aaron," I told Annie, only to realise she was in a state of shock seeing her brother fly across the street.

'Fuck'

I held Annie and charged towards Aaron.

"Aaron, are you ok?" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just go take care of that thing," he replied, sitting up.

'I'm sorry, Annie, I thought to myself as I knocked her out by hitting the back of her neck.

"Look after her," I said, and I took a defensive stance.

'Shit, it disappeared again'

I released my soul emanation and expected something to happen, but it was of no use.

"Nova was it". "Thank you for bringing the book to me. Now I just have to retrieve them."

The crier spoke. A huge pressure bore across the area. I truly felt overwhelmed for a moment.

My legs were about to give up, but then the pressure suddenly stopped.

"Akhhh"

A voice came from behind the ad again.

"What did you do?"

The voice of the crier once again came from behind the ad sign.

I instantly moved towards the ad sign and swung against it, but to no avail. I missed the crier.

"Why do you have so much pure soul emanation? It's distorting my brain."

The crier spoke again. It came from above.

The crier was standing on top of the light pole.

'Looks like me realising my soul emanation was useful' I thought to myself as I sprung upwards towards the crier.

As soon as I opened my eyes again, I was in front of the crier.

Swoosh—

A fist came flying towards my chest. I dodged the punch and slashed at the crier's hand. My blade hit the hand, only to bounce back.

I fell back down and looked up to see nothing up there.

"Naive," a voice came from my back, but I was fast enough to turn and fend off the attack.

He sent a barrage of fists towards my head and chest. I tried to block as much as I could and jumped back.

I got into an attack stance and pressed my foot against the ground. My vision became hazy as I was behind the crier.

As I was charging against the crier, it seemed like time had stopped for a moment. I saw a clear opening and slashed my blade towards the crier's stomach.

Spurt—

Blood gushed out of the crier's stomach.

'Did I get him?' I turned around, only to see a fist flying towards my face.

The crier recovered in seconds and instantly attacked me. I was fast enough to see the fist coming towards my face. I used my katana, parried the attack, and launched my knee towards his abdominal area.

The crier blocked my knee, held my leg, and threw me into the air.

'Shi-' Before I could complete my thought, I felt a palm press against my chest. My chest caved inward as I flew towards the ground.

"Akhhh." I coughed out blood from the impact.

"Your no challenge to me." The crier spoke and walked towards me.

"I can't say the same about your soul emanation, though. It's a shame that Synthex is losing a guard with such potential. I feel bad for them, honestly." The crier was blabbering while I took my time to recover as much as I could.

"It's a shame that you think I'm weak," I replied to the crier with a grin on my face.

"You talk too much for a person who's going to die soon," the crier replied in an instant.

"Your face looks pathetic, just like those I murdered while I was a human." The crier spoke again.

"I could give a damn about the face I'm making right now. All I can think of right now is fucking annihilating you from the face of the planet," I replied as I stood up, having recovered as much as I could.

"You murdered a lot of people, huh? I avenge them myself. No matter how many times you get up, I'll kill you again and again until time runs out," I exclaimed as I charged at the crier.

"hahahahahaha"

The crier laughed at my words and put his palm against his face.

But I didn't care about fairness anymore. I swung at his neck and hoped my blade would connect with his neck.

I put all my strength on the swing, and the blade cut through his forearm, which was covering his neck, and sliced through his neck.

Spurt—

Blood was spurting everywhere. I turned around to make sure I had sliced through the crier's neck.

"You realise that I'm faster and stronger than you, right?"

The crier spoke.

"What, How? I thought I got you," I replied to the crier with utter shock on my face.

"You did get me. But only my arms." He spoke and suddenly disappeared from where he stood.

He threw his fist at me out of nowhere. Fortunately, I saw him punching me, so I used my blade and swung at him too.

Cling—

My blade hit his forearm, and I couldn't cut it or scrape it. He held my blade with his other arm and threw his leg at my stomach.

My stomach caved in as I struggled to breathe as I flew back and hit a wall. I vomited blood from my mouth as I got ready to stand up again.

"I feel sorry for you in all honesty," the crier replied.

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and channelled my soul emanation into my blade.

I opened my eyes and sprung at the crier.

'I name my attacks, right?' I thought to myself and slashed at the crier.

"Crimson blaze!" I exclaimed as I was swinging at the crier. A crimson-coloured beam flew through the air. The air around the beam tore apart. The attack broke the sound barrier.

"Is that all you've got?" The crier spoke as he cut my attack in half.

But it was futile, as the attack caused a huge explosion on impact with anything. The crier was enveloped by fire from my attack. The explosion calmed down after a bit, and all the smoke spread into the atmosphere.

I saw a figure standing as if nothing had happened to it.

As all the smoke cleared away, The complexion of the crier had completely changed.

"Not bad at all. Now you've made me fight more seriously."

The crier spoke with a low, grumpy voice.

I wasn't too worried, as I know my soul emanation is pure enough to stun the critic for a few seconds.

"Think again," I said, which made the crier angry.

I got ready for my soul emanation to enter his body and destroy his mind.

"You know how to make someone mad, don't you? Oh well, it's over."

The crier was speaking as my attack started to affect his organs.

"Ahhhhhhh.." The crier cried in pain as my vision became blurry, and I was in front of him.

'I have to get it this time' I thought to myself as I once again tried to cut his neck.

My blade came into contact with his neck, and I poured all my strength into it and cut his neck out this time.

"You speak too much, Crier," I replied to his words.

Spurt—

Blood was spurting all over the place as I cut his neck. It wasn't over yet; I had to get his heart.

"Impressive" A voice came from behind me.

It was a random person.

"He will recover soon if you don't finish him off now." The person spoke again and disappeared. I didn't even see him move.

*cough* *cough*

I heard the crier cough twice as he was slowly recovering.

"Why were you that fast? I expected something to happen from the attack you sent at me, so I was prepared. But when did you get so much stronger and  faster?"The crier cried in a low voice.

'Shit, he's recovering pretty fast' I thought to myself, and I charged towards his body.

"Jota." The crier spoke out of nowhere.

"Huh? What's Jota?" I replied as I stopped moving towards me.

"It's my name," he exclaimed to me as he struggled to speak. I felt like something was up, like he was trying to bait me so I would get closer to him.

But I didn't fall for it. I slowly started to walk towards him.

"I'm out of energy. I can't regenerate fast enough right now. I'm not a threat," Jota said, but I didn't fall for it.

I got close to his body. As soon as I was going to stab his heart, his decapitated head disappeared into thin air. A new head slowly grew from the body.

'Shit, I'm too late,' I thought to myself as I sprung backwards.

He had regenerated fully and had a grin on his face.

"You stall too much. This flaw of yours now costs your life," he spoke as he charged towards me. But it was of no use, as my soul emanation had corrupted his organs.

He moved very slowly.

"Your flaw is that you think you win every time you think you have an upper hand."

I replied to his words.

I took one step and reappeared in front of him. I used my palm to hit I'm towards the sky.

"Akhh." He vomited blood as he flew towards the sky.

I crouched down a little, sprung into the air, and used my blade to stab his heart.

Stab—

I stabbed him, but I missed the stab. I used my knee and hit him to the ground.

His face smashed first into the ground, creating a small crater around him.

I landed beside him, held his head, and smashed it multiple times against the ground.

I truly had lost my mind as I repeatedly smashed his head against the ground. The scene was truly disgusting.

Jota's face had been compressed from all directions. He looked worse than he did before.

"Stop Nova," I heard Aaron's voice.

I calmed down a bit after hearing him. I let go of Jota's head and jumped out of the crater.

"Get out of here. I'll explain everything after I'm finished," I replied to Aaron as I took my blade out of my scabbard again.

"GO! Get out of here!" I exclaimed at Aaron as I saw him slowly run away.

I poured all my soul emanation into my blade and got into an attack stance. I tried to recreate what Rowan had used against Konan.

My katana glowed in purple and was overflowing with soul emanation.

"Soul sever"

The area around me and Jota was completely enveloped by a purple light.

I slashed at Jota, and a purple beam of soul emanation flew towards his back.

Boom—
