The sun had started to glow. I noticed it in bed when it tried to tease me in sleep, sending a streak of light through the window and the curtain, right on my eyes. It was Sunday morning, and I found myself at Mia's house usually.
After studying late at night, it was quite an early morning for me, and then I realized Mia had risen earlier than me. I freshened up and reached down to the kitchen, where Mia was going to prepare the food.
I quickly took the pan from her and the eggs, saying, "Let me do it as always, Why bother?"
"You don't ever let me cook, John. Am I that bad a cook?"
"No….No….You're not, um, maybe a little, but never mind. Take your seat, I'll serve soon."
Mia made a puffed face and crossed her hands, though in anger she looked cute. I called her nearby. She came near with eyes expecting high.
I touched her head and said, "Maybe next time."
"You always say that." And saying this, she sat on the chair by the table.
This is Mia, my puffed-face girl. A friend who understood me from a young age. A cute girl, the same age as me, with a nice face cut with a pair of specs, made her most beautiful in the whole college, but after Christie came in, things have become complicated. We sat at the table and breakfast was in front of us. She was going to take a bite when I said, "Today, Christie would be coming to my place….to study definitely….to study only."
There she looked at me sharply leaving me speechless, and got up, going straight for her room. I got hurriedly up and ran after her. I tripped and all that happens after tripping happened to me.
I knew Mia was a little troubled as not many times do you suddenly feel you're not being noticed as you were before someone came in.
I knocked door several times saying, "Come on Mia, she's a new admission and ma'am asked me to help her out. You're still my bestie!"
"You lie as you always do!", She exclaimed.
"I ain't and I haven't, on a matter like this. I promise I won't do anything as you think I would….I promise."
And the door opened a little and a hand came out with a sentence, "Promise?"
"Promise", I said holding her hand
Then the door opened fully and she clutched me.
"That's my girl", I said "Now go fast and eat up the breakfast or I'm off this time!"
As she finished with her breakfast, I left for my home and waited until Christie came.
