To say that my stay at the X mansion was short would be an understatement as I needed to convey that I didn't trust Charles in the slightest. Of course I made sure to promise to keep in contact with a few of them such as Ororo, Jean and James (Wolverine). Scott wanted nothing to do with me after I created a rift with Charles and the others he especially didn't like when Jean decided to remain friends with me.

While flying I got a call from Fury telling me to head to Manhattan as problem popped up and I was the only one close enough to get there in time. Apparently, Gorilla Grod had unleashed a horde of apes attacking the city while he raided a laboratory housing a virus. The virus rendered humans stupid causing severe regression in intelligence leaving a person little more than an animal.

Arriving on the scene I wasted no time dealing with the apes that tried to attack I pulled out my plasma rifle and slaughtered any that stood in my way. I had no desire for the human race to become nothing more than animals not because of some noble ideas but because I haven't seen a return on my investment into this species. I spent a lot of time on various missions when I could have abandoned the Earth and set up shop somewhere else and built a name in space. Seeing the potential pain in my ass holding a test tube while smiling I knew that he had found what he was looking for.

Gorilla Grod: Your too late hero I now have everything I need to put humanity in its place and allow Apes to take their rightful place as the sovereigns of the earth

I could have tried to handle this diplomatically I could have tried to appeal to the better part of himself but honestly keeping him alive was more of a liability to me. So instead of debating with him on right and wrong I just aimed my plasma rifle and shot the hand holding the virus. Both his hand and the Virus were destroyed along with part of his arm. It was all completely burned away by the super-heated green plasma nothing remained. Gorilla Grod was in a state of complete shock unable to process the fact that I destroyed not only the virus but part of his right arm.

Gorilla Grod: Wh... what did you do? My... my arm where is the rest of my arm?!

"I destroyed the virus along with part of your arm in the process. You are currently in a state of shock which is why you're having a hard time accepting what occurred"

I would have liked to just end him right now and be done with it unfortunately friendly neighborhood spiders arrived on the scene along with the flash. Instead, I was forced to wait for the authorities to arrive on the scene while suppressing Gorilla Grod's psychic powers with my mind. Spider-Gwen was looking around at all the animal corpses while the other spiders were webbing up the rest of the apes that weren't dead. Flash seemed to be completely horrified but kept under control.

Flash: What the hell happened here?!

"Gorilla Grod was about to release a virus that would render humans with only animal-level intellect. I cut down all the apes in my way that he unleashed before destroying the virus along with his hand that was holding it"

Flash: You could have just stalled him, you could have incapacitated the apes why did you do this?!

"Because I prioritized the safety of humanity and refused to jeopardize it by holding back. Had I done as you proposed and he got away then the whole of humanity would have been at risk"

Flash: There was another way there is always another way!!

"At what cost? If you pull your punches and someone ends up dead or maimed will you be the one to look their families in the eye and explain how you allowed this to happen? No, you wouldn't in fact after the bad guy was defeated you bathe in the adulation of the people or disappear. It's nice to have a code of ethics I find it to be very noble but ideals and reality aren't always in line with each other. So when I have to choose I will always do what I believe is necessary"
