Between Illusions He Rises

The master of illusions, was an inspiration to many other young and aspiring illusionists.

He loved being an illusionist, and he had been doing it since he was ten years old; he even trained in martial arts to be able to execute knife tricks and handle other melee weapons.

Even at the age of 40, his physique maintained an excellent condition.

But he was never able to find the love of his life, and he thought that a meaningful relationship was out of reach for someone like him.

When he was on his way back after what he thought would be his final tour, numerous lightning bolts pounded the earth around him as he stared out the window.

The lightning was especially strong; he was traveling across a side-mountain bridge when one lightning struck it, causing the structure to collapse.

A young man in full metal armor sat seemingly unconscious inside a carriage. When he abruptly stood up, gazing straight ahead with a shocked expression, breathing quickly, his hands trembling.

He gazed forward, then at his hands, in astonishment he could not think much other than, 'what is happening?'

"Is your highness alright?"

'Your highness?'

He looked to his left side to face the powerful voice and saw an armored old man riding what he believed was a horse.

"Where is this place?"

"Huh? It's a road at the Scarvons Woods, your highness."

'Scarvons Woods? Why is this name… so familiar?'

"Please sit-down your highness. Soon this road is going to be bumpy."

He sat on the carriage seat and removed the metal helmet that obstructed his vision.

'Did I… just get transported to another world?'

He was about to rest his head in his hands; when he noticed a necklace wrapped around his left hand, He noticed it was a locket and the picture of a middle-aged woman was inside of it. As he stared at the picture, the old knight said.

"Missing them?"

'Missing who?'

He had no idea who that person was.

"I..."

A slight ache in his head made him dizzy, and a few memories emerged. He was now Raiden, the youngest son of King Warthron.

'I wasn't wrong... It really is another world..."

He still did not remember much about Raiden, but the missing emotion was undeniable.

"I do."

"At least, you're going back now."

"Yeah..."

'King Warthron? wasn't he in that novel? I remember, the Warthron's were destroyed in the novel...'

The King Warthron, one of the several royals of Ackerleigh's collapsed Empire. The Warthron's appeared only briefly in the novel he read as a youth and then vanished.

He was puzzled and his heart was pounding.

Despite the fact that he did not recall much about the novel, he remembered one section in particular: the ending, which was the only part that everyone who read the novel [The Bartham's False Hero] remembered clearly.

In the novel there was a war between the original species of that planet which was Elves, Dwarfs, Giants, Humans and other intelligent species against some creatures that suddenly appeared on the continent.

They did not seem to have any chain of command at first, and were just attacking by instinct. But that was not the truth, not only did they have a chain of command, but all the attacks from the beginning were planned. The result was obvious, they won.

'Who or what brought me to this location? Had to be this one, of all the books I read?'

"Your highness? …"

He was resting his head on his right palm, trying to recall the circumstances surrounding King Warthron's demise. After all, being a king's descendent would have an impact on him.

"Your highness? …"

The voice constantly calling him was already irritating him.

'Who doesn't answer after calling so many times… Wait, your highness?! oh...'

He closed his eyes briefly and then looked at the knight; who was calling him.

"What?"

"I wanted to suggest that we stop here to rest…"

He inhaled deeply as he gazed at the horizon that had emerged in front of him; previously, he had been surrounded by trees, but now an opening revealed a vast open field.

He paused for a few seconds to breathe and enjoy the sight; the planet he came from was polluted, and natural sights like the one in front of him were rare.

"Of course."

After listening; the old knight speeds up towards the horsemen in front of him, signaling a halt.
