Lin Moyu had finally understood everything. His skeleton army's greatest weakness lay in him. If a powerful enemy bypassed the skeletons and focused solely on him, the battle could become perilous. Damage transfer wasn't an invincible shield. Now that he recognized this vulnerability, he knew he had to find ways to mitigate it.
As the Goblin King's body was torn apart, blood rained down like droplets in a storm. Towering at six or seven meters tall, its shoulders, chest, back, and head were crawling with skeleton warriors, relentlessly attacking. Suddenly, a blinding light burst from the Goblin King's body as it leaped into the air and crashed down, sending all the skeleton warriors flying. Even those on the ground were knocked back by the shockwave.
"Skill: Shock Back!" Lin Moyu noted.
The Goblin King's eyes glowed ominously as it opened its mouth, spewing flames that engulfed the skeleton warriors. Lin Moyu could feel the life force of four of his warriors fading rapidly. They were on the verge of death. With a quick thought, he recalled the four skeletons back into the summoning space, sparing them from their imminent demise.
The Goblin King continued its fiery assault, preventing the skeletons from approaching. Lin Moyu knew he had to act swiftly. "I need to interrupt its skills."
With a flick of his wrist, a flame appeared in Lin Moyu's palm—Soul Flame. The fire silently landed on the Goblin King's head. Immediately, the giant monster let out a horrific scream, its flame attack cut off. Soul Flame ignored physical defenses, dealing spiritual damage directly. Even with Lin Moyu's modest 400 spiritual points and a level 11 skill, the 20-fold increase in power made the attack devastating.
The skeleton warriors, seeing the Goblin King vulnerable, closed in again, attacking with renewed fury. Meanwhile, Lin Moyu continued unleashing Soul Flame, ensuring the Goblin King couldn't unleash its skills.
After a minute of relentless assault, the Goblin King collapsed, defeated.
[Kill the King of Goblins, experience +40000]
[Obtain bronze-level weapon: Goblin King's Dagger]
[Obtain bronze-level armor: Robe of Knowledge]
[Obtain Goblin King's crystal nucleus]
As the notifications rolled in, Lin Moyu's body glowed with the light of a level-up. He had finally reached level 12. In just over an hour, he had gained more than a full level, far exceeding his expectations.
He examined his loot.
[Goblin King's Dagger: Bronze-level, Strength +10, Dexterity +10, Assassin skills increase by 3%, usable at level 12]
[Robe of Knowledge: Bronze-level armor, Spirit +10, Constitution +10, reduces cooldown of mage skills by 5%, usable at level 12]
The dagger wasn't much use to him, so he stowed it away, intending to sell it later. "I'm a necromancer, part of the mage class, after all," he mused. "But my skills don't have cooldowns, so that part of the robe is pointless. Still, the added spirit and constitution are useful."
Lin Moyu immediately donned the Robe of Knowledge, feeling the slight boost in his spirit and constitution.
Then there was the Goblin King's crystal nucleus. Larger and more radiant than those of lower-level monsters, it glowed a deep ruby red, radiating warmth. It was clearly something special. This crystal nucleus could fetch 100,000 gold coins on the market—a pleasant surprise, as it was worth far more than the two pieces of equipment combined.
With his mental power fully restored from leveling up, Lin Moyu summoned four more skeleton warriors. His skill had leveled up to 12, requiring 110 points of spiritual power per summon, but with 510 spiritual points now, he could still only summon four at a time. The skeleton warriors, now at level 12, boasted an impressive 3800 points in all four attributes, and their number had grown to 60.
In this dungeon, Lin Moyu was unstoppable.
Feeling satisfied, he made his way to the dungeon exit.
The moment he appeared at the entrance, all eyes turned toward him. His presence, and the eerie skeleton warriors accompanying him, drew immediate attention. Their cold, menacing appearance caused the timid onlookers to avert their gaze, unwilling to stare for too long.
"He's out!" someone exclaimed.
"Did he really clear the dungeon by himself?"
"There are only a handful of people who can solo a dungeon. This kid must be a novice..."
"Wait, look at his robe. Isn't that the Robe of Knowledge?"
"Yeah, it is! Unbelievable! That's the robe from the dungeon boss!"
"The guy who soloed the dungeon is standing right in front of us!"
Lin Moyu ignored the chatter around him. The dungeon was on cooldown for 12 hours, so there was no point hunting wild monsters in the meantime. The experience gained from killing those creatures wasn't worth it. More than 10 wild kills wouldn't equal one dungeon kill.
Twelve hours was perfect—enough time for meditation to restore his spiritual strength and reflect on his progress.
He found a quiet spot away from the crowd and sat down, one of his skeleton warriors standing vigil beside him.
This dungeon run had been more significant than others. It had taught him critical lessons: he now knew his own weaknesses and how to overcome them. He also understood the potential of his skills better.
Corpse Burst was an unparalleled offensive ability when used correctly, and Soul Flame was a powerful skill that could interrupt enemy attacks and deliver devastating spiritual damage. Even a nightmare-level boss couldn't withstand it for long.
As Lin Moyu sat, he quietly reflected on the battle, meticulously reviewing his strategies and refining his approach for the next dungeon.
