Habitat

Kusana felt oddly at peace inside the forest. He breathed in the fresh air being made by the trees and various plants nearby. Even if he was locked up, he felt very free in this space. Kusana decided to take a run out into the wild.

After running around for thirty or so minutes, Kusana reached the other edge of the facility. The facility had curved walls so Kusana speculated it was shaped like a circle. So, Kusana went around the perimeter of the forest.

Kusana hadn't been given this much freedom in- He was about to say six months, but his old job had been extremely restricting. Even being a slave(specifically for Kamino, but not because he was a simp) was better than that job. At least the things Kamino put him through were actually fun,

Kusana liked watching himself progress over time. Even now, he was noticing his muscles become slightly more defined than they were. Kusana had a condition that his muscles were always compressed, but not given volume. Which meant he was always slim but stronger than what people thought.

When Kusana found the waterfall, he immediately ran into it. The falling water acted as a shower, cleaning both his clothes and his body. They hadn't been washed in a while. After a bit of showering, Kusana threw off his shirt and stood under the waterfall.

After getting under the waterfall, Kusana felt the water beating violent against his skin. He spread his legs and made himself look like he was sitting, but minus the chair. This was the horse stance, one of the most basic stances in many martial arts.

To make sure he knew the exact time, Kusana kept counting the minutes in his head. It was extremely tedious because of the mental strain of keeping up with the pain of the waterfall and also keeping note of how many minutes and seconds had passed.

-----more line shenanigans-----

Kusana finally needed to take a break at the thirty minute mark. He went over to the pond in front of the waterfall and collapsed on the shore. He didn't know how much time passed, but it must have been around an hour or so. His body simply refused to get up.

After Kusana did the exercise for another 30 minutes, he was extremely mentally exhausted. He checked the stone tablet and decided to place a mark on it, displaying he had completed it. He placed a tiny rock next to it on the ground to signify he had completed the task.

Kusana plopped down onto the floor and looked at the next task. Next, he had to punch at a tree 500 times. He picked out a fairly smooth tree so that his skin didn't get peeled off from punching it too much. He made a mental note to take a small break every 50 punches to put his hands in the water.

As Kusana started punching, he tried to remember how much time he had spent performing all of the tasks demanded of him. It must have been around 4 hours since he got here, and he was pretty sure it had been around 12 when he had arrived.

Kusana wasn't sure what would happen if he didn't complete the activities required of him by nightfall, but he was sure they weren't good. Except, Kusana was very concerned about it. What time did Kamino consider night time? Kusana assumed it she thought it was 8:00 because of the time Kusana was usually sent to bed.

Plus, he didn't have a clock right with him so he couldn't exactly tell what time it was besides from general estimates. Kusana assumed he should give himself a large range of time to complete the required activities from when he assumed the time was.

Although Kusana was preoccupied with hitting the log, he felt his stomach grumble. It had been a few hours since he ate, so he stopped at 378 punches to find himself a meal. Kusana took a long look at the stone tablet once more to find what plants he needed. After he got a good look at them, Kusana set off to find the plants.

-----this is a line break-----

It took around an hour to finally get all of the specified plants. The main problem wasn't identifying them since there was a description on the tablet, but was properly extracting the food they had. Some were as simple as plucking fruits, others you had to uproot and break off the stem, and others you had to separate from the root and leaves. Kusana used his shirt to hold all of the food.

After returning back to the waterfall, Kusana lit a fire by striking stones onto wood and getting sparks on them. He specifically set up a circle of rocks around it so the fire wouldn't spread. He wasn't sure if Kamino would rescue him if he left himself to burn alive.

Kusana cooked all of the greens by sticking them on a stick and roasting them over a fire, then put them on the stone tablet. He was fairly sure that using it as a plate wouldn't get him punished. After cooking it all, Kusana mixed it in some sort of salad and began to eat it.

Kusana wasn't sure what the salad would taste like, but it tasted surprisingly well, even if it was being gotten directly from his hands. Kusana felt an odd sense of accomplishment from cooking his own meal. It made him feel slightly independent.

The reason why Kusana was mainly displeased by his job was not because of the hours it took. It was the content of the job. There was next to zero entertainment inside of there, but Kusana wasn't fairly sure why.

If Kusana had a job that he genuinely was interested in and enjoyed, he would not have this type of craving for independence. He was disappointed in himself for taking the easy way out; the job that was extremely boring but paid well. The prestige of the middle class were costly on his mental state.

Kusana was so deep in thought, he barely noticed that he finished eating his salad. Almost robotically, he walked over to the waterfall to wash his hands and looked at his reflection.

He could barely recognize himself: long dark brown hair stained black with dirt in some places, a more rugged look on his face instead of the baby face he had before, slight muscles forming on him, and a wild look in his hazel, nearly gold eyes.

Before returning to punching the log, he observed himself and also decided to wash his hair. Kusana quickly found that the black dirt wasn't coming out any time soon, unless he had some kind of special shampoo. It seemed it was permanently pigmented with black parts in his hair. Scrounging around in his pocket for a hair tie. he put his hair in a low ponytail for the time being.

Kusana felt very refreshed, and decided to get back to work. It took him a little bit but he finally finished, with his hands wholly sore. Kusana checked the tablet for the final thing he needed to do, but then a tune started to play across the simulated forest.

The music that played across the forest started off with a happy tune, but quickly became an ominous note. Kusana felt shivers go down his spine as the song played. He gulped and got ready for any type of signifier that something happened. The music was much too out-of-place for Kusana's taste, and had to signify something.

Once the music finally ended, Kusana noticed the "sky" visibly changing. Where there was previously a bright light instead of a ceiling, it was slowly beginning to darken and it quickly became extremely dark.

Kusana was able to hear a faint rumbling coming from all ends of the forest.
