Chapter 37 - Returned to Camp

Deep red dyed wooden spikes as corpses were impaled in the surrounding area. At the center of this, Kagami who collapsed to his knees as pain racked his body from his various wounds. While on top being a sliver away from death from chakra exhaustion. Yet, he pushed himself up from the ground as he limped towards Mira.

Seeing she was still living, but was rapidly losing blood. Kagami pulled out a small roll of bandages and a small round metallic looking capsule. Then after seeing her state, he didn't dare allow her to swallow the capsule. So he used another entrance and began cutting away her clothes so he could clean her wounds. After bandaging her up the best he could at the moment and hoped the nanobots he just inserted into her will take care of the rest.

Kagami pulled out another capsule and swallowed it as he began to treat his own wounds. Then as gentle as he can, he picked up Mira who was very pale from blood loss and began limping back towards camp. Each step felt heavy and painful as pain shot through his body with each step he took.

A few hours after Kagami left with Mira, a group of Kumogakure shinobi appeared at the gruesome scene. Their eyes widened as tears rolled down their cheeks at their fallen comrades and shock when they saw Killer Bee and Yugito's current state.

"Medics, hurry and find any possible survivors." A jonin roared.

The same jonin wanted to shout out the orders to track the ones responsible, but besides himself and two others who were just promoted to chunin. He couldn't since if they left no one would be left to protect the medic nin and the wounded.

'Please be alright Killer Bee and Yugito.' the jonin thought as he didn't dare imagine the trouble it would cause the village if both jinchurikis were killed.

Nearly two and half days later, with most of his wounds more or less closed as the nanobots worked overtime repairing his body. Kagami, who was still carrying the unconscious Mira, arrived back at camp with her wounds close, but could easily reopen. Luckily as he was drawing close to the gate, a shinobi who was on look out spotted them and informed a few medic to rush out for them.

"Be careful, her wounds could easily reopen." Kagami said softly as he placed Mira on the gurney.

Then, Kagami nearly collapsed and was placed on his own before he blacked out.

When Kagami woke up nearly a day later, he looked up at the tent roof before turning his head. There on the next bed, Mira also seemed to regain consciousness as she was looking around. However, much like him, she was wrapped up in bandages and doesn't seem to be able to move much with the amount.

"I'm alive?" Mira said with a slightly hoarse voice.

"Do you think such a small amount of Kumo shinobi could take us to the grave?" Kagami answered.

Mira turned her head to look at him, "If our current state is to go by, then yes."

Kagami looked at himself and frowned as he didn't seem too bad compared to her. So he just let out a smile, "Then we just need to train harder."

'Speaking of training, is there anything around here to tinker with?' Kagami's mind shifted gears as he began to look around.

Sadly there wasn't anything so, he began to think about different projects again in an attempt to distract himself from his weakness. Which resulted in him tapping his finger constantly as he closed his eyes to begin running different blueprints in his mind. From upgrading his chakra reader, building chakra fueled vehicles, or even building a virtual reality where he could implement missions or training scenarios.

Each idea got him excited much since the start up will be a bit expensive, but the payoff. It would greatly benefit the village and in the future the world. Resources from far away will arrive sooner, which will allow him to do even more projects. Virtual Reality could also improve the shinobi ability in the village and how cool it would be to receive lessons from a previous Hokage. Granted it would just be a virtual skin, but he was sure he could implement their personality to some degree.

Yet, despite all his ideas, Kagami couldn't do anything to bring them into reality. Since he keeps getting sent out on missions or stations at various borders.

"Kagami!"

Breaking out of his thoughts due to Mira basically shouting his name. Kagami opened his eyes to see Mira glaring fiercely at him. Then he watched as her glare faded away when she let out a sigh.

"Look, we are in the bounty book."

In Mira's hand was a new copy of the bounty book and in the back, Kagami could see profile pictures of both himself and Mira. Then he saw the bounty and felt his eyelid twitch at the number.

"We are only worth forty million together? Is there something wrong with who posted this bounty?" Kagami complained. "With our looks alone we could be worth at least fifty million each, not to mention with our skills."

Mira just rolled her eyes, but smiled since he indirectly called her pretty. "Well, from what I can pick out, they suspect there are multiple of us who used transformation jutsu. Since it is unbelievable that one person can use Ice, Magnet, and suspected Wood Release."

"Is it Raikage who posted it? If so, is there mention of my Flying Thunder God?" Kagami looked a little amused.

"Well, it is there, but said while you can use it, you aren't very skilled in the usage. So one should take note, but shouldn't be worried." Mira bursted out laughing.

"Unskilled, am I unskilled in Flying Thunder God." Kagami muttered.

Sure he isn't zipping around everywhere like Minato did, but to be called unskilled. Kagami felt insulted and felt disappointed he didn't hit the Raikage harder when they met previously.

Luckily, he didn't mull over it for long and was back to smiling. Then a man walked into the tent and both recognized it as the one in charge of the camp.

"Both of you will return to the village in a few days to fully heal." The man just gave them a letter and left.

Joy filled both their hearts at this information. Since they can finally return to the village to see their grandfathers.
