Chapter 23 - Fourth Hokage

Inside the recently completed remodeled warehouse turned laboratory. A boy around nine was holding his chin as he looked at lines upon lines of data in front of him. It's been around a month and a half since he built the nanobots and tested it on Mira as well Maru and Taiyō.

Since then, besides doing some escort missions, Kagami has been practicing molding two chakra elements together. While it wasn't always Wood Release since it took too much out of him with each jutsu. He instead went with Ice Release for the time being as well dabbled in Blaze release.

"What are you stuck on?" A girl's voice appeared behind him.

Kagami didn't make any movements to turn or answer as he tapped the screen a few times. Suddenly a bunch of different data appeared before him. So after a few moments of looking he closed it.

"The lack of more data to pull from." Kagami sighed. "Thanks to the data I got Senju and Uchiha data, but I need more if I want to safely find a way to imitate it."

"Imitate? Why would you want to imitate the sharingan?" Mira blinked.

Kagami hummed for a moment. "Not so much the sharingan but chakra instead. I'm sure you realize this but we lack chakra."

"Mmm." Mira nodded in agreement.

Both of them have well above average chakra reserves, but compared to most Senju and Uzumaki members they have low amounts. Hence, Kagami wanted to collect more data on them, but Senju basically all disappeared and Uzumaki scattered since their village was destroyed. It would make collecting a large pool of data from them difficult as Kagami only knew of a couple members.

"While it may not be helpful, why don't you put your nanobots in the hospital." Mira said.

"I thought about it, but I have yet to receive the all clear from the Third and Minato hasn't yet taken the mantle." Kagam sighed helplessly.

Then a thought popped into his head, "Isn't Minato taking over today?"

"Yep, his wife was so happy." Mira nodded.

"When did you meet Kushina?" Kagami asked, blinking.

Mira grinned as she puffed out her chest in pride. "Two weeks ago. She's been teaching me fuinjutsu saying I am her prize disciple to brag about in front of Minato."

'Did Minato mention Kakashi and I too many times in front of her?' Kagami narcissistically thought, but hit right on the dot.

Dismissing the thought, Kagami looked at the time and realized that it should be happening soon enough. So stretching his body, Kagami looked at Mira.

"Race you to the square." He grinned.

Mira grinned as she bolted out the door with her words saying 'You're on' following behind her.

Arriving at the square where many had already gathered, Kagami and Mira held each other's hands as they navigated the crowd. Many were excitedly talking to each other and were singing praise about Minato's past deeds. While waiting to see what he will bring to the village in the future.

"Kagami, there are games." Mira pointed to the side excitedly.

A few merchants who had shops surrounding the square had put out a few small games for children and teens to play while waiting for the ceremony to start. Kagami just watched on as these merchants and shop owners' pockets grew a small bit.

"Do you want to play?" Kagami asked.

"I'd rather play the game we created last week." Mira said excitedly.

The game she was talking about was the five basic elements which he based off Rock-Paper-Scissor. They would transform their chakra while channeling it to their hands and display an element on the count of three. While it was fairly simple to say, it was a bit tricky to do as one not only had to think fast but also do chakra change in seconds.

"I guess we can play it." Kagami nodded as he found an empty bench not far away.

Taking a seat across from Mira as they prepared their hands. Kagami stared at Mira intensely as he tried to read which element she would throughout. While she did the same they raised their fist and counted down.

Channeling his chakra, a small fire appeared in his hand while Mira displayed lightning that coated her hand. Which made both slump as the hand was considered a draw since usually they would put a small training challenge in such cases. However, since they were at the square waiting for the ceremony, they couldn't do anything.

Back and forth, the two threw out their hands with Kagami winning the last hand as his earth beat Mira water. Since the ceremony was about ready to begin and on top of the Hokage building the Third appeared with Minato by his side. When he passed the Hokage hat to Minato and one short speech later the ceremony was done.

"That was quick." Mira said as they headed towards the Hokage Office.

"Did you want to sit through a long speech or something?" Kagami laughed.

Shaking her head, Mira disliked the idea of sitting through a long speech. However, she was a bit disappointed since she thought it would be more grand. Yet, it was just the Third giving Minato a hat and Minato waving to the crowd with a short speech thanking everyone for allowing him to become Hokage.

Knocking on the Hokage Office door, Kagami heard Minato's voice for him to come in. Inside Hiruzen was smoking a pipe like a little kid as he held a box of his belongings and ready to run. Clearly he saw the stack of papers on the desk and laughed happily as he said goodbye in a cheerful mood.

"What can I do for you, Kagami?" Minato shook his head at the Third leaving figure.

Kagami explained his purpose for nanobots and wanted permission to continue testing them in the hospital. While he vaguely knew of the tiny robots Kagami built, Minato asked Kagami to describe his goals. After nearly forty minutes of back and forth, Minato nodded in agreement and allowed Kagami to place his nanobots in the hospital.
