Akira had long since devised a plan to awaken his Mangekyō Sharingan. The solution? Stage a deeply personal, theatrical performance.
Naturally, he wouldn't be the protagonist of this play but rather the one who orchestrates it—splitting off a part of his spiritual essence to create another "self." This spiritual clone would possess memories and personality traits carefully tailored by Akira himself.
Before mastering the Spiritual Transformation Technique, achieving such a feat would have been exceedingly difficult. Even for the Uchiha Clan, known for their mastery of genjutsu, it's nearly impossible to craft a blank-slate spiritual entity through illusion alone.
However, with the Spiritual Transformation Technique, splitting off a part of his essence became relatively straightforward. This technique provided the framework for dividing one's spiritual energy, making it an attainable goal for someone of Akira's caliber.
Of course, splitting his spiritual essence would inevitably cause damage to his main self, whether intentional or not. But to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan, Akira considered such damage an acceptable price to pay. Once he succeeded in awakening his eyes, he could reabsorb and fuse with the divided spiritual entity, restoring himself—and perhaps even emerging stronger.
The more challenging aspect wasn't the act of splitting but determining the personality and memories to instill in his spiritual clone. These elements were critical.
The Sharingan was known as the "Eye That Reflects the Soul," and the unique abilities awakened upon achieving the Mangekyō Sharingan were directly influenced by one's personality, experiences, and emotions. Akira needed to proceed with utmost caution.
The last thing he wanted was to end up with abilities like Amaterasu or Tsukuyomi, which would be, in his view, laughably unsuitable.
For the birth of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, one's original Mangekyō eyes had to serve as the foundation for merging another set. Using another's Mangekyō Sharingan as the primary set wouldn't work. This ruled out using Obito's Kamui eyes directly for the fusion.
Still, Akira wasn't about to abandon Kamui. The Uchiha Clan's history offered solutions.
During the Warring States period, the clan had developed methods to transplant and integrate Mangekyō Sharingan abilities into their own eyes. Akira could, in theory, transplant Kamui into his Mangekyō Sharingan, granting each eye dual abilities.
Such feats had historical precedent. An Uchiha woman named Hikaru had once fused Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi into her Mangekyō Sharingan, becoming a living weapon against the Senju Clan. However, Hikaru's eventual fate—a collaborative sealing by the Senju and Sarutobi Clans—was a grim reminder of the risks involved.
Akira had briefly entertained the idea of seeking out Hikaru's sealed form but ultimately dismissed it. Her hatred for both the Uchiha and the ninja world at large, born from unspeakable suffering, made her an incredibly dangerous figure. Akira doubted his ability to sway her, even if he managed to locate her.
In any case, transplanting abilities wasn't beyond Akira's reach. With his knowledge of the Uchiha Clan's secrets, he was more than capable of performing the procedure.
"If it comes down to it, I'll just mimic Obito's setup," Akira mused. His mind had been spinning with potential personas and backstories for the spiritual clone, but none felt right.
Half-heartedly creating a persona might result in undesirable abilities like Amaterasu. If nothing else, Kamui was a safe bet—it was versatile and undeniably powerful.
The abilities granted by the Mangekyō Sharingan were tied to one's inner desires at the moment of awakening. However, they weren't entirely under one's control. From what Akira observed, the abilities seemed to be predetermined to some extent, almost like drawing from a fixed pool of possibilities.
For Akira, the ideal abilities lay in time-space manipulation or other unique powers like Uchiha Hikaru's Eight Thousand Spears. Mundane elemental techniques—akin to fire or water-based abilities—were of little interest to him.
"It's like a gacha system," Akira muttered, shaking his head in frustration. No one, not even himself, could fully predict the outcome.
Finally, he exhaled deeply and resigned himself to chance. "Whatever happens, happens. As long as I avoid something completely useless, I can work with it. With Kamui as a safety net, it won't be too bad."
Forming the hand seals for the Spiritual Transformation Technique, Akira's body began to glow faintly, the light spreading outward as a translucent figure emerged from him.
Once outside, the spiritual entity started weaving its own hand seals. White specks of light drifted from its form, coalescing into a small, glowing orb. Pain etched itself across the entity's features as its essence twisted and contorted.
This process of division would have been impossible without Akira's formidable spiritual resilience. Even so, it was far from easy.
With the stage set, Akira was ready to gamble everything for his Mangekyō Sharingan.
