Dinner With Itachi

A/N: This is before he is traumatised by the 3rd great ninja war, so Itachi isn't a badass just yet. Again, remember to leave Good reviews and powerstones to support. Enjoy.

A week had passed since the incident with Kenta and his crew. Although Kenta made large threats, they seemed to have been avoiding the training grounds because Eiji never saw them again. As usual, Eiji maintained his routine, making significant progress by training twice a day. He was now able to do a max rep of 10 push-ups, 20 squats, 20 sit-ups, 3 pull-ups, and had increased his running distance to 400 meters.

Pleased with the progress he had made, Eiji got up and left the training ground in hopes of completing the Beginner's Chakra Theory book when he got home.

'That's odd, I didn't see Shisui today. He's probably on a mission, since he said he was a Genin. I was hoping to learn more about how to throw a shuriken, since he's been teaching me for the past week. I guess I get more time to read on the upside at least.'

When he got home, Eiji kicked off his shoes at the doorstep and rushed towards his room, ready to continue where he left off. To his dismay, his mother stood at the door waiting for him, ready to scold him once more.

"You didn't even bother to greet me when you came home?! Straight to the books, hm?! I'll be setting up dinner with my brother Fugaku. This way you'll be spending time with your cousin Itachi. You always decline whenever we go there, so they'll be coming here. If you stay in your room all day, your books are going to get locked away!" Kiyoko yelled.

Eiji wasn't interested in spending time with Itachi in the slightest. He didn't have the patience to hold a conversation with his three-year-old cousin.

'Mom is only saying this because she thinks I'm only a few months older than him. She doesn't know that I've reincarnated! Now I have to deal with this stuff… I can't even catch a break!'

"Yesss, Mommm," Eiji said in a mocking tone, but quickly apologized after seeing a vein pop up on his mother's face.

Appeased, his mother moved out of his way, allowing him to enter his room and continue reading until the time for dinner came around.

Evening had now arrived and Eiji had finished the chakra theory book. Feeling triumphant, Eiji left his room and sat at the dinner table, awaiting his uncle's arrival. Sato had also just gotten off work, so he was also at the table having a conversation with Eiji.

"So how's the taijutsu training going?" Sato asked, curious to find out his son's progress.

Eiji, not amused with being tricked into working out, responded, "You made it seem simple. You never told me I'd have to spend months building up my body!"

"Haha, so you figured it out? I thought it'd take you much longer and you'd come to me for help. You really do continue to surprise me, son. Remember what I told you? Chakra is made of both spiritual and physical energies. Your chakra will be too little to produce a decent clone if you aren't in good enough shape!" Sato explained.

'Well, the geezer has a point. I won't be able to do much with such little chakra. Shisui also explained how the Sharingan can be incredibly draining to use, so it's better to have an ample amount of chakra…'

A knock on the door cut the conversation short. Sato stood up, made his way towards the door, and opened it for the guests. First to enter was Fugaku. Every time Eiji saw Fugaku, he couldn't help but notice the aura of authority he carried. Fugaku wasn't only clan leader in title but also in character. Itachi trailed behind, and finally, Mikoto.

Itachi was slightly shorter than Eiji and had mid-length black hair that reached his jaw.

'He's grown taller. I haven't seen him in a while; looks like he's getting by well.'

"Welcome Fugaku, Mikoto! And how could I forget, Itachi!" Sato exclaimed cheerily.

Kiyoko's face seemed to grow red from embarrassment. "Come, take a seat," she invited.

Eiji held in his laugh. His father was pure comedy wherever they went. The family all came and sat at the opposite side of the table. Itachi and Eiji were both opposite each other in the middle.

"I haven't seen your son in a while, Sato; looks like he's growing well," Fugaku said, breaking the ice.

Sato began laughing and put his arm around Eiji. "This here is a prodigy. He will take the title of clan head if Itachi isn't diligent!" he announced.

Fugaku, feeling slightly challenged by Sato's words, replied, "It's not good to inflate the child's ego at such a young age. That being said, as clan leader, I am glad to see talented youths bloom from the Uchiha clan. He'll be a good right-hand man to Itachi," Fugaku stated.

The atmosphere in the room was now comfortable, but one person wasn't happy. Eiji was staring at the brat in front of him, unable to imagine ever serving him.

'Uncle Fugaku is making some bold statements. If anything, Itachi will be serving me! Let me stir some trouble, hehe.'

"Uncle, I won't be a right-hand man to that brat. He'll be serving me instead!" Eiji declared with a serious expression.

"Eiji! Be kind to your cousin!" Kiyoko scolded.

The room grew silent and the awkward atmosphere returned. Fugaku remained silent, looking as if he was thinking of how to respond.

"That's my boy!" Sato cheered, easing the tension in the room.

A grin also appeared on Fugaku's face. "Competition between brethren is healthy; it promotes growth. Looks like Itachi will have someone to watch out for," Fugaku said.

'Damn it. He managed to make it all philosophical. That's my opportunity to create some chaos wasted. I don't have any intentions of becoming the Uchiha clan head, but having him brush me off is kind of annoying... This dinner is getting boring now…'

An hour of chatting passed. Eiji spent the time messing with his innocent younger cousin and getting him into mischief.

'I can't believe it! When I told him my mother is Hokage, he really believed me! This kid is just too naive! Seeing him call my mother Lord Hokage was hilarious! Maybe next time I'll tell him my father is the founder of the Leaf Village.'

Fugaku and Mikoto had now decided it was time for them to leave. Fugaku, along with Mikoto, left the house, leaving only Itachi, who waved at his older cousin and left.

"Eiji, although you weren't the best behaved, you fulfilled your end of the deal. Good job," Kiyoko congratulated him.

Eiji, having already read the material that covered the basics of chakra, didn't feel excited. He knew that now was his time to put what he had learned to good use. To start off, he would need to improve his chakra control through Leaf Concentration Practice.
