More Battles

After Lee defeated Ino she was sent to the hospital because of chakra exhaustion. Lee was very happy and thanked Guy for letting him show just how youthful he was. "That was sloppy Lee, I could have won in way less time," said Neji with a smug face which Lee ignored.

Gekkou coughed then the screen started going through names again. Naruto was waiting for his turn so he could get the preliminaries over so he would have more rest for the next round, but his name wasn't up on the screen.

"Could Shikamaru Nara and Hinata Hyuga please come down." said Gekkou while coughing. Hinata who was a little nervous walked down while Shikamaru sighed, "Damn how unlucky I have to fight a girl, what a drag."

Shikamaru knew the Hyuga clan specialized in taijutsu so he would have to keep his distance from her. Hinata on the other hand knee she had to get close to win, although she was still shy after she and Naruto had been going to ramen she became much more confident than she was before.

Before the battle started Shikamaru thought he could maybe use the same trick Ino used against Hinata but he didn't know if he should. "3,2,1 let the battle begin!" Shikamaru ran as fast as he could into where the trees were before Hinata could.

He knew if he got into the forest he could control the shadows better. Once he was in the forest he made a few clones, he didn't have to make many because Hinata was not on the same level as Lee was.

He would only put some traps up and send out some clones so he could buy time to get the shadows into position but just in case Shikamaru had another idea that would be extremely troublesome.

Hinata was waiting for Shikamaru to come out of the tree area but he never did. She didn't want to go there because of Shikamaru's shadow control but she knew she couldn't win by just standing there, plus she might see him coming with her Byakugan.

She was soon into the trees and was standing on one searching for Shikamaru with her Byakugan. She soon saw Shikamaru and used something she had been working on. Instead of getting close she took out three kunai and threw them, the kunai bounced off of each other and turned at a 90-degree angle!

The kunai went straight through the Shikamaru clone, "He is using clones like Ino." said Hinata, she knew how smart Shikamaru was and he probably had a plan. Suddenly a clone of Shikamaru jumped behind her, she turned around and threw her hand right through the clone and into the tree.

The tree had a big hole in it and it created a loud noise through the whole arena. Shikamaru was working on his plan when he heard the noise, "She is getting closer, man this sucks." he said as he continued his plan.

Hinata figured out that the noise she made would tell Shikamaru where she was in closeness to him, but she couldn't not attack. "He really is smart, too smart." Hinata continued searching but only found clones and there was no sight of the real body.

The only thing she noticed was that more and more clones were coming to attack at all sides but she didn't know why. Before she could continue thinking 10 clones came to surround her, she attacked them to make sure it was the real body but they all passed right through.

She was going to continue but realized she couldn't move, "Shikamaru!" she was shocked how she did not see him with her Byakugan! "How?" she asked. Shikamaru sighed, "I noticed every time I put a clone in a certain point you had a slower reaction which meant there was a blind spot. I was in your blind spot, good thing I didn't have to use plan 2 that would have been troublesome."

Shikamaru then reached in and pulled out a kunai, "If I throw this you will throw it too but I can dodge by bending backward, you can't." he said pointing behind Hinata where there was a tree. "I would give up unless you want to make this a drag." said Shikamaru, "I give up," said Hinata, a little depressed.

"Under the rules of the chunin exams Hinata Hyuga has forfeited and Shikamaru Nara is the winner" Up in the stands Neji scoffed, "She did better than I thought but she is still useless." everyone else was now excited as it was the closest battle out of all the previous ones before them.

The screen flashed before anyone was done talking about the match, they then got interrupted by Gekkou Hayate, "Will Sakura and Temari please come down." Sakura didn't expect her to be next, "Lucky, by my luck I'll probably go last. Hopefully, I will get a good fight out of it." Sakura nodded.

"Ha what weakling am I fighting!" said Temari confidently but Sakura was also confident, "I could say the same thing blondie!" Temari scoffed, "Whatever little girl." Gekkou told them to knock it off and then started the battle.

Sakura knew she had a perfect genjutsu for somebody like her, she didn't know her abilities other than she used her fan but still felt she could win. The only problem with his genjutsu is that Sakura had to touch her which would be difficult.

As soon as the battle started Temari used her giant fan and hurled a huge amount of wind at Sakura who got smacked with the full force. Sakura barely held her ground and then ran at Temari. "Not bad girl, but take this!"

A huge amount of wind came flying at Sakura, instead of dodging Sakura took the full force of the attack. "Ha, done already!" taunted Temari however when the dust settled Sakura was nowhere to be seen. "Huh, where did she go?" questioned Temari

The next thing she knew she was thrown under the ground and Sakura was above her. Temari's eyes went wide, "Headhunter jutsu?" "Yep." Sakura then placed two fingers on Temari's forehead and put her in a genjutsu.

The genjutsu was called the melting body technique, the genjutsu made the target see and feel their limbs melt off of their body. It was a highly effective technique. The only bad part was that it required touch to work.

Sakura jumped up and down, "Yes I won! I really won!" in all honesty she came into this battle thinking she would lose but she won! Naruto was also surprised he thought the battle would be a lot closer and longer but it turns out Sakura was stronger than he thought.

Suddenly Kakashi appeared behind him. "Oh, it looks like I missed Sakura's battle, what a shame, I just happened to be lost on the path of life." Naruto turned around, "Where have you been?" "I had to speak with the Hokage about something."

Naruto nodded, "About Orochimaru?" Kakashi was surprised, "You know?" "Of course, there are only two people I know of who use snakes and I doubt Anko would attack us." Now that Kakashi thought about it, that did make sense. "Well anyways yes, don't tell anyone about Orochimaru it's a secret." "No problem," said Naruto

someone has reminded me that there isn't a forest in the preliminaries, so sorry about that but I already wrote the chapter and I'm not going to change that.
