Because I love her

As Nathan carried Nara out of the tattoo parlor, her protests echoed in his ears.

"Put me down!" Nara demanded as she struggled with him.

But he remained steadfast, his mind focused on getting her home.

Ignoring the curious stares of onlookers, he gently placed her in the car, his expression a mixture of frustration and anger.

Gwen slid into the car beside Nara, casting a disgusted glance at her.

Nathan got into the car, and Louis immediately drove them home.

Upon arriving home, Nathan wasted no time in reprimanding Nara.

"You are simply unbelievable, Nara," Nathan said angrily to Nara, who yawned.

"Look who's talking. You literally have a shrine of your dead wife upstairs," Nara answered flatly. She was really not in the mood for arguing. She was now tired from all the kicking and screaming and just wanted to lie down.

Nathan rubbed his temples. "Nancy said you deliberately injured yourself in the kitchen today. Wanna talk about that instead?"

"I don't wanna talk about anything with you, Nathan. It's not like you care about me, so why have meaningless conversations," Nara answered dismissively, without bothering to look up at Nathan, whose eyes were filled with genuine worry.

"If I didn't care about you, Nara, I wouldn't leave all my important meetings and schedules to come make sure you're alright."

"Well, I'm alright. So you can go back to your important meetings and schedules and leave me the fuck alone," Nara replied dismissively.

Gwen, who was also in the living room with them, couldn't hold herself any longer.

"You know, my brother really shows you so much love that frankly you do not deserve, and you still don't appreciate it. Personally, I think you should be locked up because you are freaking insane," Gwen voiced out angrily. Was her brother blind? What the hell did he see in this woman!

"Gwen. Stay out of this," Nathan warned.

"No. She's right. I don't deserve your love, Nathan, because I don't fucking need it anymore," Nara replied emotionlessly.

"All I need now is simply your money," Nara admitted truthfully. "I'm currently still in this marriage because of it."

"You have no shame," Gwen replied in disbelief.

"And you have no boobs. How does that make you feel?" Nara mocked with a smirk before gracefully exiting the living room and going upstairs to her bedroom.

Gwen glared at Nara before instinctively looking down at her relatively small breasts. Then angrily crossed her arms over her chest.

"Nara is a problem. Nate, please tell me she's not moving into the family estate too," Gwen asked with a pout.

Nathan sighed as he raked his hair. He was under a lot of pressure already. But somehow Nara always managed to make things harder for him.

"Just divorce her," Gwen suggested as if she could hear her brother's thoughts.

Nathan's eyes grew distant. "Never."

"She literally just admitted that she's a gold digger who doesn't love you. And you still don't see she's insane?" Gwen asked angrily.

"She's not insane. She's just complicated. And part of the reason she's this way is my fault. I shouldn't have lied to her. I should have told her the truth from the very beginning," Nathan admitted softly.

"The truth was yours to tell. You didn't ever lie to her. You just weren't ready. And if she had loved you, she would have understood. But she doesn't, because she doesn't love you. Why can't you see that?"

"Because I love her."
