Chapter 7: Rivalry

"You blue haired girl. And you the girl who can't seem to sit down. You two will be fighting next." Phos said.

"Okayy. Let's enjoy ourselves shall we?"

Both students came up to the stage.

"My name is Misa. It's nice to meet you." Misa introduce herself as she prepares for the fight.

"So boringg... Anyways I am Amelia and I'm here to blow everyone away!" Amelia said as she took out her wooden dagger.

"Finally it's not two swords fighting against each other" A student said while watching. "This should be interesting."

Misa unsheathes her sword and Phos started counting. "Three.. Two.. One.. Go!"

Amelia took the offensive with Galestride.

Misa kneels and unsheathes her sword but still holding it. And Amelia came closer. "Is she insane? Unsheathing her blade in times like this."

As Amelia is about to strike Misa, something happened. She was pushed back by a strong force. "Instinctual Parry" She quickly seized the opportunity and used Stormblade Dash.

"Wha-" Amelia was pushed onto the walls. She tries to stand up but Misa would not give her a chance.

Misa grabbed Amelia by her neck and slammed her on the floor. "Aqua Launch." A burst of water from the ground threw Amelia mid-air. And Misa caught up with her. "Tidesplitter" she hit Amelia slamming her on the ground

"Calm do-" Amelia tried asking Misa for some mercy but she won't stop. attacks after attacks, magic after magic. Misa did not hold back at all against Amelia.

By the time Misa was finished, Amelia was already lying on the ground unconscious. The medical team quickly rushed into the arena to heal Amelia.

The rest of the students was shocked and was speechless. It was like they were watching a fountain destroy a person.

"So that's what Misa is huh... Now I'm curious as to what Misa and Shiro do usually. I head Shiro supports Misa, maybe she's way stronger than she is in the fight with Shiro's help." Nanako is lost in thoughts.

Nanako wanted to talk to Misa but when she stood up from her seat, she was nowhere to be seen.

After the fights ended, during lunch break, Nanako saw someone bullying another person.

She came close and watched them closely. She focuses her magic on a really small and tiny wind magic then show the bully's hand.

It went through his hand and it started bleeding alot. "H-hey help me here! Heal my wound!" The bully yelled at the other person. "Help you? No way. Better die here than live to hurt more people."

The person pulled out their sword and was ready to stab the bully. "Help! Help me!" "You know you brought me here so no one can hear my screams right? Now die."

As the person was about to stab the bully, another wind trajectory from Nanako was shot, and pushed the blade to miss the bully.

Nanako has been mastering her control over her magic as it lets her have full control over it. She and recently, she's been learning to change the composition of the air. But it's only limited to a really small radius.

Author's note: yes, she can kill just with the air around her. But it's only limited there and it doesn't go with the wind.

Nanako walks up to the two. Knocked them both out with air. "Phew.. that went smoothly." Nanako brought the two to the clinic and said that she saw them fighting and she intervened in the fight.

When Nanako left the clinic Marcus saw her. Marcus approached Nanako. "Yo! uhh Nanako right? Wanna rematch?"

"Sure, let's finish what we started." Nanako replied as they head out for a forest.

Nanako used her windblade again after a while. "Interesting choice of weapon.." Marcus draws his sword. A sword carried by heroes.

"Let's go then. When this coin lands we'll go." Marcus threw the coin. Nanako activates the windblade and this time it didn't quickly drained her mana. The blade was relevantly big too.

When the coin dropped, Marcus quickly dashed into Nanako. His sword went through the windblade like a butter. Nanako turned it off the moment Marcus's blade hits her but it didn't turn off instantly causing the blade to be cut off.

Nanako dodged the sword and Marcus was stunned as to what just happened. "W-what was that..."

"That's my windblade. A focused wind magic that can cut through nearly anything like butter." "If I hadn't turned it off in time, there would've been a scratch on your face or something worse."

"Well thank you I guess?" "I'm sorry about it. Your sword looked expensive too." "But still, how do you do that?"

Nanako held the hilt with both her hand. "I just pour my magic into it and control how the blade will be like." "Interesting.. It's just like infusing your weapon with magic."

"Infusing magic with weapon?" "Yeah, just like this. Fire Infusion: Inferno Blade." The broken sword was set on fire.

"This infusion lets me add fire into my sword's attacks. It will burn everything on it's path." "And infused weapons attacks does not require any casting to use magic. As long as you have a clear vision of your movements, magic should be flowing just fine."

"It's just like how I cast magic without casting.." Nanako thought. "I need to learn how to do this." Nanako told Marcus. "Teach me how."

"Like I said. It's just like pouring magic into your hilt." "I'll try it."

Nanako poured her magic into the sword but it did nothing.

"Maybe you need practice?" "Magic infusion takes practice and I don't think it works the same as your hilt right there."

"See, there's runic characters on it. I don't remember there being runic on magic infusion."

A wolf jumped from the bushes and charged at Marcus. But Nanako was able to kill the wolf before it could come close to him.

"Blue wolf with black horn. Nanako let's get out of this area quick! This wolf travels in pack and they all have a connection to lightning magic." Marcus and Nanako quickly fled the area. But it was a bit too late.

The wolves caught up to them and attacked them. Nanako pushed them back and they continued running. "Another thing, they also travel with an alpha who leads the pack. Usually, the alpha is bigger than most wolves and has bright red eyes."

"But I don't see any." "They usually hide so they can't be killed easily leaving the pack without an alpha."

Nanako and Marcus reached a dead end. "Nanako can you go up there?" "Maybe."

"Go up, I'll hold them for you." "But you don't have a weapon." "My magic alone is enough" "Alright then." Nanako jumped up the cliff with the help of her magic.

"Quickly Marcus come up! I'll cover for you while you get up here." Nanako used Wind Slash on the wolves that tried to get Marcus as he climbs the cliff.

When Marcus finally climbed up the cliff. They both heard a loud howling. And a bolt of lightning approaches them.

"Watch out!" Nanako pulled Marcus using her magic and dodged the lightning. "Thanks! Let's go run back to the school or the town before we get into anymore trouble."

"Sounds good." Then Marcus and Nanako walked back to the school and joked about what just happened. It's quite an experience for both of them.

They then reported the wolf situation to the knights and they took care of the matter and thanked them for reporting it in.

After that day, a rivalry sparked between Nanako and Marcus. With Marcus seeking to improve and find something to fight against Nanako's wind blade and Nanako training to be stronger.

"We've got quite an interesting pair here. Don't you think so? Tairitsu." "Shut up Hikari, I didn't get enough sleep for this.."
