Soon, Nate was finished with what he was doing and was now focusing on his weapon.
After Peter was given the axe as his weapon, Nate was left with only the knives and a baseball bat for balance.
From the fight, Nate had seen how useful the knives were, but even so, he still wanted to make some adjustments to them.
There were many things scattered around their house, including an elastic wire that was most likely kept there by Chris to use as a whip when beating Nate or Peter.
"We did suffer in our childhood," Nate thought, stealing a look at Peter.
"Argh, ahhing!" Peter replied with a zombie sound.
"Don't worry, soon we will find him and make him suffer too," Nate said before getting back to what he was doing.
Each of the knives had a hole at the top end of its handle.
Nate tied the elastic wires to the holes, then also tied the ends of the wires to his arms a few inches away from his armpits.
There were five knives in total, and he attached two wires to his left armpit and two more to his right armpit.
After that, Nate threw one of the knives at the wall.
Stuck...!
The knife stuck in the wall.
Nate yanked on the wire, pulling it out from the wall and back to his hand.
"It worked, now I won't have to worry about how to retrieve my thrown knife," Nate thought.
After being revealed to the Battle of Life and Death by the former host of the body he is currently in, Nate had learned a lot from the fight.
He observed everything in the fight and highlighted all the mistakes that had cost him his life.
That's why he was trying to amend all the mistakes and avoid them.
After finishing with the knives, Nate had another problem at hand - where to keep the knives when he was not using them.
He found a small bag and attached it to his waist, carefully placing all the knives inside.
After that, Nate wondered what he should do with the last knife on the table.
After a few minutes of contemplating, Nate decided to put it in his pocket.
Grabbing the baseball bat, Nate swung it a few times, back and forth.
"I think we are ready," Nate thought as he headed toward the door.
The door of the house had already been fixed by Nate, although it wasn't in a good position after his attempt to fix it. It was still good enough to close the house up.
Following behind Nate was none other than Peter, as they both took their first step out into the chaotic world.
But the worst thing was that Nate still thought and took the whole thing as a game.
Who knows what was waiting for him outside?
It was broadcasted that a certain apartment had suddenly exploded.
After the professionals investigated the matter, no reasonable answers were found.
Currently sitting at his classroom desk was Kai, with Mai beside him.
"Have you heard from that Nate guy?" Kai asked.
"Really?"
"You haven't heard?"
"Heard what?" Kai asked in confusion.
Mai leaned forward and whispered, "He is dead."
"What?!" Kai almost shouted but was grabbed by Mai, who covered his mouth to shut him up.
When it seemed like Kai had calmed down, Mai slowly removed her hand from his mouth.
"Why did you have to shout?" Mai said after letting go of Kai's mouth.
"What do you mean why did I have to shout? Nate is dead. What killed him?" Kai still couldn't believe that such a thing was possible.
"Come on, he died from the radiation of the house that exploded," Mai answered as if there was nothing wrong with it.
"Wait... the building?"
"I thought they found nothing in the house. Something is not right," Kai sensed that something was off in the story.
"Wait... Mai...!"
"You know something about this, right?" Kai asked.
Sigh...!
"Fine. I will tell you when school is over. Here is not the right place to start this type of conversation," Mai said, walking out to go and chat with the girls.
Kai's eyes narrowed.
His instincts started to kick in.
Eventually, the school dismissal time came and the bell rang as usual.
Rand...!
Rand...!
Rand...!
All the students started to come out from their respective classes.
Meanwhile, while everyone was coming out of their classes, a particular boy was staying behind. But he was not alone; beside him was another boy of the same age.
This was, of course, Kai and Mia.
Shortly after they were sure that everyone had left, Kai and Mia also left the classroom.
Mia led Kai to a particular area, although Kai didn't know where they were going. He wasn't worried as he simply followed Mia out of the school compound.
While on the way, Mia started to talk.
"You know, Kai, we rich kids are superior to the poor."
"To them, we are like gods in their eyes, even though we're just ordinary people like them," Mia said and then stopped to take a deep breath.
"Since my whole life, no other poor kid or even adult has ever treated me like Nate did to us."
"Someone at his level should be bowing down to us, but he dared to fight back. Isn't that stupid?" Mia asked.
"And where are you going with all these narrative things? All I want to know is how Nate died and what killed him," Kai said.
It was already clear to Kai that Mia knew something that she wasn't saying.
But the question was, what was she hiding?
But it was of no use to ask because in the next few minutes, Kai would get his answers.
Soon, Kai found himself in an abandoned building.
It was a building that was most likely condemned.
The two teenagers went into the building, cutting through the fence that used to surround it.
Just after making sure that no one was following them, Mia started to talk.
"Okay, now Kai. This is the answer you want," Mia said.
"First of all, you asked about how Nate died and what killed him."
"I will start with how he died."
"Nate died playing a game, and as for what killed him or who killed him, to be precise..."
"I did it. I killed him."
