Leah, the young fairy from the Wind Clan, had received an unexpected order from the village chief that morning. Their clan's patriarch had instructed them to bring some individuals back to the village, though Leah wasn't sure why. But an order from the patriarch was absolute, so she set out to fulfil her task.
Upon leaving the safety of the village and venturing into the lands of Britain, Leah's misfortune struck when she encountered a fearsome monster. In this era, Britain was still a sanctuary for the gods, teeming with mystical creatures—fairies and monsters alike. For large groups like the Camelot army, monsters would avoid direct conflict. However, for a lone fairy-like Leah, things were much more dangerous.
Leah was not an especially skilled magician, and as soon as she saw the monster, her instinct was to flee. But before she could get far, the creature pinned her down. She feared the worst was about to happen.
Just as Leah braced for the worst, a sudden surge of magical energy pierced the air, followed by the sound of a magical chant. Moments later, the monster was struck down by the magic.
Dazed, Leah looked around and saw two figures approaching her. One was a tall, armoured warrior, and the other was a beautiful female fairy clad in a white uniform and a flowing blue cloak.
"Are you alright?" the female fairy asked with a gentle smile, helping Leah to her feet.
Leah, grateful and relieved, expressed her thanks. "Thank you so much! You saved my life."
The female fairy smiled kindly. "It's no trouble. Just a small matter."
With a curious look, Leah asked, "What brings you both here?"
"We're just wandering fairies with no particular destination," the female fairy replied nonchalantly.
Hearing this, Leah had an idea. "Why don't you both come to our village? I'd like to repay your kindness with hospitality."
Leah thought the strength of these two could be invaluable to her village, especially with the possibility of human attacks looming. Having two powerful fairies around would surely increase their security.
To her delight, the female fairy—who was none other than Morgan—nodded in agreement. "Alright, we'll join you."
Leah felt triumphant, believing she could use her clan's renowned hospitality to persuade the two to stay.
On the other side, Morgan and Lott exchanged glances, their eyes filled with silent understanding. Their disguises were working perfectly. None of the fairies had suspected that they were wandering fairies, but instead, Morgan and Lott had a mission—to gather crucial information about the fairies for the upcoming conflict.
Morgan had carefully crafted her false identities. First, she presented herself as Tonelico, an ordinary fairy. But even if someone were to see through that facade, they would uncover only her second layer of defence—that she was a fairy from the Inner Sea of the Planet. However, her true goal remained hidden: to complete her mission before anyone could expose her.
Together with Lott, she had ventured into northern Britain, where both fairies and humans coexisted. By chance, they encountered Leah and a monster. Saving Leah presented the perfect opportunity to infiltrate the fairy village.
As they walked, Leah couldn't help but ask questions. "Are you two fairies from outside the six clans? I've never heard of you before."
Morgan nodded casually. "Yes, we're not part of the six clans."
Leah's curiosity turned to Lott. "And why does he always wear that iron armour?"
Lott, under the guise of a wandering fairy, responded with a touch of humour. "My appearance isn't suited for exposure. If you saw my face, you'd probably scream."
Inwardly, Lott thought, Because you'd be overwhelmed by my handsome face. But he kept that to himself, feeling Morgan's silent disapproval at his vanity.
Leah, however, took it quite literally and assumed Lott was hiding an unattractive face beneath the armour. "I understand," she said with a sympathetic smile.
As they continued, more fairies began to gather around them, especially as Leah led them into the heart of her village. These were Wind Clan fairies, like Leah, distinguished by the wings on their backs. When they saw Leah return with two strangers, curious gazes followed.
A group of fairies fluttered over, their voices chirping like birds. "Leah, who are these two fairies?"
Leah explained how the strangers had saved her from the monster, and her companions quickly understood—these two were capable warriors who could serve as protectors. The fairies swarmed around Morgan and Lott, offering their thanks and hospitality.
Even Lott, despite being hidden behind his armour, drew the attention of a few of the more daring fairies. Morgan, though maintaining her composure, clenched her teeth in annoyance. She could sense Lott's awkwardness under the mask as he internally protested his innocence.
I'm not doing anything! These fairies are the ones fawning over me, Lott thought desperately.
Morgan, seeing his predicament, couldn't help but silently agree. None of these fairies can be trusted. Someday, they'll all pay for their schemes.
Soon, Morgan and Lott followed the fairies deeper into the village, which looked eerily similar to human settlements. There were farmlands and homes, though many of the labourers were not fairies but humans.
Morgan could feel the tension radiating from Lott. His anger was palpable.
These humans have been reduced to slaves, Lott thought bitterly. These fairies pretend to be kind, but it's all a facade. They control these humans like livestock, offering them false happiness while profiting from their labour.
Leah, oblivious to their inner thoughts, continued chatting. "We brought these humans back to protect them from the Tooth Clan's attacks. Our Wind Clan couldn't bear to see them suffer."
Morgan, playing the part, smiled and replied, "Your clan is very kind."
Hearing Morgan's approval, Leah beamed with pride. "Would you like to stay with us a little longer? Our Wind Clan is known for its hospitality."
Morgan and Lott exchanged a glance, silently agreeing to stay.
"Why not?" Morgan asked Lott. "Shall we stay for a while?"
"Yes, let's," Lott replied, and with that, their next step in the mission was set.
Upon arriving at Leah's home, the Wind Clan fairies immediately prepared a grand feast. Fruits, vegetables, and various delicacies were laid out in abundance to welcome their new guests.
Despite the warm hospitality, Lott couldn't shake the eerie sense that this idyllic scene was nothing more than a carefully constructed illusion.
