CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT (38) Gold-Digging Thoughts

It is one thing to be protective of the one you care about, and that's what everyone was of Rose. To the outside world, she was fierce, wealthy, flashy, beautiful with brains, sexy, gorgeous, strong, evil...

The list goes on, but only those that have been around her, knew that Rose was a soft person. She tried to always conceal it, wearing the mask she was best known with. She became the antagonist and protagonist of her own life, so no one would dare her.

Her journey success as a young girl, wasn't so smooth and sailing, leaving his position for her at such a young age, her father didn't expect much but Rose triumphed, passing through hate and love just to get to where she was. When he resigned and left her in the hands of Ye Zedong, Ye Zedong had sworn to be by her side, guarding her with his life, keeping her safe as he could possibly do and all in all watch her live her life as she pleased.

Sometimes, he went against these promises because of how scared he was of her getting hurt in the slightest way.

Rose, the strong energetic young lady that believes her strength was enough to protect her from the world, always has to face Ye Zedong whom has the opposite opinion.

Even the smallest thing that happens, ends up giving Zedong a scare. For the fact that he was older, he ends up winning.

He stood before her, with his head bowed and refused to move.

Rose scratched her temple severally, swallowed uncountable times but Ye Zedong remained the same way, like an unmovable rock.

They had been in the underground parking garage, for more than twenty minutes with Rose pleading to go alone to the restaurant to meet Su Yuanqi.

At first she used her mean tone to scare Xu Dandan away, as well as Mingyu and Donghai.

However, Ye Zedong caught whiff of this and locked the exit gate from the last floor.

Now standing in front of the back passenger's door, and Duyi at the driver's side, there was no way for her to get past them.

"Mssstcheeew," Rose's sharp hiss sound had two meanings to it, either she was going to continue struggling or agree at the end no one would know until she made a statement.

"Okay." As short as the reply could be, they all understood what she meant. Without further ado, he held the door open for her, she got in and he gently closed it. He gestured for Xu Dandan to get in at the front and she did as she was told.

The only time, Xu Dandan isn't arguing is when she thinks Rose was in danger.

Donghai and Mingyu entered the other SUV, and with Ye Zedong's command, the exit gate was unlocked.

He sighed after watching the two SUV's drove out.

Rose's sauntering into the restaurant caused eyes to turn as always but this time it was more due to the fact she had several guards all clad in black behind her. Even Xu Dandan taupe colored pants and suit weren't helping out. Rose could hear the whispers arising.

Checking out the surrounding, Xu Dandan felt satisfied. Nothing could possibly go wrong in such a high end restaurant with lots of security, she had chosen the right place.

"My my... isn't that Miss Chen?"

"Yes, that young lady has so much power... And influence."

"If only my son could match up to her taste, I would die from happiness."

"The thought alone should be enough to kill you... haha."

"She's so beautiful, oh my goodness. If I had a son, I'd also want to marry him off to her."

"I'd get to enjoy life with such a wealthy daughter in-law."

The older women were so loud that it made Xu Dandan want to puke, did they have to be so loud with their gold-digging thoughts?

Thankfully there weren't in the same floor as Rose, or else she'd have a lot of glaring to do.

Xu Dandan stood behind as her boss and guards went up to the second floor.

The soprano playing in the restaurant, the intricate designs on the wall, well dressed waiters and waitresses was enough to tell that the restaurant wasn't cheap.

Clad in a beige colored turtleneck sweater made of wool, that was tucked into a caramel colored pant and chocolate colored long blazer.

Su Yuanqi's lone walking figure, carried an air of aloofness, his blank expression as well as his features made him look like an idol.

Sighting him, Xu Dandan directed that he go up to the second floor.

His long strides towards her table made Rose's heart skip a bit.

Why was he so handsome? Even the colors he chose matched his tanned skin tone.

Rose looked directly into his eyes and didn't know when her lips went upward.

When she realized this, she stopped. What are you thinking Rose? She should be keeping her business profile not the friendly one, but her heart was saying otherwise. Including her lips.

"You're so handsome,"

Hearing this compliment from their young Miss, the three men that had taken another table not to far away felt their ears burn.

What?

Did Miss Chen really say that?

No, no, there's no way she did.

Su Yuanqi on the other hand felt his breath hitch. Is this how she complimented everyone? He could see the sparkle in her eyes, but he kept mum as he didn't know how to reply to that. She was one to make him speechless and confused.

"I'm sorry for not keeping to my words yesterday."

"Good evening Miss Chen," He greeted as soon as he found his voice.

"Rose," she corrected first. "Good evening to you too." Her smile made Su Yuanqi to rethink.

Why was the Rose shown on television different from the one here?

Was she clowning her attitude?

"It's fine, I heard that you were attacked yesterday."

"Uhhh," Rose covered her mouth shyly. "You were checking out on your enemy, Hunh?"

Su Yuanqi had absolutely no idea how to react to that. So she also thought of him as enemy just like those internet people? And her scoff at the end of her sentence? What was it for?

"C'mon," Rose raised and dropped her eyebrows at Su Yuanqi. "Trust me, you don't have to be so shy."

Xu Dandan whom had just gotten to the last step, heard Rose sentence and stopped dead in her track. What was she blabbering on about?
