Joseph was stunned momentarily, asking hesitantly, "Are you sure I should carry you?"

Lucille replied confidently. Her voice was unusually soft and flirtatious.

Joseph chuckled softly and bent down to lift Lucille into his arms.

Lucille leaned into Joseph's embrace with her eyes closed, absolutely worry-free at that moment. She didn't have to worry about dangers or obstacles underfoot or falling stones above.
