Chapter 10: First time at Makula Company

He said and walked out of the Hotel.

After breakfast, Lyton got Mia ready to go to the Company. They were getting in the car when Lucas' car came back.

" So this idiot is just returning home. " She shook his head and entered the car. Mia who was already inside saw him in his car and she recalled him.

" Is that your brother ? " Mia asked.

" Yes. Your boss to be. " Lyton said with sarcasm as she started the car.

She drove out of the gate.

Ava was organizing her husband's tie when Lucas entered.

" Mom, Dad , Good morning. " He greeted them.

They turned to look at him.

" Where were you the whole night ? " George asked coldly.

" I needed a break so I was at Mark's house. " Lucas lied.

" Let me hope so. " George said picking his brief case.

" Dear, They have been best friends for a while. There's no doubt's that he was with him." Ava defended and looked at Lucas.

" It's okay. Go to your room. " She said and turned to George lovingly.

" I will escort you to your car. " She said.

George shook his head and then went with her.

At Makula Company....

Mia and Lyton were in the center of Kampala city when they stopped the car before the long glass building of about seven to eight floors.

Mia had been enjoying seeing these new things she had never seen before in the village and she would ask Lyton this and that.

When they stopped they came out of the car.

Mia looked up and smiled. " Is this really where I am going to be working from ? " She asked with lack of credence.

" Mmm.." Lyton nodded with a smile.

The building had a big name of the Makula Fashions and a few clothes were inside on dummies which could be seen through the glass windows.

They went inside and all the workers who met Lyton greeted her. They could give Mia a strange look.

They entered the elevator and it locked itself.

" What small room is this ? " Mia asked in confusion.

Lyton laughed and said. " This is an elevator. It's going to take us up " She said.

" Ele...what ...? " Mia was perplexed.

Lyton laughed again and went to press the numbers. Mia didn't know what was going to happen next not until the elevator started moving.

" What's that ? i am scared, Is it an earth quake ? " Mia asked in panic and looked for something to hold.

Lyton went to her and held her hand. " Mia, Calm down. It's just in seconds. " She said and Mia hugged her hard.

" It feels dizzy.." she said.

The elevator reached the fifth floor and stopped.

" Okay, It's time to come out. " Lyton said

Mia who had even closed her eyes in fear opened them and saw the door open itself.

She gave a sigh of relief and walked out. Lyton smiled and also followed her.

" Mia, You have to get used to these things. " She said.

" Well, Isn't there another way ? " Mia asked.

" Of course the stairs. But they take long and It's tiresome to use them. " Lyton said as they went to her office.

Before the office was another big room that had a number of workers there seated on their seats before the desks that had computers and piles of files and there were a few dummies with clothes too.

" Good morning Ms Lyton. " They greeted her one on one.

" Good morning. " Lyton greeted them and stood in center of the Office.

They paid attention seeing the new girl besides her.

" This is Mia. She is going to be part of you from now onwards. " Lyton declared.

" She looks like a village girl. What can she do here ? " One of the girls whispered to the friend.

" She doesn't even look like someone who went to school before. " Another girl mumbled.

" Look at her cheap dress and bag.." The third one said

They am kept their voices low that all Lyton could hear were murmurs.

" Mia, Introduce yourself. " Lyton said.

Mia was already scared by the way these women and men looked elegant and classic. She swallowed hard and then cleared her throat.

" My name is Mia Alinda. ..I am...I have nothing to talk about myself. I am just happy to be here today. I've never worked with such a big team before but I think it will be nice working with you guys. " She said.

" Well...Let's go to my Office first.." Lyton said after the introduction and took Mia to her Office which she was also big and well decorated.

It had her desk and the parlor made of two couches and a glass table.

Lyton led her to the couch and they sat down.

" Well, I bring the contract for you to sign.. " She said and went to pick it from the drawers behind her desk.

Mia was seated and looking around at everything that looked expensive and new things her.

Lyton came and put the contract file on the table.

" Read through it and sign.." Said Lyton.

" Okay...But I may not understand something's. " Mia told the truth.

" Then I will read it with you. " Lyton got it and begun reading through with her.

After that, Mia was taken back to the designers office where they gave her a desk that had a computer and all the other requirements needed.

She sat down and didn't know what to do next.

She was there when one of her neighbors pulled her chair closer to her's.

" Hi , Mia. I'm Brennan. " The girl said.

" Mia.." Answered.

" Where are you from, You don't look like a Muganda .." Brennan remarked.

" Yes. I am from the West. " She said.

" It's nice to meet you. I can be your friend. " Brennan said.

" Really ? " Mia smiled.

" Why not, I have liked you already. And besides that, My room is free. Never know we can share one. " Brennan said.

Mia smiled. " Ms Lyton had promised to get me a room. So...no thanks. " Mia said.

" Fine then. We can just be friends. " Brenna said cheerfully.
