My Uneventful Camping Trip

First love – it could make you or break you. Kinsley— dense and self-centered— goes on the school's camping trip just to be with the only boy she's ever fallen in love with, Adrian. But things get complicated when a gorgeous and sweet foreign exchange student comes on camp, catching Adrian's attention and putting Kinsley in a tight spot between love and friendship. Things get much more worse when Jake Hill shows up, trying to drive Kinsley to the brink of insanity by making her feel emotions she has never felt before. And maybe, trying to win her heart. But she still wants Adrian and will stop at nothing to get her first kiss from her first love even if it means attending a camping trip she isn't meant to attend. ~sneak peek~ "I don't know who you are. Or why you're doing this but I won't let you ruin this camping trip for me." I whisper in a low voice more to myself than to him. As if he hears me, he slowly opens up his eyes and gives me a little smile, almost like he's challenging me. And I'm stuck staring into green eyes. —He was always around me, bugging me and ruining my chances of getting my first kiss. But when I found out who he was and why he was doing it... Everything changed. Everything became harder.— Kinsley Bardot (at the end of the book.)

Crush 'em Lacrosse

MONDAY. 7:25 AM.

She frowns at me. "What? Why would you want to play that?"

I frown back at her. "What? We should try something new. Don't you want to try something new?"

"Well yeah, but…" She trails as she looks around trying to find where said sport is being played, she finds it and turns back to me. "But it's a very dangerous sport."

I fold my arms, "says who?"

"Haven't you seen the tv series teen wolf?"

I sigh, "That is fiction, this is real life. I'm sure it's perfectly safe." I convince her.

"But you promised to teach me how to swim."

I did promise that but we were both 10 at that time, and that was because our families decided to spend time at the pool for a birthday and Jenny almost drowned. I guess that's when Mr Scott got much more protective and banned Jen from going into the water.

I remember she was so sad, she wanted to join the swim team so badly but couldn't because her dad won't let her and she didn't know how to swim because she's never been in the water. In order to cheer her up, I promised to teach her how to swim and then convince her dad that she was perfectly safe in the water.

But we've never gotten the chance to swim until now and I can not pass this opportunity with Adrian.

After all, I made that promise before I knew Adrian; things can change.

"Oh come on, we can do that another time. Or you could just ask one of those girls to teach you instead."

She stares at me for a moment with an unreadable expression. This is the first time I can't exactly read her expression and it scares me a little. She turns away from me and looks towards the Lacrosse players then she scoffs.

"This is because of Adrian, right?"

I admit instantly, "Yeah, I simply can not miss out on this opportunity." I say in a serious voice.

She slowly turns to me with that same unreadable expression, "So you're choosing a boy over your best friend."

My face scrunches up. "What?" I ask. "Oh hel-" I quickly cut myself off, remembering the deal. I groan for a second and continue, "There's no way I'm choosing him over you. Of course not. This is an opportunity; you know how long I've waited for him to notice me."

She nods her head a little with her lower lip sucked in, looks down at her shoe, "Fine." Jen murmurs in a low voice.

"Aw, thank you."

"But when you break your neck, do not call me!" She says in a firm voice.

I chuckle, "Yes madam."

She laughs at me and begins walking towards the swimming girls.

"Have fun swimming." I say to her and she gives me a final wave.

I guess she really doesn't have any problem with this.

I let out a light breath, clap my hands together and turn around, facing the far away Lacrosse members.

'You ended up not sending me back home after you said you were, this could be a sign and I'm going to take my chance.' I say within myself referring to Adrian Price.

I confidently begin walking towards the Lacrosse teams, who are currently doing some warm ups.

Confidence is always the key. I learnt that from my dad. Whatever it is you want to do—no matter how little it is—you must be confident because just a little fear and uncertainty can ruin it all. So right now, I'm trying my best to shake off every bit of nervousness.

It takes me longer than expected to reach there, I guess I really underrated the size of this field.

When I finally reach, I'm faced with Mr. Sprayberry's backside as he blows his annoying whistle, yelling commands at the boys. (They had divided the field into different sectors for basketball, lacrosse, lawn tennis, golf, baseball etc). I look away from Coach to see a few boys running round the field while majority of them were seated on benches; drinking water with sweat evident on them. I can't see Adrian yet but I know he's here somewhere.

Time to make my presence known.

"Coach," I start in an audible voice, causing him to look back. He's quite far away from the other boys so none of them hear me, they actually can't because they're yelling jokes at the boys running on the field. "Give me a stick, I wanna hit some balls."

His eyes widened at my statement and his whistle drops from his mouth, coming to hang round his neck with the help of a rope. "What did you say?"

Wow, people ask that question a lot.

"I said to give me a stick, I wanna hit some balls." I say and he still stares at me. "In other words, I want to play Lacrosse."

"Oh," He chuckles then clears his throat, shaking his head a little as if shaking away his previous thoughts. "Are you really serious about playing lacrosse?"

"Yeah I am." I smile at him.

He blinks at me. I continue to give him my best smile, hoping he'll let me play. Then that's when I notice I am the only female on this field. This should be fun- NO!

"Alright!" He claps his hands together in excitement. "You can play Lacrosse, I can't really stop you from doing what you want and if you're really great at it, I might just let you join the school's team. It'll be nice to have a female on the team."

I widen my eyes a little at what he just said. Thank you but don't think so, this is all just for some guy.

"Lennon! Come over here!" He calls out and I follow his line of vision to see Lennon drenched in sweat walking towards me.

I suddenly remember Lennon's on the team and might stop me from playing.

BUT I don't linger long on that thought because something else catches my attention- Adrian moves into sight. I just realized he's one of those guys who were previously running round the field when I got here.

I watch as he pants hard, wipes a hand over his face, stand straight up and pulls his shirt over his head. At that moment, my mouth drops slightly open as I stare in awe. With no shirt on, he reaches over for a bottle which causes his abs to flex a little and–

Someone snaps their fingers in front of me. I quickly detach my eyes to see Lennon standing in front of me with a concerned frown.

"What are you staring at?" He asks then begins turning around to check out what caught my attention but I quickly stop him.

"Ah, nothing. I was just staring at… at the air." I say in an awkward voice. I don't think Lennon knows but I definitely don't want him to know; too many people know already.

He frowns a little at me, "why do I feel like you're up to something?"

I roll my eyes, "What? So just because I want to play this little sport?"

"Yes." He firmly says. "Why not just join Jenny and the other girls who are swimming?" He raises his eyebrow at me.

Growing up with someone has good benefits but at the same time, it could also have disadvantages. Since we were kids, Lennon knows I don't do anything without having a hidden agenda. Would like to put that up for a debate because I don't think it's true.

I feel caught but try my best to cover up, "Well, I'm not most girls." I smile.

He chuckles. "Yeah you're right about that," then he looks back to Mr. Sprayberry. "Coach?" it sounds almost like he's asking for a final confirmation.

Lennon has always been respectful and well-behaved since we were kids, something I admired about him and I guess I still admire that about him. Too sad we grew apart.

Mr. Sprayberry nods then goes back to yell at some players.

"Alright player, follow me."

He walks past me and I get a whiff of his cologne mixed with sweat. I really hope I wouldn't smell weird after this.

Just as I'm about to turn around and walk after him, someone harshly grabs me from behind and turns me around which causes my head to move a little too fast for my neck to tolerate. I feel a slight pain shoot up the sides of my neck as my hair covers my face, blocking my view of this annoying intruder.

Oh if I didn't enter that deal, the mean curses I would rain on this person, he or she won't be able to withstand it. I mean, why grab me like that?

I huff in frustration as I begin trying to move my hair out of my face ready to blast this totally nonsensical son of a-

"What the hell are you doing?"
