As Xiao Ti entered the elevator, Zeng Shen let go of the door. Soon, the elevator reached the 13th floor.
In the quiet hotel corridor, Kekelin led Zeng Shen and Xiao Ti to room 1303. She knocked, opened the door, and entered.
Zeng Shen followed her inside and noticed that Jack, the Dean, was staying in a luxurious family suite. Four foreign men in black suits, with broad noses and short blond hair, stood at the entrance, likely Jack's bodyguards.
Kekelin brought Zeng Shen to a room, knocked lightly, turned the handle, and entered. It was a study, with a desk and a wall of books behind it. Sitting at the desk was a middle-aged man with blond hair, typing on a laptop.
Kekelin introduced Zeng Shen to Jack, "Dean Jack, this is Zeng Shen, and the woman beside him is his confidante."
Zeng Shen and Xiao Ti entered, and after a brief introduction, Kekelin stood behind Jack.
Jack removed his hands from the keyboard, stood, and greeted them with a smile, "Please, have a seat, Mr. Zeng. You're younger than I expected."
"I thought Dean Jack would be an old man, but you don't look too young yourself," Zeng Shen replied, pulling out a chair and sitting down.
Jack also sat and turned his laptop towards Zeng Shen, asking, "Mr. Zeng, is this piece of Green Dew Imperial Jade from you?"
Zeng Shen glanced at the screen and nodded.
Seeing Zeng Shen's confirmation, Jack got straight to the point, "I want to know where you found this Green Dew Imperial Jade. Did you buy it or mine it yourself?"
"I dug it from a small cave," Zeng Shen replied directly.
"Where is this cave?" Jack asked, a hint of excitement in his voice.
Zeng Shen smiled, taking his phone from his pocket and placing it before Jack, "Take a look at these photos, Dean Jack. Tell me if they're well-taken."
Jack, puzzled, picked up the phone. When he saw a photo showing a piece of Green Dew Imperial Jade still embedded in a rock wall, his eyes widened.
After a long pause, he asked, "How much Green Dew Imperial Jade is in that cave?"
"I'm not a professional geologist, so how would I know?" Zeng Shen shrugged. "But I think there's quite a bit. The rock is so hard that even with a drill, I couldn't get through it. I was lucky to find a couple of pieces on the ground to bring back for appraisal; otherwise, I wouldn't know their worth."
"You sold one piece already. What about the other?" Jack asked eagerly.
Zeng Shen thought for a moment, "It'll likely be auctioned abroad soon."
"Can I buy it privately, like your transaction with Daxia?" Jack pressed.
"No," Zeng Shen refused without hesitation.
"Why not?" Jack asked.
"I've heard from friends abroad that many countries are eager for it. Besides, I like fairness. It will go to the highest bidder."
"But you sold one to Daxia privately. Where's the fairness in that?" Jack thought to himself but asked, "What do you want in exchange for the cave's location?"
Zeng Shen smiled, "Simple. I want half of the mining proceeds from the jade. Also, I opened a pre-made food factory and need..."
Jack quickly agreed, "Half the proceeds? Sure, I agree. If you want to export pre-made food to our country, no problem, full green light."
"No, I want various fresh food ingredients. I hope you can connect me with farms and estates to be my suppliers."
Jack, surprised by this unexpected benefit, began to agree, "Of course, that won't be..."
Zeng Shen interrupted, "Dean Jack, don't agree too quickly. Hear me out. I want your country's bank to guarantee the deal with just 1% down payment, with the balance due in a year."
"Only 1% down payment?" Jack shook his head vigorously, "No way. The standard is at least 60% down payment for exports, with the remainder due within three months post-delivery, or else there's a tenfold penalty."
"Then I'll just report the cave to my country. Although the reward might only be 500 yuan and a banner, the honor it brings is priceless, worthy of pride, and brings glory to my ancestors," Zeng Shen said earnestly.
Jack, worried that Zeng Shen might actually report it to Daxia, quickly interrupted, "Okay, okay, I agree. Now, can you tell me where the cave is?"
"Dean Jack, do you take me for a child? Words alone aren't enough. We need a written agreement. If you supply my pre-made food factory with fresh ingredients for a year, I'll tell you the cave's location."
"What if a year later, you don't tell me, or these photos are fake?" Jack questioned.
"Jack, who would dare play tricks with your great nation? Certainly not me. That would be suicidal," Zeng Shen interrupted confidently.
Jack considered and realized Zeng Shen had a point. With their country's power, no one would dare deceive them.
Still, he hesitated, "If we sign such an agreement, I need to call the White House President."
"Go ahead," Zeng Shen said with a smile.
