My alarm rung.
I sprung up in utter shock and confusion, finding myself in a familiar yet unfamiliar place.
"Am I dead?" I spoke aloud.
I got up and walked around the old apartment I remember getting when I was 19 years old.
"What the hell is going on…" I thought and I quickly remembered the bite I got before I woke up here.
"It's gone!"
I checked my whole body and all of my wounds and scars were gone, and at the same time I looked at my phone to check the date.
May 10, 2024
"It's a week before the outbreak…"
My body paralyzed by shock, unable to come up with an emotion for the situation I am in.
Should I be happy I was given another chance at life… or feel defeated thinking I would have to go through all of it again. It would've been nice if I had been given a year… BUT A WEEK?
Deep in thought my phone began to ring.
Unknown Caller
"Um hello?" I answered hesitantly as I haven't talked to anyone in ages. My eyes began welling up as soon as I heard who was on the other line.
"Mayra! Why did you block me!? I needed to ask you for a favor!" the person said in a playful tone.
Is that Liam… even through all these years I could never forget him, I had a longtime crush on him until the day he passed. He is truly the one person that caused me the most pain surviving those years. I pondered for a moment before answering, wiping my tears and clearing my throat.
"Liam! Hi! What did you need?" I said awkwardly before answering my own question.
"What's with you today?! Are you good? Anyways, I was wondering if I could crash at your place for a day since I'm back in town! I am near your place." Liam said confidently as if he already knew I would say yes.
"Sure, I just need to freshen up first, I'm still waking up."
I knew that after this call I would need to make some preparations immediately but there are many things I need to get used to still, I hope I can still enjoy this week despite what I know is ahead of me.
"Okay! I'll be there in 10 minutes!" Liam replied
I hung up the phone, wanting to check my bank account balance until realizing I don't remember my passcode. But, thankfully it still opened due to face recognition.
"Thank god." I exulted until I saw the state that my bank account was in.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me."
